I hate vocally and emotionally unsupportive people!!!
Question Posted Monday April 4 2005, 8:25 pm
Hi. There's someone in my family, who I have to see at least twice a month (and sometimes randomly), who's married into our family (very much like myself), who isn't an affectionate and vocally and emotionally supportive person like I am. I feel it makes us collide as beings and causes some unspoken tension between us (on my part, at least). I try to keep my distance from her, yet at the same time I don't want it to appear blatantly to anyone (including her) that I feel she's unwelcome in my life, even though it's sort of true. She's not an affectionate person, and she has an aggressive straight-forwardness that can come across to be very controlling and uncaring on her part. How do I learn to be close to and accept someone married into the family?
