I want to open my own bar ( u know be the owner of it ) well i dont really know how to, do i have to go to college? about how much will it cost, how do i even start doing it? how do i order the drinks and that, where would i get it from? how would paying my bills work? you know stuff like that, how buisness run and how to start them stuff like that.
sunkistsarah answered Sunday May 29 2005, 7:46 am: well i think you should try to get some experience before doing one yourself. I think you should work in a bar and get the feel of how they do things. There is a class in bar tending that you would probably have to take so you could have the degree. I will cost a lot, for the land and building and furniture and merchandise, you shouldnt start this until you are ready to spend more money then you are bringing in...you order the drink and other products from venders. they will give you a list of everything they sell and you just pick what you want and then you can start saying, ok i want 10 cases of this each month, and they will deliver it.
it doesnt seem like you know very much about owning a business and i think you should start lower and work your way up, my dad started as a manager in a restaurant and worked his way up to GM and area supervisor and now he owns his own restaurant, but that took him about 10 years.
Try not to start so big, get familiar with how things work...hope this helps!
EDIT: ok i dont really understand...we all gave you really good advice...even if you didnt want to hear it...it was good and what you asked for...and you rate 4...then someone says penis and you rate 4 also. was penis as good as all the others...just wondering... You usually need some experience like that to get a business loan. [ Vassalisa's advice column | Ask Vassalisa A Question ]

Not that I'm calling you a dummy. That's just the title of the book.
icey0990 answered Sunday May 29 2005, 12:49 am: Well it would be a good idea to take some business courses.(doesnt have to be at a university or an expensive school..even just a community college) You would pay for it by taking out a loan from the bank and you would pay off the loan month by month..thats all i can help with..but the business part of it is key. do you have a close friend who is an expert in business? i would maybe team up with someone who is very strong in business..and as a team you can be co owners...both of you can split the cost. i would search online at a search engine for starting up your own bar.
