makeup for asian eyes

Question Posted Saturday February 19 2005, 3:20 am

i’m asian, and my eyes are on the small side and i don’t have a double eyelid. what kind of eye makeup do you suggest? most fashion magazines just ignore asian eyes when dealing w/ eye makeup which is kind of annoying. also, i read ‘bobbi brown and teenage beauty’, which has a section that deals w/ asian beauty, but bobbi brown just suggested skin-tone eye makeup (tan, beige). colors like that are low-key and good for everyday wear i guess, but what if i want kind of a punk-rockish look? with dark makeup? and what if i want to wear (dark) exotic colors like violet and turquoise? serious answers please.

I like your attitude! I was reading up on it and almost every site said first the key was dark eyeliner! That will define your eyes. To make them appear bigger line your bottom lid with white eyeliner. Maybe you could wear your eyeshadow on and out beside your eye. Don't go crazy but kind of wisp the eyeshadow out just a little farther than usual. Hope I helped! goodluck.

For a punk-rockish look I'd suggest black liquid eyeliner, maybe some violet, blue, or even jade green eyeshadow.

For everyday wear, I'd suggest a light violet or light green color eyeshadow and maybe some black eyeliner. You can make your eyes look bigger by lining only the corners of your eyes with dark eyeliner.

Hope this helps!

I'm asian too, and the amount of advice for asian people sucks, but for a punk-rockish look, go for black eyeliner on your lower eyelid. As for the dark colors, go for it! I wear violet eye shadow all the time, it makes your eyes look mysterious. You could try a smoky-eye too, line your eyes with your favorite eyeshadow and spread a dark shimmery eye shadow over half of your eyelid.

White eyeliner is great for making your eyes look bigger and further apart. Don't go for dark colours, because they will just make your eyes look smaller. Try clear mascara, and then baby blue, pale green, beige, silver or white eyeshadow. You could even try blue mascara - experiment around with it a little and see which suits your skin tone best.
Well...if you want to wear dark colours on your eyes...they're just gonna make your eyes look small. You can be punky and dramatic without dark colours - dark colours look great on white punks, but what if you reverse it? Use white or silver mascara, maybe? Punky isn't about having dark makeup - it's about being you, standing out and looking dramatic.
Turquoise would probably look quite good though (put a LOT of it on). It all depends on your exact skin tone as well...everyone is slightly different, so just keep experimenting until you find something you like!! :)
Blessed Be,
Rach xxx
