about a guy i like

ok, i think u know me but if u dont thats ok but i like this guy named tim. he and i have been friends 4 a long time and i know i like him but im scared if i tell him that he wont feel the same and it will screw up our friendship. everyone has told me "just tell him, he will understand" but its just not working what should i do? peace out chikie doodle!!!
