Question Posted Friday December 10 2004, 10:18 pm

I'm in eighth grade, I've never had a boyfriend, and life's confusing. I just got back from a school dance, and once again, I didn't dance with ANYBODY. I have never ever had a boyfriend or danced with anybody :( I really want to..It's not that I NEED a boyfriend, but I just want someone to dance with at the dances sometimes. No one ever asks me or anything. That's because I'm too ugly so they won't ask me (at least I think so). I am being myself, and I just hang out with my friends there. But I just think that it's weird that I've never had a boyfriend, and I'm almost in highschool. I know I don't need a boyfriend but I want one..one of the guys I like, at least. My friends are always dancing with guys at the dances and I'm just sitting there, being bored. I don't want to ask the guys to dance either, because I know they'll say 'no'. I KNOW they will, because I'm ugly. I am not popular, I'm not a geek/nerd. I'm in the middle. I don't think I'm the ugliest person in the world, but I DEFINATELY know I'm not the prettiest. I don't know how to deal with this. Please..any advice?

A LOT of people I know have never had a boyfriend or slow dance, and im in the 8th grade, too. You just can't push so hard, just enjoy the dance with your friends. I know it would probably get lonely sometimes, but guys get just as scared to ask girls to dance as we are. There could be a guy at your school who is totally crushing on you and you dont even know it. When you relax, things just happen, believe me. Or you could just ask a really good guy friend to dance, no pressure. Don't ever think you're ugly, or you'll never get a guy! They love confidence! Have you ever seen a really quiet girl in the corner with a boyfriend? No! Besides, you'll never be the prettiest girl in the world, no one is! Just work with what you've got and be happy for it!

Keep me posted!
