She will then put make-up on you and you can see the results immediately and it costs nothing. Sometimes it is wise to call ahead and make sure that someone is there.
Here are some of the places to call, remember different parts of the country have different department stores. Here are some, BosCov; Gottschalks, Macy's, Sax, etc.. So now you understand what kind of stores I am talking about.
Look for the following counters, Mack, Lancolme, Clarins, Bennefit, Chanel... Just call the department store or go in and talk to one of the girls behind the counter and tell them that you want someone to teach you to apply your make-up. They will be happy to do it. You do not have to buy anything. Then have her explain everything that you are doing and then duplicate it with more inexpensive brands with the same color schemes if your parents won't spring for the more expensive stuff. Wet and Wild has a lot of stuff for like 99 cents that works well as a duplicate.
Just make sure that you tell the girl at the counter what you want to look like. That you want a more natural look but for it to be more refined. You can go to a new counter each week. Like I said it is often best to call ahead and schedule an appointment so that you know they will have the time to show you what it will look like and pay close attention to what they are doing.
Sometimes, a simple 15 dollar eye-brow waxing will change your entire appearance or a little face make-up hides teenage blemishes with a little bronzer over the top of the lid and around the cheeks and no one can tell you are wearing anything at all.
Another must is to find the right cut for the shape of your face. A good cut can accent your best features while downplaying the ones that you don't like.
lillysplitty answered Monday October 4 2004, 8:11 pm: ok well i went through the same problem so i would just wear natural shades like light brown and stuff and tinted lipgloss ok well hope i helped some bye
Angie answered Monday October 4 2004, 6:47 pm: Ok...sounds fun! Well I would use some dark blue or dark black Eyeliner and light eyeshadow of any color and mix some colors it looks cool! Then waterproof mascara because you never know when you might cry! lol. or just regular. If you want your eyes drastic which usually looks awesome, use a lot of eye liner and use blue mascara but that might be too much. If you want use some cover up it makes your skin bronze kinda and then some light shiny lipgloss if you want...not dark lipstick trust me unless youre going to like a wedding! K hope I helped and plz rate me. If you ever need any more advice ask me!

xOCarrie answered Monday October 4 2004, 6:13 pm: Im sure your not ugly. Plus its the inner beauty that counts the most. But like i always say "If you dont like something about yourself .. change it" So I suggest if you dont want TOO much of a change, start off by wearing really light make-up and work your way up week by week by making it darker till the point that your happy with. P.s. Dont wear to much, it makes you look fake. I suggest you go for the more natural look. Good luck, and im sure your just fine the way you are.
byebyelovely answered Monday October 4 2004, 5:34 pm: Many stores have a lot of different types of shades for you, all you have to do is look for one that doesnt look too girly(ie-the bold pinks, purples ect..) maybe you should find colors that go with your skin, if you have tan skin, maybe a gold/brown color, go to Kmart, Target, even Rite aid. its really cheap and they ahev a lot of nice brands, like cover girl, revlon, wet 'n wild. dont worry about your friends, they probably think the same thing, everyone goes through that stage where they want some sort of change in their appearance. hopefully all goes well =.

XxRockon answered Monday October 4 2004, 5:30 pm: im sure ur not ugly, but if u wanna start wearing makeup thtas cool. The trick to good makeup is to make it look like yo are not wearing any at all .So start off with some neutral colors, like pinks n light browns and clear or light pink liplgosess with a little bit of eyeliner and mascara, and then if u like the way that looks u can gradually start to wear more makeup if u want to but dont wear too much cuz then it just gets clumpy and dpoesn't look good. Hope i helped [ XxRockon's advice column | Ask XxRockon A Question ]

Sherry answered Monday October 4 2004, 5:15 pm: You want to change, so if your friends are shocked just tell them you wanna look different. Change is good...a good place to go is target. Get black eyeliner, lip gloss, and blush. Thats not a lot and targets cheap. Good luck!! [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
