I do everything I am suppose to to lose weight. I eat healthy and in smaller amounts, I excerscise often and I monitor my weight on my scale. I am 14yrs old, 5ft 4in and 143 lbs.! That is so huge!!! Why doesn't anything work? Some people might just say it could be some muscle but I am so flabby and huge I look more like I weigh 200 lbs. Please help me! (link)

ok first off you do not look like you weight 200lbs. That's just a little ridiculous. Imagine 58 pounds of ground meat, and paste it on you. Do you really look that big? If you still think you do i suggest seaking advice from an expert. How long have you been eating healthy, exercising, etc. If it's only been a few weeks then thats no big deal, everyone looses weight differently, i'm 5'7 and weigh 148 and it takes me like a month to loose 4 lbs. Don't expect results to be immediate, just take it slow and remember you dont look as bad as you think. I do have some weight loss tips that will help, but again, there is no easy way to loose weight that won't land you in a phychiatric ward eating food out of a toob. Here's an excerpt from another advice column i wrote. By the way, on the body mass index, you are not overweight, and are miles away from obese!
Dieting: Watch you calorie intake your meals should even out to about 220 calories, and you should have one or two HEALTHY snacks a day (Fruit, a nutrigrain bar, yogurt, etc.) If your really watching your calories try to even out at around 1,200 to 1,500 a day. Remember to eat lots of vegatbles, and not a lot of bread. Look for things that are fat free or low fat. Drink skim milk or two percent instead of whole. Eat wheat bread instead of white. Put extra lettuce on a hamburger (not one that you got from mcdonalds, you'll definatly want to avoid fastfood, like it's poison. Did you know that in one fast food sticky bun there are 2,000 calories! That's astronomical! You actually have to plan out how to get that much fat into such a small pastry!) Read articles on websites from the south beach diet or weight watchers. (weight watchers is an excellent diet that keeps you healthy and gives you a set plan and point system, i recomend checking it out if you aren't disciplined enough to diet on your own.) Find out recipes that are healthy and easy, o yeah and avoid anything freid! (By the way sushi is great for you and almost no fat at all. and celery actually burns calories, put some peanut butter on celery or on an apple, that makes a great snack. Remember to never stop drinking water, at least six cups a day! And you need to eat to loose weight the healthy way, if you stop eating your metabolism slows down. Also make sure to eat breakfast, even if it's something small, it is especially inmportant to get you metabolism going in the morning. You loose less weight if you don't eat breakfast. Also, set up a "break" day once a week were you can treat yourself to all the yummies you missed out on! But be careful not to add on "one more day" to your little weekly delights. Lastly, avoid sitting infront of the T.V. and eating, people don't realize how much they munch while sitting like mindless zombies in front of the bright, shiny box. And if you absolutly have to munch on something don't take a whole box of cheezeits and proceed to consume them all! Poor some in a cup, eat those, asses if your still hungry or just bored. If your just bored go find something to do other than eating, staring at a wall can be more enticing than gaining weight sometimes. If you are still hungry by all means continue munchin UNTIL your full (and not stuffed to the point of wretching, just comfortable, and not feeling like you'd die if you didn't eat!) Don't eat just to eat, only when your hungry!
Excercise:
Excercise is and asset! Join a gym if possible, then you can get on a treadmill and see exactly how many calories you burn. Don't exercise maniacally every day. You will burn up all your will to be healthy! (unless of course you happen to be one of those people who has to run 10 miles every day or they lock themselves up and cry hysterically, it's best to avoid such frowned upon crying experiences.) Pick 3 days atleast, and go jogging. Train yourself to go further and further each time. The more calories you burn off the easier it will be to loose weight. I'm a bit lax myself on the excercise area (i'm ahamed to say" but i'm working on it!) For more extensive information on exercise try calling a gym or visiting just once to get some tips from those avid exercisers! For me running is the most effective weight loss mechanism, it is actually fun (sometimes) to! Especially if you have music to run to! Give it a try, find your niche. And if you just can bring yourself to exercise, any progress is good right?
I hope this helps!

IM 15/f and i really like this kid who has a gf and turns 18 today. i've practicaly changed part of my life to win him over. I think i;m going to give up b/c he has a gf. i talked to him a while ago. i was stupid last month and told him i loved him. he said he kinda liked me but he has a gf. she is 17. I started to dress different and listen to different music and like different things. do you think i should give up on him and just stop thinking/talking to him/seeing him. or should i act like everything is fine? he is going to help me this summer to helo me join the basketball team next year. im rly excited. i dont know what to do though b/c everytime i see him or talk to him i fall in love with him again. he flirts with me and everything and i love it. but, i dont know if i can do it anymore. so do you think i should forget all about him and move on or should i just continue getting my heart broken when i see him and just wait for something to finally happen? i rate good answers.
thanks!! (link)

ok so say you win him, he dumps his current girl for you etc. well whats to stop him from doing it again? He could drop you like a hot coal for the next girl who professes her undying love to him. Also, a big warning sign in your head should go off when you begin changing yourself to make someone like you. Don't conform to what he likes, be your own person. Don't you want him to like YOU! What is going to happen when you decide your sick of pretending to be someone your not, i'd focus more on finding i guy who would love you for you, only have eyes for you, and who wouldn't want you to change for him. Your probably more attracted to this guy than in love with him anyway. There are plenty of fish in the sea, find one who will love you, respect you, and take care of you. By the way stop going after guys who you can't have (aka involved, dating, married especially) you only set yourself up for dissapointment, and how would you like it if a girl kept throwing herself at your boyfreind. You can tell a lot about a guy from his past realationships, and how he treated his other girlfriends, if you don't want the treatment he gives his current girl why would he treat you differently. Is he polite, does he open the door for her? or walk down the stairs infront of her incase she falls... think about it a little.

