About 85% of people age 12-24 have acne. Here are some facts about Acne and how you can get rid of it.
1. First of all, Acne is NOT caused by chocolate like some people think. It's really caused by hormones.
2. Washing your face a thousand times a day only irrates the skin more. Your skin because your skin overcompensates and produces more oil. Use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, $10, or a spot treatment like Clearasil Instant Clean Rollerball Applicator, $4.
3. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER PICK YOUR SKIN. IT ONLY MAKES THE SPOT INFECTED AND MAKES IT STAY LONGER.
4. Hydrogen peroxide is great for cleaning out cuts, but for a pimple, your best bet is a salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide treatment. For the salicylic acid variety, we recommend Origins Spot Remover Acne Blemish Treatment Gel, $10.
5. There are few problems that don't have products designed to help — back breakouts are not one of them. So try a cleanser like Neutrogena Body Wash, Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment, $5, and it should clear everything right up
6.Covering a zit with heavy-duty stuff will only worsen it. But that doesn't mean you're stuck. Try Clean & Clear Concealing Treatment Stick, $5, to work undercover.
7. You should always protect your skin from the sun, but especially when you're using antibiotics or a topical acne treatment. A good everyday solution is Olay Complete UV Protective Lotion SPF 15, $7.
8. It's hard to believe, but the black part of a blackhead is really just a chemical reaction to the stuff that's clogging it. Which makes us feel better, because visible dirt on your face is pretty gnarly. To get rid of them, use Clearasil Blackhead Clearing Pads, $4.
9. Anything touching your face (even your hands) can make acne worse. But don't hang up your phone forever. Just make sure that you clean it — and your hands — often with alcohol wipes to keep the germs away.
10.One type of hyperpigmentation is the small discoloration that's left after the pimple heals. In order to avoid this, don't pick (as if we need to say it again) and avoid the sun. Taking care of this should help.
