Going crazy

Question Posted Wednesday August 4 2004, 4:16 pm

I just went to the dentist and he gave me some shots, procliaming that the lower left side of my face, upper lip and the upper left jaw would be numb, also numb by the bottom of my nose. I'm really sensitive to numbing crap and the numbness has extended to half my face and has reached my eyelid and blinking feels funny. I HATE this sensation, i can't eat anything either, does anyone know how to make numbness go away any faster? I am about to rip my face off!

Additional info, added Wednesday August 4 2004, 4:17 pm:
I also can't move my cheek, ie smile or lift my lip. I tried to drink some milk and it ran down my shirt because I couldn't keep my mouth closed. TORTURE!.

Eeek, I *hate* that stuff =/ Try drinking through a straw, if you can. There's not really anything that makes it go away any faster .. try to take a nap or something so you'll forget about it.

Well you could rip off your face...but then you would want them to numb it agian haha or you could just have some one punch you in the face over and over and well you get the point don't you?

i would just lay down for a while and rest maybe take a nap to see if you can just ease the pain..if it doesnt go away then i would call your dentist and ask him if he has any suggestion.. i got 10 teeth pulled out a few months ago and they had to make me REALLY numb but i just laid down for a while and it went away in no time..

Man, that's rough. Call your dentist and ask them what they recommend, because the only thing I could think of would be to wait it off. Use straws when you drink, that coul d help at least a little. Sorry to hear that, really.

i just got that 2 days ago at the dentist! im afraid there is nothing you can do to speed it up except maybe a warm/hot washcloth. it does make it feel a litte more liveable, you can try it--hope it works. it takes about 3 hours to wear off so good luck!