I have no idea how to apply makeup, like foundation and powder or whatever...I'm 16 and I feel like its time to learn. I can do my eyes, but my face there just seems like so many steps and it confuses me! Can anyone explain for me how you do it and what you need and such on so forth? (link)

Here are a few tips...
Always wash you face really well before applying makeup. If you have a good complexion then you do not need foundation. (This includes having a few pimples, for those you just take a little dap of coverup, or even some foundation, and cover the problem area. Blot it out with your finger after you let it dry a little.) After your face is washed and and blemishes you may have at the time are taken care of liberally apply loose powder over your entire face. This should take care of any remaining inconsistancies. After this you do you eyes, which are the hard part. I have a few tips for those too, even though you have it down already, it can never hurt to improve. Put the lighter shade of eyeshadow on your eye from lashes almost to the eyebrows. apply the darker shade only from lashes to the middle of your eye. Using your finger, blend the two colors in the middle (This is a very important step, especially with unatural colors like blues, greens etc. I myself like to stick with natural tones, browns, and gold/bronze colors, but it depends on your taste and what you feel comfortable with.) Take the 'white' color eyeshadow and apply a little under the eyebrow, blend it with your background color. If you want you can then apply eyeliner and masscare (please go easy on these two, the point of makeup is to enhance your facial features, not hide them!) Also be careful not to het a eyeliner or masscare that your alergic to! That causes some majur issues, trust me! Lastly, the lipstick! I don't even wear lipstick most of the time as i find it aggravating and a major source of hair in my mouth when i wear my hair down. But for the lovers of the stick, put some on your upper and bottom lip and then rub them together. If your like me and despise your hair sticking to you lips, try one of those drying lipsticks (you know the 12 hour won't come off kind) , they're like hell trying to get off, but by god your hair will not stick to your lips.

Have you ever had a freind spend the night, and in the morning you just don't want them to be there any more. It's not that you don't like the person, you might just have other plans, or want some alone time. You don't want to tell them to leave though because they seem to be having a good time, or you don't want to hurt their feelings. Some people, like you, may feel comfortable when their freinds tell them it's time to go home. However, others might feel very hurt, or that the freind in question really doesn't like them at all. To avoid these feelings of pain and confusion, sometimes people create little white lies to get out of situations that could potentially hurt their freinds. You've probably done the same thing before yourself, and if you haven't try to see where your freind is coming from. She just didn't want to hurt your feelings most likely. If it still agravates you that she "lied" simply discuss with her that you'd rather her just tell you when she needs some "alone time." If she's really a good freind she'll listen to you and she probably won't mind telling you "it's time to go." Right now she doesn't know anything is wrong, you have to communicate a little. Tell her when something is aggravating you, she probably had no idea. Also, let her know she can tell you when something you do aggravates her! You freindship will be a lot more of a FREINDSHIP if you actually talk to and know about one another.
hope this helps

I'm 5'4 and about 145-160 lbs. Verrry fat in my opinion but i don't really look THAT bad other than that. I was wondering if it's possible to lose about 25 lbs by August 19th or around there? If so, how. Please be specific on good && bad foods && excersizes (how many, how long, etc.) Also, does anybody know any REALLY good acne creams? Thank you soo much (link)

Some advice on acne, stay away from any greasy foods (pizza, chips, etc.) and wash your face every morning and night. (even more if possible) If you like fish (especially salmon) that type of food is amazing for your complexion. Also make sure whatever makeup (if you wear a lot of makeup) you use is hypoalergenic as wearing anything that your alergic to (even slightly alergic)or that just irritates you skin can double the amount of blemishes that "pop up" weekly. Also, make sure you always avoid sleeping with makeup on!
As for weight loss tips, i have a few from past experience struggling with my own weight (i'm 5'7 and weigh 148") Make sure not to go on any crazy diets (like eating peanut buter sandwiches for a month!) Stick to what you know will work, the two basics. Eating healthy and excercising regularly. Start out slow, don't decide to eliminate all bad food and become a fitness freak. Remember to loose weight and keep it off you have to make a lifestyle change. Focus on being healthy and not on being "skinny" or you'll just make yourself miserable. Also remember loosing weight doesn't happen overnight. Expect to loose 2-4 lbs. the first week your "dieting" and expect weight loss to slow down after that. Don't weigh yourself obsessivly or stand in front of the mirror staring at yourself either! You can weigh yourself once every two weeks, record your weight, and i promise you'll see progress if you stick to your diet and excercise.
Dieting: Watch you calorie intake your meals should even out to about 325-425 calories, and you should have one or two HEALTHY snacks a day (Fruit, a nutrigrain bar, yogurt, etc.) If your really watching your calories try to even out at around 1,500 a day. Remember to eat lots of vegatbles, and not a lot of bread. Look for things that are fat free or low fat. Drink skim milk or two percent instead of whole. Eat wheat bread instead of white. (By the way sushi is great for you and almost no fat at all. and celery actually burns calories, put some peanut butter on celery or on an apple, that makes a great snack. Remember to never stop drinking water, at least six cups a day! When your body doesn't get enough water it starts to retain water... making you feel bloated and swolen. Drinking a lot of water can keep you 2-4 pounds slimmer than if you stay in a semi-dehydrated state constantly. (Please, don't go crazy though, it is quite possible to do a whole lot of damage in one day. Don't make every meal an enormous binge on fattening foods. Eat a healthy breakfast, then because it's your break day you can eat 5-6 bagel bites with lunch... a nutra-grain bar for a snack, a chicken salad for dinner, and maybe a piece of cake after dinner. NOT 20 bagel bites, and 4 pieces of cake!) But be careful not to add on "one more day" to your little weekly delights.
