If you don't have the guts to do that, just ask him if he's still hooked on that girl and why. Before my boyfriend (now Ex BF) went out, he had a girlfriend he was hooked on and I asked him "Why do you like this girl?" and he told me. Later on, I figured he was going to break up with her. I told him how I felt and he said he felt the same way, instantly forgot about his GF and we started to go out. He broke up with his GF about a week later. So maybe you'll be just as lucky!! I'm sure he'll like you! :-D
Hope that helped answer your question!
