If I have taken counseling...

Question Posted Saturday March 19 2005, 12:41 pm

I asked you a question earlier about my abuser dream... If I have taken counseling, and even feel sorry for the guy, now what? You're right though, the ass does deserve to be in jail, but my restraining and protective order never seem to be enough! Help... thank you for your earlier input though! :)

I've been thinking about it for a while before attempting to answer it...

First off... I know how inneffective the justice system can be. My mother's ex husband beat her emotionally and physically many times. He beat other women in the same way before, during and after their marriage. Yet he has never spent a prolonged period of time in jail. She has had restraining orders and protective orders. They did nothing for her.

Yeah, I'm sure me saying that makes you feel a whole lot better (sarcasm) but it seems to be reality sometimes.

But you need to get past this situation in your mind. It's not enough to just feel sorry for the guy. You have to forgive him once and for all and get it all past you. Forgive him and hope that he will be able to get past his abusiveness in order to have a better life for himself. Then you will be able to begin to move on.

I know it sounds incredubly dispicable to actually wish for a better life for an asshole like him... but... I believe that it can help you get it out of your mind.

Hopefully hearing my advice, and advice from other's on this site has helped you a little bit in the last couple days. I hope that the nightmares have stopped, or will soon stop.
