bad breakup

Question Posted Wednesday January 19 2005, 6:39 pm

ok i went out with this guy i'll call 'bob.' i broke up with him because there was an age difference of 2 years (i'm older), he wasn't very mature, he was very clingy, and he did a lot of my pet peeves but now that we've broken up he's gotten even more annoying. he comes and eats lunch with me and my friends and just sits there and listens, not talking the whole time, and every time he sees me he gravitates towards me. is there any way to tell him to back off nicely? thanks so much :)

2 years isnt all that much. anyways he probably just wants to stay friends with you. there really isnt a nice way, you can try setting him up with one of your friends

Good Lord I know someone like that...I'm afraid your only option is to tell him that you need your space, or to tell him that he bothers you.

Just tell him nicely that he kind of bothers you. Just say something along the lines of "I want you be your friend and everything, but I really don't like it when you come and eat lunch with me. Me and my friends are always talking about things, things in which you can't hear sometimes. Maybe you could try hanging out with your other friends."
