I don't think anyone really knows why they mean that. I think it was just a trend that many people followed. Alll different colors mean different sexual activities, and once a guy had done that with you, then he would cut it off.

I can tell you what I know.
Back in the late 80's/early 90's, many people would wear those jelly bracelets to parties or outtings. When they were invited for sexual activity, their partner would cut off the jelly bracelet, depending on the color and what they did. Different colors mean different activities. I don't know what each color stands for, though. It was just the trend back then.
