I cannot speak for that product as I have never used it. I do, however, use RCMA translucent powder and would highly recommend it to anyone. MAC also makes a very good one called blot powder.
These are more pricey but very well worth it.
If you're looking to save money, Physicians Formula (my favorite "cheapy" brand) makes a reasonably nice translucent powder and is available for purchase at any department store. However, I find that it does not have the staying power and light, smooth finish that the previous two do. It also comes with a brush that is as good as useless for application. If you do not have one already, look into purchasing a kabuki brush.

Q: a few months ago i got my hair relaxed so now there is way less curls than before. im thinking about dying my hair and im wondering will the relax fade away or something after i dye it and will i have all my curls back?

Your relaxed hair is fine to go ahead and dye. It will not affect anything.
For future reference, always wait at least 48 hours (preferably longer) between relaxing your hair and dyeing it and always have your hair relaxed FIRST as doing it after will fade your color. As always, keep your hair conditioned to ensure it remains healthy through the chemical processing.

Most lice shampoos contain ingredients that can dry out and damage your hair. Dry and damaged hair will break off more often than nourished hair will.
Do you color or perm your hair? Do you use heat to style such as a blow dryer, curling iron, hot curlers, etc? This can contribute to the problem by further damaging your hair.
I doubt that your problem is a direct cause of just the lice shampoo you used a year ago. However, this shampoo could have compromised your hair leaving it vulnerable to further damange and dryness if you did not take care of your hair after the treatment.
Make sure you buy a rich conditioner for your hair and that you use it regularly. You MUST keep your hair conditioned to prevent any more breakage. Keep any styling gels or hairsprays away from your hair for awhile. Also, be sure to keep your hair trimmed of all split ends to ensure that it retains a healthy, soft look.
If you find that over time this does not help you and your problem is severe enough, you might want to consider seeing a dermatologist.

First of all, I applaud you in your decision to end a relationship that was moving too quickly for you. That can be a very hard thing to do.
Now that you feel ready to have sex, I would advise you to talk to someone who can help you if you have not already. Your mother, your doctor (anything you share with your doctor, minor or not, will be held in confidence) or you can visit a local planned parenthood. Arm yourself with knowledge of your body and how it works, about sexually transmitted diseases and about contraception. This is the only way to ensure your own health and safety. I hope that you're already on birth control. Do not rely on condoms alone to prevent pregnancy or even all types of sexually transmitted disease. Of course, once you begin having sex, make sure you visit a gynecologist regularly for an exam.
Do not give your body to anyone out of fear that you will never find someone who will love and care for you. Making the decision to have sex is an adult decision and for that reason, you must exercise mature caution and restraint.
You know in your heart that you would regret the decision to sleep with him. Trust in what your heart is telling you. Very rarely is it ever wrong.
You are only 17 with many, many years ahead of you. At your age, it is more common that you have not found the person for you. You need to grow and mature and develop the ability to stand on your own two feet confidently before you ever consider sharing your heart and your life with someone else.
We all feel this way at one time or another. It's perfectly natural as the fear of being alone is the greatest we have. Please try to concentrate on having fun with your friends and on continuing your education at this point in time.
Your self worth is not dependent upon having a boyfriend. Period. You will find someone who will love you. Remember that high school is so small in comparison to the world. The one for you may simply be waiting somewhere else. Through college, your career and your every day life you will meet many incredible people. Just take a deep breath and relax!

