Dear moderators

Question Posted Tuesday May 31 2005, 9:24 am

I think the questions which people like to read and answer ahould be rated high so that people like the site more. The idea of this site was great but this is why it pisses people off sometimes
1-Questions which are common should not be deleted because
many people ask them and therefore more people's questions get deleted.Columnists can answer those questions well.therefore more people get pissed off
2-interesting questions which other people will want to know the answer to should not know the answer to.eg:Why do peopl laugh when they are happy or see someone embarresed and why do tears come when people are sad?
3-short questions should not be deleted
4-gossippy questions should not ge deleted
eg:Witch/devil
I keep getting thoughts in my head which say I am a satanist.

and when questions are deleted it shouldn't be written in red because that makes people angry and they repeat their questions. This way a lot less people will get pissed of with this site a lot more people will like the site and a lot more people will have their probbloms solve and be happy too.but thats not what you moderators want is it?

There are, of course, guidelines as to what moderators should rate up and down (e.g. your example of an interesting question and your example of a "gossipy question" btoh aren't asking for advice, so aren't relevant to the site and would be deleted for that reason), but most of it is based on subjective opinions about what the individual moderators think are good and bad questions.

The point is, though you may like the type of questions you've listed, most people don't. People will happily answer the odd question they see a lot, like "I like this guy, what should I do?" or "what are some good exercises?", but nobody actually wants to see and answer the exact same question all the time. If mods feel like a person could have easily done a keyword search and found hundreds of answers to their question, then asking it again does seem a little pointless.

As for why non-advice questions get deleted, well, they're just spam. Randomly amusing question in the randomly weirdos category are funny occasionally, but what nobody wants is this site to just descend into a message board where people post just anything that has nothing to do with either giving or recieivng advice. There are thousands of sites on the internet where you can post any old random thought that pops into your head, but that's not the point of this site.

you need to ask this to the advice admin, she is the only one that can change this. or, if you are a level 1 or 2 moderator, you need to put this in the mod. discussion

thats the only way there will be a change!
