Question Posted Friday June 25 2004, 11:29 pm

Sometimes I feel as if I'm living a double life. At school, I cuss a little, wear makeup and more expensive clothes; at at church I'm all "love everybody" and pretty much a model Christian-youth prez and ultra-volunteer. Please help!

Well, I suppose it depends. Who do you feel you are? If you're more comfortable and satisfied with your life away from church, then, spend less time at church. If that's not an option, then don't get so involved when you go. If you feel that relgion is more important to you, try to stop swearing, etc, get Jesus more into your life. Explain to your friends what you're trying to do, and, if they're your friends, they'll support you and help you through whichever you choose. If not, drop them, because you'll be better off without and find nicer people who believe what you do.
Remaking yourself can be hard, but remember, "If you don't lie, you don't have to remember anything."
Blegh, I sound preachy.

I think that you need to be true to yourself . If you are a believer in GOD , you can not be a good Christian just on Sunday . You need to do it 24 / 7 so if you want to stop swearing go ahead and stop you can if you really try your hardest. Also when it comes to wearing make - up and expnsive clothes that is not horrible it was they look like that could be . I have faith that you will make the right decision for you .

it sounds to me that you are changing who you are to make your peers think your "bad" which for somereson, people think is cool and tough. What is cool is being true to yourself and not getting aids or dying from drugs and alcohol. Im not accusing but peer presure can be very disruptive. God will give you credit for being a faithful christian and doing what is right even if it isnt considered "cool". Stand up for what is right, even if your standing alone. Much love, melissa

blonde answered Friday June 25 2004, 11:33 pm:
You should be the person that you are. If you are the one that wears the name brand clothes, then be that person at church. If you are the ultra-volunteer, then don't cuss at school. You need to find who you really are, but it is okay to be both those people. You just like to please the crowd you are with.

Which you is the real you? The church-girl or the school-girl? Start with prayer. Tell God you know you've messed up and that you want to change. Expect him to help you, but know that you have to work at it too. It's up to you what you choose who you want to be, but you have to believe in it and want to live it. Then Find someone to hold you accountable. Give them your list. Tell them they can call you on it anytime you are not living what you belive.