Unfortunately, you cannot fully get rid of under eye circles as the degree of their appearance can often times be hereditary. Remember that the dark coloring is caused by a combination swelling under the eyes and for lack of a better term, leaking capillaries.
Make sure you are getting an adequate amount of sleep every night. When you do not sleep enough, your body is under more stress which can in turn release hormones that stimulate swelling and contribute to your problem.
Your diet can also have alot to do with it. Try limiting your intake of sugar and caffeine and increasing your intake of iron.
It would benefit you to invest in an eye cream with Ester C and Vitamin K. Ester C (which can also be taken as a dietary supplement with the same benefits) stimulates collagen production which thickens the skin beneath your eyes making the dark color less visible. It will also diminish puffiness. Vitamin K strengthens the capillaries.
Correcting concealer is also a great way to hide them. Correcting concealer comes in a variety of colors depending upon which type of imperfection you are trying to hide. In your case, you will need yellow. Yellow will balance the blue tones of your circles. Once you have applied this, follow up with your regular cover up concealer that should be a shade or two lighten than your skin tone. You can often buy duos which are both corrective and cover up concealers packaged together. Make sure that you apply your concealer (in small dots that you will dab into your skin where you see darkness) after your foundation, that you dab instead of rub the concealer onto your skin and that you are not using your fingers. The oils and bacteria on your hands can cause breakouts on your face.
You could also use an eye brightening cream beneath your cover up concealer to hide under eye circles.
I personally use liquid makeup but what you will want to use is largely dependent upon your skin type. If you have oily, acne prone skin it would probably be best to use powder.
If you are able to use liquid, I would suggest topping off your foundation with a translucent powder to help it set and last longer. This will also reduce any oily effect that liquid makeup can sometimes produce. When applying your concealer, remember to apply it AFTER your foundation and BEFORE your finishing powder.
Hope this helps and good luck

Q: (16/m)
I know it may be too early to worry about my future, but I figure why not start worrying now? ;]
Anyway- here's my "dilemma". I'm planning on pursuing a career in the medical field, most likely something cardiac related. I'm worried about being able to pay off the cost of college and medical school. Is it true that you start making money during residency? If not, when do you start making money, and usually how much do you make starting off?
If you are a doctor or you know someone in your family who is a doctor, how long did it take them to start working in their specialized job, as in, how long was it before they became a brain surgeon, podiatrist, cardiologist, or any other profession? How does that work?
Is going into the medical field really rewarding or is it extremely stressful?
Thank you for any responses =].
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

Yes, you will be paid a salary during residency. The amount is dependent upon your area of concentration, your experience and obviously where you are doing your residency.
A starting salary for a resident can be anywhere from $30,000 to $45,000 before taxes. This is quite a small salary for the number of hours you will be putting in (about 80hrs a week) and for the expenses of medical school.
This will NOT go a very long way in allowing you to pay of your loans, especially if you are living on your own and paying your own bills which you will most likely be doing.
There is an option to defer your loan payments while in residency but again, this depends on who you take your loan out with. Remember though that you will incur interest during that time. More than half of med students are in debt once they graduate so the hope of getting out unscathed isn't really even worth entertaining. You can look into scholarships and such as the time nears.
As far as how long it will take to become a doctor? You will have 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, an internship year during which you will get your medical license and then you will begin residency which can be anywhere from 2 to 7 years. Board certification in any specialty can be offered anywhere from directly after residency to after 1-2 years of practice. The educational process after that is ongoing as advancements are made in medicine.
Working in the medical field myself, I'm not going to lie to you. It's very stressful, you are not paid enough for the amount of work that you do and the hours are long. It is very, very rewarding but you need to really be able to work well under stress and make important decisions quickly in emergencies. A strong desire for what you do and ALOT of self-motivation doesn't hurt either!
Good luck!

Q: i just died my hair to a dark brown..my original color is light brown and it looked verry pretty for the first few days..well now it's about a week later and my hair has gotten a lot lighter and the color is fading already! the dye we used is garnier and it said it was perminant...so any advice on a different brand or anything! i want to find hair dye that will last a lot longer than that!

Before you even begin to dye your hair, make sure it is thoroughly conditioned and in good enough shape to dye in the first place. Dry, damaged hair will not hold color.
Invest in a protein filler before you begin coloring. This will make a world of difference in how your color looks and how long it will last. The filler can be colored or in neutral(clear) and is available for purchase at any salon. Apply it to your hair and let it set for the required time before you apply your dye. You do not need to rinse the filler before you apply the dye.
Once you have dyed your hair, it is best not to shampoo for at least a day or two after to ensure that your hair has had time to effectively accept the color. Afterward, use a shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for color treated hair and rinse it with cool water. There are also color tinted shampoos available that will freshen your hair color a bit. You MUST make sure to keep your hair conditioned.
If you use a tanning bed, cover your hair before you do so as exposure to the lamps will cause some fading.
Hope this helps!

