Ok, i just got a motorola IM free and it has a base unit that plugs into a USB port on the computer. Problem is that my computer doesnt recognize that i have USB ports. I think my dad may have gotten it to notice the ports but it says they need to be configured. What does this mean and how do i do it?
Additional info, added Sunday December 5 2004, 8:17 pm: ok, we dont know the brand name of the USB ports if that helps any. So we cant instal drivers. DemonicScott answered Friday December 10 2004, 4:15 pm: Ok...I had a problem a little similar to this on my desktop. What I ended up doing is searching through my computers CMOS. It said something about USB and it was disabled, so I re-enabled it and the ports work as good as new. Remember, if it isnt enabled in the CMOS, then the computer wont supply power to it.

Draak answered Sunday December 5 2004, 5:47 pm: You need to check and see if the drivers for your USB controllers are correct. You need to do this by going to your System Configuration which is located in the Control Panel. Once you're there, click the Hardware Tab, and then click device manager. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers and make aure all of them are enabled and have the correct drivers. [ Draak's advice column | Ask Draak A Question ]
