pregnacy

Question Posted Thursday June 16 2005, 10:53 am

I was three days late for my period so I took two home pregnacy test and both came up with a very faint postive. I read the test when I was suppose to and the line that comes up when it is done correctly was there and then I got my period. Could I be pregnate or was the pregnacy test wrong? I have two children and never had my period during pregnacy before and have never had a false positive either. Please help!

When initially pregnant, you can experience an irregular menstrual cycle - it will seem like having your period, but will be a bit off the norm. Those pregnancy tests look for a hormone that you only have when you are pregnant - thus you can get a false negative if not enough of the hormone is built up in your system, but you cannot get a false positive. I would guess that you could very well be pregnant, and should schedule with an OB/GYN to be tested using their more accurate test.
