I have a relative that is an indian, he wants me to stop by his place sometime and play guitar with him, but as of late hes been telling a lot of people that he is getting into conversing with spirits and other things like that. He has been telling my father a story that his son has been having images of his dead grandfather appearing in his dreams. And even though hes never seen his grandfather, he can now describe him perfectly. Hes very upfront about everything, and gets offended considerably easy when you talk about indians.
I love to play my guitar, and hes a phanomenal guitar player, I always love to play with other people. But I am also a very enthousiastic racist, and when people set themselves up for me to make a nice little mockery of them, its almost impossible for me to resist. Im afraid hes going to sacrafice me or something, however, i'd like to go and play some guitar.
Im aware I could probably have several Mormons beat the spirituality out of him, but im not so sure I want to go the ruthless, violent route.
I just want to play some music and leave, if we talk thats fine, I just don't want to hear about phantom spirits smoking tobacco in the spiritual shed with him one night last week.
Any suggestions as to how I should handle this situation?
If you feel the urg to make fun of him then just leave. Tell him you need to go.
I also think that you need to try to stop being racist. It's not fun for anybody and one day it's going to be terrible for you. But thats just my advice.
So you have to think to yourself. What do you love more? Playing gutiar with your uncle? or making fun of your uncle?

Just tell your relative that you don't want to hear about "phantom spirits smoking tobacco in the spiritual shed with him one night last week". You don't have to go all out and tell him that you think it's stupid and you don't agree with it. That would upset him. Just tell him that it bothers you and you would prefer not to talk about that. Then you can just go there and play guitar. Just don't upset him and dissrespect him by telling him you think the things he believes in are false and dumb.

And while the "Ruthless, violent Route" seems like it would do wondeRs in this specific scenaRio, peRhaps theRe's a betteR way to go about this, eh?
SoRRie if this seems lame, but in *MY* peRsonal opinion.. it's all so simple:
If this indian guy is such a nutso FREAK about his heRitage... hanging out with him [especially in HIS domain] he's DEFINITELY gonna want to yack it up with you about SOME bullshit oR anotheR. He'll pRobably give you the walk thRough of his living Room telling you about all of the dumb aRtifacts and caRvings and gay Rugs that he holds so veRy deaR to his heaRt, then you'll play some guitaR.. heaR his twisted, physco stoRies and most likely leave theRe knowing exactly how to peRfoRm smoke signals.
I undeRstand you just want to jam out some, but you and I both know he'll toss his bologna at you, so if you just CAN'T shut youR tRap foR this ONE night.. then it's best not to go, soRRie!
