A break past friendship

I have a best friend, he's nice and cute and so nonsexist ( which i hate about guys), he's perfect! But... i like him more than a friend and i dont think he knows it. Im affraid to tell him because i dont want to break the friendship. So what can i do to know whether he feels the same?
