I am freakishly shy, and its a real real problem. I thought I was over it, but I went up to my new school, [it was just built so everyones new but I know like everyone there, kinda not really though] and I just couldnt act ike myself, I was so quiet, I barely said anything. I wanted to cry all night, even though I was with my friends! I guess its just akward because I switched schools 2 years ago and didnt get to see them that much so its really weird being around them yet not weird at the smae time. Im so worried about myself and what Im going to do once school comes. Please Help me
Part of what might may make you feel shy is that you're worried about what other people are thinking of you, but take heart! Everyone else is wondering the exact same thing about themselves. To be honest most people are so worried about what you think of them that they sometimes aren't thinking about you. (A little confusing but I hope you followed it ;) .)
Transition takes time, so don't be hard on yourself for not being super popular in only a short amount of time :) . Just relax and realize you are a lovely person and things will come in time. The more nervous you seem the harder it is to meet people. Take a deep breath and see each situation for what it is: not that big a deal :) .
Get involved in something on campus that you enjoy doing, not only for the sake of meeting people but because the actual thing makes you happy. You'll consequently meet lots of people that way. And never be afraid to be the first person to say hi. Everyone else is a little nervous too. To have friends you must be one.
So before you go to school have a little morning ritual that relaxes you. It can be a cup of cocoa and some music you love, or if you pray it can be some time spent in prayer, dancing around to some music while getting ready, it can even be putting on your favorite perfume and makeup in front of the mirror. Whatever it takes! Just realize everyday is an exciting opportunity and you are a person of worth and charm :) . Best of luck dearie!
i had my period last month for 2 days and it was very light. Now it is very heavy and its more than two days. Does this mean they will change each month?
In addition to all these good answers it's also important for you to know that even when you've had your period for a while your cycle can change. This is often due to a changed diet, increase in exercise, differing sleep pattern or even just plain stress.
Don't worry about it too much. However, if the changes are too great or you feel unnerved in any way always mention it to your Doctor. Always make sure you have a box of assorted tampons for different flows because it's none too helathy or comfortable to use super plus on a light day.
hey i run cross country and when i run i get this sharp pain in my shoulder does any one know what this could be?
I get something similar to that too! What it is in my case and possibly yours is a pre-existing tightness of certain muscles.
Suppose you are a student and you spend quite a good amount of time hunched over while reading, writing, typing, etc. well, this can cause a tightening and stretching of certain muscles most likely your traps and romboids (forgive the spelling). Because some muscles are tighter, the opposing muscle groups are too stretched which can massively impede mobility over time! So here's what you can do.
1. Stretches
Gently tilt your head to each side while pressing down on the top of your shoulder.
Also you can create a 90 degree angle with your arm (as if flexing a muscle in front of the mirror). now find a doorway. With your arm still in that shape press your forearm from the elbow up on the door frame. Now step through the door leaving your arm behind you still on the frame. If you don't feel a stretch, stretch your arm higher breaking the 90 degree angle and lunge through the door.
And another. Open your arms, facing them with palms towards the front. Keep your shoulders down and simply squeeze your shoulder blades together. Not so much a stretch but a movement to train your body into better posture.
2. Weight training
You'll want to use weight machines that do something called rows or rear deltoid flies.
A row pretty much looks like you are rowing a boat. Make sure you sit up straight when you pull the weight back towards yourself on rows. Another trick is to not raise your shoulders and to make the tips of your shoulder blades squeeze together.
Deltoid flies are similar, but you will be sitting down and never bending over in the machine. The trick here is to look up, keeping your neck straight and don't raise your shoulders.
Best of luck :).
I'm 14/M (I weigh around 115) & I'm trying to get a 6-pack, well, I do 300-500 situps a day, I walk 1 mile a day & I drink alot of water
well, I was reading this thing on MSN & it said that it is better to do more then 1 work out for your abs & that you should do 2
so I was wondering if you could tell me another ab work out
& with this & + the routine I already have, how long would it take for me to get a 6 pack?
thank you
Good work on your new fitness regimen! :) It's rad you're trying to get healthy.
