The morning-after pill — a form of emergency birth control — is used to prevent a woman from becoming pregnant after she has had unprotected sex. Morning-after pills are generally considered safe, but many women are unaware that they exist.
Here's how the morning-after pill works. Human conception rarely occurs immediately after intercourse. Instead, it occurs as long as several days later, after ovulation. During the time between intercourse and conception, sperm continue to travel through the fallopian tube until the egg appears. So taking emergency birth control the "morning after" isn't too late to prevent pregnancy.
The active ingredients in morning-after pills are similar to those in birth control pills, except in higher doses. Some morning-after pills contain only one hormone, levonorgestrel (Plan B), and others contain two, progestin and estrogen. Progestin prevents the sperm from reaching the egg and keeps a fertilized egg from attaching to the wall of the uterus (implantation). Estrogen stops the ovaries from releasing eggs (ovulation) that can be fertilized by sperm.
The morning-after pill is designed to be taken within 72 hours of intercourse with a second dose taken 12 hours later. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, dizziness, menstrual changes and headache. According to the manufacturer, the morning-after pill is more than 80 percent effective in preventing pregnancy after a single act of unprotected sex.
Morning-after pills aren't the same as mifepristone (Mifeprex), the so-called abortion pill. Emergency contraceptive pills such as Plan B prevent pregnancy. The abortion pill terminates an established pregnancy — one in which the fertilized egg has attached to the uterine wall and has already begun to develop.
Plan B is available to women and girls age 17 and older without a prescription at most pharmacies. You must show proof of age to purchase Plan B. For girls age 16 and younger, Plan B is available only with a doctor's prescription.

I know that stem cell research has to do with babies or something. I'm just confused what it is exactly because I know it was a big thing when Bill Clinton was in office and when George W. Bush was in office the first time. I don't remember what it was or anything though. Something about abortions? I don't know....
What is stem cell research? (link)
|
There exists a widespread controversy over human embryonic stem cell research that emanates from the techniques used in the creation and usage of stem cells. Human embryonic stem cell research is controversial because, with the present state of technology, starting a stem cell line requires the destruction of a human embryo and/or therapeutic cloning. However, recently, it has been shown in principle that adult stem cell lines can be manipulated to generate embryonic-like stem cell lines using a single-cell biopsy similar to that used in preimplantation genetic diagnosis that may allow stem cell creation without embryonic destruction.[37] It is not the entire field of stem cell research, but the specific field of human embryonic stem cell research that is at the center of an ethical debate.
Opponents of the research argue that embryonic stem cell technologies are a slippery slope to reproductive cloning and can fundamentally devalue human life. Those in the pro-life movement argue that a human embryo is a human life that is entitled to protection.
Contrarily, supporters of embryonic stem cell research argue that such research should be pursued because the resultant treatments could have significant medical potential. It is also noted that excess embryos created for in vitro fertilization could be donated with consent and used for the research.
The ensuing debate has prompted authorities around the world to seek regulatory frameworks and highlighted the fact that stem cell research represents a social and ethical challenge.

My mom just left me and I don't know what to do! We got into a big fight because she was talking to this guy on the phone a lot and I asked her if she was cheating on my dad. She got really mad and went into her bedroom for awhile. When she came out she had some things packed and told me she was going to go somewhere else where she is appreciated more. I don't know what to do! My dad is gone for another 2 weeks and I don't know what I'm suppose to do in this situation. Do I call the police and tell them I'm alone and stuff and I don't know WHEN or even IF my mom is going to come back? I'm scared. (link)
|
Okay, first off. Take a deep breath. This isn't your fault at all, remember that.
Your mom is being highly irresponsible for leaving you alone.
Is there anyway you can contact your dad?
If not, any other family members or friends who live close by?
You probably won't have to explain the situation to other friends or family, just say you need a place to stay for a while.
If you can get ahold of your dad, I'm sure he'll come home as soon as he can.
If you absolutley can't get ahold of ANYONE, I suggest calling the police.
You can't be left to fend for yourself for two weeks.

I just bought the Sims 3 game and I wanted to install it onto my computer. I inserted the first disk into the computer but nothing popped up on my computer like I thought it should. I mean, there's nothing to click to get the installation started or anything, right? What am I doing wrong? How can I install the Sims 3 if my computer doesn't pop the information up? (link)
|
Go into the Start Menu.
Click "Run."
A box will click up, and there will be options.
Click "Browse."
Then click "My Computer."
From there you should see the The Sims 3 Icon in the disk drive you inserted it in.
Double click on it, and the installation should start. If this doesn't work, let me know!

How do you know if a male has a yeast infection? If so what cream can thay use to cure it? (link)
|
Sometimes symptoms are not present. If symptoms are not present and your sex partner tells you she has a yeast infection, it is best to go to the doctor.
When symptoms are present, the most common symptoms of a penile yeast infection are:
* irritation and soreness of the head of the penis
* severe itching on the head of the penis
* a white, clumpy discharge
* redness color on the head of the penis
* small blisters on the head of the penis.
The most commonly used over the counter medications used to treat male yeast infections are the same products that are used to cure female yeast infections. That’s because the very same yeast that causes vaginal yeast infections in women can cause infections in men.
Men can safely use over the counter antifungal treatments such as Monistat even those these products are labeled “for vaginal use.” Over the counter medications like Monistat are marketed to women because genital yeast infections are much more common in women than in men. Other commonly used over the counter medications are Lamisil, Micatin and Lotrimin. Vagisil cream can be used to help relieve itchiness and burning until the yeast infection is cured.
To treat a male yeast infection apply the over the counter medication directly to the affected skin on your penis twice daily for a week. If the rash doesn’t go away after a week or if it recurs frequently, you should get a medical evaluation. Persistent or recurring yeast infections can be associated with other chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and HIV. If your yeast infection is caused by an underlying medical condition, the infection will not improve until the underlying medical condition is addressed.
While treating a male yeast infection be sure to do the following:
· Wash and dry the affected area with a clean towel.
· Apply the antifungal cream, powder or spray as directed.
· Change clothes, especially underwear, every day.
Many holistic practitioners recommend that men who are trying to cure a yeast infection with over the counter products also eat yogurt daily. Yogurt contains acidophilus which helps restore the natural PH balance in your body. Buttermilk can also play a role in restoring PH balances.

