TheBeav answered Friday August 13 2004, 12:20 pm: Hmm.. ok.. First of all, it's never to early to start thinking about college! You want to make the right choice and that takes time. So..first off.. to be a doctor, you should major in a science, ie. Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry. Reason for this is because med schools require you to take certain science and math classes, and these majors put you on the right track. So, best colleges would be those strong in the sciences and mostly research universities.. like University of Miami (i'm partial.. lol), University of California, Davis... University of Virginia, and of course the Ivy Leagues.. (Harvard, Yale, Princeton..etc.).. Now, there are tons of scholarships you can get for playing a sport. You need to really excel at the sport and make sure your coach in HS helps you to find recruiters. Basically.. you really need to make sure you stay on track with school and get amazing grades... get involved in clubs and sports.. and as much as I'm sure you don't want to do this.. make friends with your teachers, because you will need recommendations when you apply to colleges. There are tons of majors out there and I suggest you start looking at schools and checking out their websites.... that tells you alot about the school, student life, and cost. Well, I hope this helps. If you have any other questions.. feel free to ask! Have a good one. [ TheBeav's advice column | Ask TheBeav A Question ]
