Mental Block!

Question Posted Tuesday April 26 2005, 5:16 pm

My mom is making me try-out for my middle school cheer squad. But i have a terrible mental block for over a year now (i used to be a competative cheerleader) and i Can't even throw my handspring ( i had a full!) What can i do! I have to tumble for the squad and try-outs are in 2 weeks! I RATE VERY HIGH!

Take a tumbling class! Take privates at a local competitive gym/gymnastic place. You have to push yourself to overcome your mental block, as long as theres a spot there you should have complete trust in him or her and just throw it. If you dont have a spot, go over in your head all of the necesary steps in a backhandspring. (Sit like your in a chair, jump up and back, push off your hands, snap your legs over fast) And when you feel like your ready, go on soft grass, or a mat, and just go for it. Good luck!

Well, you could eitheR tell youR Mom that joining the sqaud is *YOUR* decision, not heRs, and if you'Re not up to it, then she has no Right to foRce you into it. OR if you decide that you would like to give it anotheR shot, keep pRacticing. Also, you could tRy meditating -- it may sound silly, but if you'Re seRious enough about the spoRt, than something so simple shouldn't be oveRlooked. WhateveR you decide, I wish you the best of luck! Hope I helped!! =D

im a cheerleader 2. if you want to be on the squad then keep practicing and if you cant get it by then then you should just try out in something besides tumbling. if you dont want to be on the squad then you should explain it to your mom or if that doesnt work then you should not do bad on tryouts but dont do your best and then you wont make it if you dont want to be on the squad.
