Mental

Question Posted Tuesday October 26 2004, 4:58 pm

OK Well, I am depressed, like i know i am... my mom does too (which is who i live with) and i dunno if i should be put on meds, because i heard that they can make u randomly want to kill yourself and stuff like that. and i've been seeing counslers all my life, and as a matter of fact they are more wacked out than me, its totall crap, i mean they get me to answer questions, which i can't do without crying, because its yearss and yearsss of crap in my life, i mean most of the tim ei just say i don't remebr what happened and stuff, because i start crying and i hate that because then they are like oh i ahve to keep another appt. and so i leave. i mean its not my choice to be there its part of the court order, frum the my parents divorce and stuff. I mean one counsler i saw actually started crying, after tlaking with me...but i sleep way to much, i mean i don't see the harm in that really, its just its gotten so bad that i can't sleep at night and i sit there for 2 hours looking at the ceiling. I mean i questioning everything, io don't really care what happens to me really. what do u do whne u realize your friends and most people are fake. So what the hell should I do. So many people go on meds for being depressed, honestly i can't see how my mind would just change about everything. I mean i am depressed but i don't think i am wrong bout things, I just finally came to the realaity bout people, and life, and how things freakin suck.

Do not go on Meds...especially ZOLOFT!!! Stay away from them. Drugs do more harm than good. If your mom is depressed you need to be away from her as much as possible. Depression is contagious. If you have friends who are happy and optimistic hang out with them. Or make new friends who are more optimistic. I've been through a lot in my life...parents divorce, father died, step family, moving, death death death...etc...Everything gets better in the end. Get involved in something. It sounds cheesy but join some clubs. I always found that movies cheered me up...I watched so many until I nearly went blind. Yes most people are fake, just laugh at them and try to find the real ones. I don't know how old you are, but from what i can infer you're still pretty young. You have a lot ahead of you, start looking forward to what you can do and don't worry about the past. Find some positive people...even if you would never be around them before, happy people really rub off. Take time to do stuff and not worry about anything...everything gets better...TRUST ME!!! STAY AWAY FROM THE MEDS!!!!

ok..first of all not all meds make you want to kill yourself..in fact they can turn you around in no time.

They have to be used in tandom with a therapist..as you have to also address what triggers the depression.

Tragic events in your life have to be taken care of and a counselor who cries after she hear it well..is not very professional no matter how horrible it is..see she is THEIR to help you..not get comfort.

Your mind or the past will not change..but how you deal with it will.

Please get help..do see a therapist as in DOCTOR.

They will find the right combination of drugs that will elevate you to a state that you can deal with your problems..now it will take time..as they have to find the right chemicals to fight the chemicals in your body.

Oh by the way...75 percent of my family has been on meds...it is a genetic chemical inbalance...Please feel free to ask me about any in dealing with this...ok...not a doctor but I do know a lot about depression.

I would say you need to talk to your psychiatrist about it. Some anti-depressants can cause the depression to get worse and if you're going through the psychiatrist to get the meds, she or he will help you and find the right perscription for you. This same kind of thing happened to me, you'll be on one med for about a week and then they'll switch you and see if it works any better or what not. There are times though when you feel the medicine isn't going to help but you need to just keep takin it, cause you need to find the one that will help. So yea, talk to your doctor and see what they think you need. Usually they'll find the best perscription for you. :) Hope I helped! -Manda
