MoonFisher answered Monday October 4 2004, 12:30 am: I caution you against these fad diets like Atkins. They are beginning to associate it with a possibility of heart disease and high cholesterol. I recommend using the oldest diet plan in the book: burning more calories than you consume. You need to make sure you are getting your heart rate up for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week. If you are working out more than this, you don't need to cut your calories very much. Most doctors recommend a 1500 calorie a day diet if you aren't working out very much. This isn't too restrictive, and should help you lose about 2-4 lbs a week, which is ideal. Losing weight too quickly makes it easier to gain back because your body thinks it's starving and your metabolism is ruined. Slow weight loss tends to last the longest. Good luck!