Q: mmkay well I know that no one really likes to talk about political things because it brings up a lot of contreversy. But I feel like I'm confused with my political party status. So if you could..could you help me by giving me information on all the political parties in the U.S. (like their beliefs and what they live by)? So that way it'll be easier for me to determine which political party I belong to. Thanks so much,

You can find information on the different political parties here: http://www.govspot.com/categories/politicalparties.htm
You can also try visiting your local party headquarters. They are always more than willing to give you the information you need to educate yourself.
Remember that many, many Americans fall somewhere in the middle. It's really best to research each candidate and make a decision based on their policies rather than their parties. Just because a candidate is running under a specific party name does not mean (s)he abides by or advocates every party standard.

It is for both. According to the company,
NIVEA Soft is a highly effective moisturising cream for everyday use on your face, body and hands.
I have never had a problem with this moisturizer giving me breakouts or any other type of skin irritation and my skin is very sensitive. It's a great product!

Q: Usually when I apply eyeliner, it makes my eyes look smaller.

If you're applying eyeliner beneath your bottom lashes, stop. It will make your eyes appear smaller. If you MUST apply to your bottom lashes, line ONLY the outter third. On your upper lash line, try thickening the liner line as you near the outter edges of your lashes. Extend the line just past the edges of your eyes. This will make your eyes appear wider. Also, line the inner corners of your eyes with a white liner or (as I prefer to do) apply a shimmer powder to the inner corners of your eyes.
I would not advocate lining your waterline. Makeup is a breeding ground for bacteria and though some women will swear by it, it just isn't healthy for your eyes.
Curl your lashes and apply mascara. I'll paste a bit of advice I offered on achieving long, thick lashes.
I would suggest using a product called Ready to Wear Lash Extension. It's FABULOUS. It gives the same effect that false lashes do but without all of the hastle of glue and application.
It's basically a tube of very small black fibers that attach to the tips of your eyelashes. You apply a coat of mascara, then apply the extensions to the ends of your lashes (before your mascara dries!) and then reapply your mascara to lock them in place. You can repeat these steps as often as you like, depending upon how long and thick you want your lashes to appear. It takes a few applications to get it just right but really it's very easy to apply and it looks fantastic.
If you choose to try this out, I would use a mascara with an exact/high definition lash brush. I find that my lashes tend to look clumpy with this product otherwise. I personally use CG Lash Blast (it's in a big, orange tube)
You can buy the extensions here:
http://beauty.hsn.com/ready-to-wear-lash-extension_p-3567858_xp.aspx
I don't personally think eyeshadow is very necessary for everyday wear. I just sweep some shimmer on my browbone to further open my eyes.
If you're looking for affordable makeup, I've found a few products that I really love. For an eye shimmer, I use Physicians Formula Natural Eyelight and for liner, I use Revlon ColorStay liquid liner. It comes in a small black tube. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It creates really defined lines that stay all day.
Hope this helps!

Q: So I'm about to have sex with my boyfriend who is 16. We have been dating for about a year. I am a f/15. We love eachother very much and I'm excited/nervous to do it; but, I am also very self conscious. I mean, I have hair in places, and pimples or white dots on my nipples? What do I do, they won't go away? Plus, I'm not even sure what to do when we are about to do it or attempting. HELP PLEASE.

I'm sure the "white dots" you're talking about are montgomery glands. This is normal and a perfect example of why you need to empower yourself with knowledge about your body and how it works before you EVER think about having sex.
You cannot effectively prevent/treat/recognise pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases or basic feminine problems that can accompany sex (especially at your age) if you are not educated about your body.
It shocks me how so many of you young girls don't know the first thing about something as simple as your own anatomy but are jumping into bed with your boyfriends.
I would encourage you to take a trip down to your local planned parenthood for a rundown first. It would also benefit you to get on birthcontrol if you are not already. Do not tell me that you can't tell your mother you're having sex. If you want to make an adult decision, then you need to act like an adult and have an open and honest discussion with someone who can help you.
I'm not trying to talk down to you or ridicule your decision. I work in the medical field and I have seen COUNTLESS numbers of young girls just like you fall into problems they're simply too immature to deal with. I would personally advise you AGAINST having sex but if you choose to have sex anyway, please educate yourself and use protection every single time.
