Show Choir

Question Posted Friday April 22 2005, 5:40 pm

I have show choir auditions in about a week and I didn't make it last year because I wasn't very excited or emotional when we danced and when I did my solo. Are there any tips to help me become more lively when singing and dancing, without making a complete fool of myself? Also what are some good upbeat songs to sing? Thanks!

Well, a jazz tune will help you out a bit. There's quite a few out there. If you could find a solo for the song "Gimme that spotlight" That'd be a good one to do. My choir is singing that. Most of it depends on whether you are an alto or a soprano.

find a song that you like and that you can also dance too. that way you will be enthusiastic about it and you can be alive because you actually like the song. hope i helped!

Hi there. Im in show choir and I know exactly what you mean. As far as the tryout goes, just smile. The judges really notice when you do no matter what your feet are doing. Just be very confident in what you're doing and you will do great. But of course you have to practice a lot! I asume that they will teach you a song and dance that you have to learn in a day or so. If you don't already, just get together with your friends, or anyone and practice the dance over and over. Thats what I did. It helps a lot because if you dont know a certain move or part of the dance then they can always help you.

As far as picking a song, definately pick a show tune. Perhaps something from Hairspray, Wicked, Thouroghly Moddern Millie, etc etc etc. And just have fun with it. if you just believe in yourself and what you are doing and show your passion for singing, then you will do great. Hope I helped!!! :)

Pick a song that you relate with and it will be easier to be more lively. As for choosing a song, I can't help you because I have no clue, but good luck!
