no they don't have to. and it's not common practice (like shaving legs is) either. Many girls prefer to shave that hair off, but it isn't really a good idea. The hair is there to keep from getting infected in that area. Also, it is really easy to get razor burn from shaving that area cuz it's so sensitive. hope this helps!
