The Europeans hate them, Romans, Germans, Chinese, Indians. Hitler and the Nazi especially. I mean,WTF? I read number the stars, and was shocked at the Nazi. But that's nothing compared to the Diary of Ann Frank! What did the Jews ever do? Why are they hated so badly and horribly for there religion? I know they don't believe in God, but is that a reason to go all psycho-crazy-harm-kill-restrict-and-make-the-Jews-suffer? I'd like to know why people are racist in general. I live in a country with no segregation, but some people are really nasty in those areas. Like a boy called a girl from a south America a “dumb immigrant" and I know some children who say they'll only marry people in there culture. Laws in country's are really unfair, if God made us all, why is everyone shunned and humiliated for stuff like religion, race, sex, lesbian/gay/strait,etc.?

It has a strict hierarchy. Top of the list is family. Every animal will strive to protect it's offspring. Driven by the desire to propogate it's OWN genetic information even if it means deliberatley harming or killing those who pose a threat. Further down the list our 'favour' falls on those we share culutural and/or nationalistic beliefs with, and indeed skin-colour. We identify with them. Basically we feel they are 'more like one of US' and anybody who does not really 'match' us is 'one of THEM'. This is the cricial driver behind all forms of prejudice. A genetically 'wired' desire to fill the earth with copies of ourselves and favour those we feel are 'like us'.
We have an inbuilt knee-jerk response, for instance to be repelled illness and physical deformity. Thankfully we as humans have the intellect to overcome these purely 'mammalian' instincts. We do not deliberately let the injured sink or swim, do not 'weed out the weakling', no longer incarcerate those with psychiatric problems. We appreciate that we are all 'world-citizens' . There is only one earth, one race. The human race. And usually try to accept (if not actually subscribe to) differences in religion, culture, sexual orientation etc. Nazi Germany was perhaps one of the most chilling examples of eugenics the world has ever seen. The proverbial 'perfect storm' of social and economic and nationalistic circumstances, world events, and a very powerful, monomatic leader. Fear, hostility and the baser human instincts gained the whip-hand and ran riot. Hopefully we'll not see it's like again. (Note Nazi Germany, not Germany per se.) In essence overcoming prejudice is acknowledging a genetic tendency and acting consciously to compensate for it and overcome it. Quite inspiring, I think? Freud would be proud!! Best wishes. soph0900 answered Wednesday April 2 2014, 5:21 pm: Your title is "why does everyone hate the Jews?"
Well, I don't hate the Jews! I'm from Europe! Not everyone does, but I can see your point.
You see, the thing with the Nazi's were that what started off as a revolution, went a little delusional. Some of the Jews, but not all, were doing particularly well for themselves in Germany at the time so they were used as a "scapegoat." Things went from bad to worse then, as you know.
Jews have done nothing. and by the way, they do believe in god. They're considered a "race" but fundamentally its a religion.
I think you've come to realise that the world is full of prejudice- and prejudice is something that is learned from others. You may even have some prejudice to certain people based on what your peers and parents tell you!
Life is unfair, and I can't answer your religions questions but....
Perhaps if you feel so strongly about it, you should take some advice from Ghandi: He said "You should be the change you wish to see in the world." [ soph0900's advice column | Ask soph0900 A Question ]
adviceman49 answered Wednesday April 2 2014, 11:23 am: If you ever come up with the answer for this question you are a shoe in for the Nobel Peace Prize.
It wasn't just the Jews that Hitler hated. Hitler hated anyone who was not a blond blue eyed German. He wanted to create the Arian race a one race world, all other races were inferior.
You ask a good question; "if God made us all, why is everyone shunned and humiliated for stuff like religion, race, sex, lesbian/gay/straight, etc?"
If everyone thought as you are thinking the world would be a better place. Why are we sending soldiers off to a far of land that means nothing to us to fight the Taliban? It wasn't the Taliban that flew the planes into the world trade center and the pentagon. In fact it wasn't long before that event this country supported the Taliban in their fight against the Russians. What changed things?
It was great as long as they were fighting the Russians we looked the other way at what they were doing at home. When we started chasing alcada then the Taliban started fighting us as they supported the ideals of alcada.
My personal feelings are that a lot of this has less to do with religion or a religious way of life than it has to do with jealousy and laziness. They want what the western world has but are not willing to work for it.
As for the sex, lesbian, gay, strait this is mostly fear of someone or something that is different that is not understood.
I wish I had a better answer for you. The question you have asked at the moment has no answer if it did you would not have had to ask it. Thanks for asking it hopefully others will read it and at least think about it. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]
Dragonflymagic answered Tuesday April 1 2014, 8:12 pm: Hated for their religion? Maybe but there's more to it than that. Jews were singled out by Hitler.
But worse than that,in general on a daily basis, someone somewhere in the world is singling out another person from a culture different than theirs. And its not always about religion. Its not just religion that makes us ridicule, bully, exclude, harm and kill other people who are different than us. They eat different foods and cook differently, dress in some cases differently, have differing sex practices or orientations, sound different/accents, look different, act different, have different customs and ways of running their home or raising their kids, you name it, if its different people have a problem with it. The problem in general for the majority is not hatred, but that as humans, we are creatures of habit, we don't like change in our lives and we tend to fear that which is new to us, or at least be uncomfortable enough to avoid it. I would say its fair that some people do expose themselves to getting to know another culture and for some reason meet up with not just one but 3 or 4 incidences where someone from that culture treated us unkindly so we form a bias, or it happened to a friend and we take on their bias, all people of that culture must be rude and to be avoided.
I still remember my own incidences with a particular group of people from a particular culture I wont name to feed into the bias's, but the apts i lived in had parking that ran in a circle the perimeter of the apt complex of which half the residents were of this country of origin, because it was easy for the managers to collect rent cus it came from the state, paying for immigrants rent. So the issue was two different individuals who liked to block the one and only lane of the apts parking lot by parking their old car in the middle to do their own automotive care or repair. On once occasion, they had only just popped the hood open so I know it was still in running abililty and could be moved. I walked up to ask even tapping on the arms. You can't tell me both were deaf. They weren't blind either both chose not to look at me, or attempt to talk. If they did not understand English, even an idiot could tell what I wanted. I had to go to the manager for help. The one way drive through, I'd end up having to use to go the other direction cus manager knew they couldn't get anywhere with these people. I found out from the manager country of origin and as far as I could tell from research males of the country have no issues with talking to or interacting with females. I could find no cultural difference or reason so I had to assume they were a couple of inconsiderate jerks, much as you'd find in any country including ours. I am glad I chose not to become biased because soon after a female from the same country moved into the apt across from me and we became good friends. We have all a choice. But I am like the rest of humans, I don't like change in my life either, new location, new job, etc. and it becomes uncomfortable when someone brings a strangle looking food to a potluck and I discover its something i can't get my mind around to eat like brain, tongue or feet of an animal for example. If I was raised as a child eating that stuff, it would be as normal as chicken breast or hamburger to me. I run the risk of appearing rude for not trying it, but its silly stuff like that, people taking things too personally that start them being mad at someone from another culture. And these experiences are passed on to others who as a group begin to form opions. There are many others ways that the poison of bias, non acceptance and hatred for those different come about. It's all wrong but these are some reasons why. [ Dragonflymagic's advice column | Ask Dragonflymagic A Question ]