At your age, boys can be a little immature and some might find it "gross."
But in all actuality, a hairy vagina is natural and as you get older, most men don't mind it at all. In fact a lot of men prefer it.
If you are very worried about it, you can easily trim the hair with a pair of scissors.

Yeah, we all know that throughout the years Michael Jackson slowly became a white man. Everyone knows Michael Jackson started as a black kid, right? Remember, the Jackson 5...
Anyway, I know some years ago he claimed he had some sort of skin disorder that caused his skin to turn white or lose pigment or something, but nobody really believed that.
I'm just curious, I guess. How did Michael Jackson change his skin color? I am assuming that the disorder he said he suffered from was false...right? (link)

Michael Jackson did not bleach his skin.
He suffered from 2 diseases actually.
From Wikipedia:
Jackson's skin was a medium-brown color throughout his youth, but, starting in the mid 1980s, his skin gradually grew more pale. This change gained widespread media coverage, including rumors that Jackson was bleaching his skin. However, in the mid-1980s, Jackson was diagnosed with vitiligo and lupus, the latter of which is potentially lethal but was in remission in Jackson's case. Both conditions made Jackson sensitive to overexposure to sunlight, which could have caused his lupus condition to reawaken. To treat both these conditions Jackson used Solaquin, Tretinoin and Benoquin. He also had hydroxychloroquine injected directly into his scalp regularly. Taraborrelli stated that the treatments he used for his condition further lightened his skin tone, and with the application of pancake makeup to even out his skin tone, he could appear very pale.
In February 1993, Jackson gave an unusually candid ninety-minute interview with Oprah Winfrey, his first televised interview since 1979. During this interview, he dismissed suggestions that he bleached his skin, admitting publicly for the first time that he had the illness. The interview was watched by 62 million Americans. It also started a public discourse on the topic of vitiligo, a relatively unknown condition before then.During the Australian leg of the HIStory World Tour, Jackson married his dermatologist's nurse, Deborah Jeanne Rowe. The pair first met in the mid-1980s, when Jackson was diagnosed with vitiligo. She spent many years treating his illness as well as providing emotional support, and they built a strong friendship before becoming romantically involved. The couple divorced in 1999 and remained friends thereafter.

which ones help curb your appetite the best?
or just work well in general?
dont lecture me about losing weight by excercising. of course im going to do that too. (link)
|
I personally have used many different weight loss pills, and they're not worth it.
They might help you lose 2-3 pounds, but they're expensive and have bad side effects.
And if you want to keep weight off long term, you have to teach yourself how to curb your appetite. Try drinking 8 cups of water a day, it makes your stomach feel full.
Remember that portion size is the biggest factor in weight loss.
I'm not trying to lecture you by any means, but I'm a big girl who has tried numerous ways to lose weight.
Diet pills weren't the right way.

i'm going away soon and knowing my luck i'm going to get my period =/ i'm going with my boyfriend and i never used tampons before...i've never been fingered or anything yet so i'm afraid like it won't fit...i tried multiple times and wasn't able to get it in...idk what hole to put it in really..does anyone know what kind of tampons are good for beginners and are good in water? and idk how to change them or anything please help. (link)

EDIT:
Have you tried talking to your mom or a friend about this? They might be able to explain better than I can through the computer. It sounds like you're trying to put it into the hole you pee from, which isn't correct.

1. Sit or stand in a comfortable position. Some women prefer to place one leg on the toilet seat or tub, while others prefer to squat down. After you find a position that is most comfortable for you, hold the tampon with the fingers that you write with. Hold the middle of the tampon, at the spot where the smaller, inner tube inserts into the larger, outer tube. Make sure the string is visible and pointing away from your body.
2. With your other hand, open the labia (the folds of skin around the vaginal opening) and position the tampon in the vaginal opening.
3. Gently push the tampon into the opening, aiming for the small of your back. Stop when your fingers touch your body and the applicator, or outer tube, is completely inside the vagina.
4. Once the applicator or outer tube is inside of you, use your index finger to push the inner tube (the tube where the removal string is visible) through the outer tube. This pushes the tampon into the vagina.
5. Once the inner tube is all the way in, use your thumb and middle finger to remove the applicator or outer tube. Make sure that the string hangs outside of the vaginal opening. Later, when you are ready to remove the tampon, hold the string and gently pull it downward until the entire tampon is out.
If the tampon is inserted correctly, you should not feel it. If you feel uncomfortable in any way, you may have inserted the tampon incorrectly or the tampon may not be placed far enough into the vagina. If this happens, just remove the tampon and start again with a new tampon. Remember that practice makes perfect. If you don't get it on the first try, your second try will most likely be successful. Instead of getting frustrated and giving up, relax and try again!
* Change your tampons at least every 4-8 hours or more often if necessary.
* Choose the correct tampon absorbency. Use smaller sized tampons when your flow is lighter. TSS occurs more often when super-absorbent tampons are used. Don't use these unless your menstrual flow is particularly heavy.
* Alternate between pad and tampon use. You might want to use pads at night, and tampons in the daytime.
* Wash your hands before inserting or taking out your tampon.
* Don't use tampons to absorb anything other than your menstrual flow. Only insert a tampon once menstrual blood is present.
