obsessed friend

Question Posted Sunday March 6 2005, 9:22 pm

Hi,
My friend seems to have a problem with my having any individual friends that she doesnt know or hasn't stolen from me. And recently I found out that one of my other friends who she barely knows has cancer. I told her because I know that she knows him, and ever since, she doesn't stop talking about him and their conversations and stuff like that. I tried to talk to her but she wouldn't listen.
Hellllpppp meeee!!!!!!!!!!

what i would do here is:
first, try and sit her down and talk to her, with no one else there and no distractions. if she tries to change the subject or go do something else tell her this is important and you've got to talk to her about it.
if she is still reluctant to talk then tell her that you dont know if u can be her friend if she wont listen to something so important that u have to talk about. if she still wont listen try and get some of your good friends that are friends with her to to get her to stop and listen to what you guys have to say.
but if she wont listen then or she doesnt understand what your getting at- or worst case scenario she wont stop- then you might just have to stop being friends with her. i know its hard to just quit in a friendship but i think it would be for the best if she refuses to respect you and take you seriously. both people must work if they want a successful friendship and if shes not willing to listen to what you have to say then maybe the friendship isnt worth it.

i hope this helped! email me or IM me if you need more help.
