lilblondeii<3 answered Thursday October 14 2004, 9:14 pm: Just a couple weeks ago I had the same symptoms and I went to the doctor and said to give it a few days and if I had a fever still then i would have to get tested for mono(They take a blood test!!) soo... if you have a fever in a couple days still then go to the doctors or asap.

Mandee answered Thursday October 14 2004, 7:51 pm: Awww, I'm so sorry. I hope you're okay. I had to research a paper on mono before, so I do know some symptoms. Your muscles and joints will hurt, and you will probably have nausea. Sometimes skin colors may look pale or yellow. Large lymph nodes will appear around the area of your neck. Most people first experince sore throats, fevers, and vomiting. And along with that you'll be very, very tired all of the time. So resting is the best thing for you to do. Keep in mind that if you do have mono and get a lot of rest, sometimes you won't want to eat. Losing weight may occur if that happens. So make sure you do eat and get enough sleep. It may take one or two weeks before you are able to go to school agian, but you probably won't feel like yourself for about a month. Feel better soon! Best of luck, babe! And don't worry...mono is very common for teenagers, so you won't be the only one.
Love,

MFS answered Thursday October 14 2004, 7:45 pm: Testing for mononucleosis requires a blood test. Get it done. There are three types of mono. 1 & 2 are pretty bad, but you'll get better. Type 3 is very difficult to treat and very harsh - it typically leads to anemia and other maladies. Get checked out soon. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
