roomate going thru seperation do i pertain to the "rule"

Question Posted Saturday March 5 2005, 9:29 am

My ROOMATE is going through a seperation. She has a 4 year old daughter. From what I am told, There is to be no men around his daughter, and if there is, that could be grounds for him to take his daughter from my roomate,{He lives in another state} My question, If there is to be no men around his daughter and I live here to does that pertain to me also? I don't think it should seeing as how I am not part of there family. She takes care of her daughter, pays her half of the bills and I pay my half. Can me seeing my boyfriend at my house, with them living here be grounds for him to take his daughter from her? Also, what if she has a man here? Is her trying to rebuild her life and meet new people whom if she liked or got serious about one and wanted them to meet her daughter....Could her ex do anything about that too? ANOTHER THING, IS THAT EVEN LEGAL FOR HIM TO SAY THAT THERE CAN BE NO MEN AROUND HIS DAUGHTER? WHEN NOTHING HAS BEEN SIGNED STATING THAT?

THANKS, ILL RATE HIGHHHH

Hi Sweetie,
First of all is nothing is signed then its not legally a rule. Anyways. Well either way if you do have your boyfriend there or something it would be your ROOMAE'S rsponsibility to seperate her daughter from such situation. If this is to be a legal term then you and your roomate would have to make some sort of agreement. About your roomate... if she wants to "rebuild" her life in that term it does not require her daughter's prescense. If she wants her daughter to meet this man... Well the whole thing isn't even a legal term. Either way, your roomate's ex can't stop that. I mean, he can request that his daughter is not left alone with men but... if the mother rebuilds her life and wants her daughter to meet her new aqquaintance it would be possible aty the mother's prescence and surveilance.
Hope I helped. Take care. Hope it all works out. ~Blessed Be...

That doesn't sound legal to me, but I'm not a law student. But it sounds like something is very wrong here. If something happens, though, I'm sure your roomate can fight it in court. They usually take the woman's side. I mean, men are everywhere, so it's pretty impossible for her not to be around any unless you lock her up, which would be cruel. I certainly hope her daughter isn't taken away, and if something does happen just be there for her.
