is it ok to go back?

Ok. Me and My x boyfriend had been going out for like 2 years almost, and broke up because he would always like other people and he would ask them out and stuff while i was with him, i couldnt really handle it anymore so we broke it off...there were a lot of problems and i use to cry myself to sleep because of it...a year passes and i havent heard from him until last night, he called me and told me he missed me and he loved me...i dont know if i should believe that he changed or not i really need help on how to decide ...