A few things though, the first key to having visible muscle is losing fat. Someone can have lost of muscle but because it's covered in layers of fat you can't see it. So while, specific muscle centered workouts are good in order to have a lean build it must be paired with heart pumping cardiovascular workouts where you are really sweating and burning calories.
Also, form during your crunches is really important. You can be doing a lot of crunches, but if you do them the wrong way it doesn't help. Make sure your lower back is always on the ground and when you crunch don't so much curl (which can injure your back) as opposed to lift your chest off the ground while supporting your neck. Also make sure your shoulder blades are always off the ground for a more intense workout.
Varying your routine is important because in order to have the abs you want you need to work several different muscle groups that can't be targeted by crunches alone. Someone earlier reccomended a crunch where you lay on your side and lift your legs, that's good for the obliques. You can also try laying on your back and sticking your legs straight in the air, extending from the hip socket. Now without lifting your lower back and using your abs, raise your legs up and down, getting as close to the ground as possible without your back arching.
Here's a good but tough one. Assume a push up position, but have your elbows on the ground, making sure they are lined up directly from your shoulders, and rest your forearms on the ground (it should look like a 90 degree angle). Have your body fully extended, your neck extending from your spine, while balancing on your toes (like a pushup). Now hold this position while keeping your abs tight. Don't let your rear end go too high in the air, release your abs, or let your back curve into a U shape. The key is to keep your body entirely flat while holding in your abs. Try to hold the position for a minute or two, working up to longer times. Good Luck :) .
okay, even though i give out advice i need it for my room,
my room is being painted blue, and chesnut stained floor, and a mission kind of furnitur, its all dark, like everything, now i neeed things liike a bedspread or something like so, does anyone know here to get things like that??

Firstly your room sounds loverly. As for what and where, I highly reccomend either Z-Gallerie, Bombay Company (in the mall) or perhaps pottery barn. Considereing the tone of the furniture you're using PB teens might be a little garish.
As for catalogues Ballard designs is amazing. Also you could go the garage sale route and test your furniture refinishing and treating skills.
Some general reccomendations would be to go check out some interior design magazines: House beautiful, Martha Stewart Living, Home and Garden, etc. See what styles you would enjoy having in your room and go on a hunt for objects.
I've often seen the Martha stewart line in places like Wal-mart, and for what you're describing a beautiful creme or white mat lise (forgive the spelling, it's pronounced "matt liz-ay" i know that much) bedspread would work. It's a very thin quilt like spread with light embroidery. It would help to lighten the room.
Or you could go for a slightly morrocan feel by using some more exotic patterns in rugs and spreads that include that blue of the wall, but use these with restraint to avoid sensory overload (not good in a bedroom where you want to relax). For objects like that try Pier One, Z-Gallery and Bombay.
Happy shopping :) .
i'm gonna get my hair colored again pretty soon. my hair color is brown and i have blonde highlights but they're already grown out. should i get highlights again or dye it another color do something differnt? i'm tan & i have brown eyes if that matters. i rate thanks a bunch
Your skin tone and eyes matter quite a bit so thanks for including them :). An important thing to keep in mind with hair is maintenance. If you go blonde again, you'll have to make regular visits to the salon to avoid unsightly roots. Also the kind of highlights you get are a factor. Obvious streaks are not in vogue much anymore, when it comes to color a relaxed natural looking color is what's popular. So if you're tan and dark eyed the blonde you go for should be a warmer tone, more of a honey color and opposed to a pale or cool blonde that can look unnatural. Also it helps to have varying shades of blonde highlights weaved into the hair not just one color.
Another option is to embrace your lovely brunette roots and go all dark, but perhaps add an overall sheen by using a slightly chestnut brown or a lighter brown than your natural color. Either way it helps to find a reputable salon in your area and look for a colorist who
1. Has hair you like
2. Has a similar coloring to you (eyes, skin, etc)
They'll know what's best for you most likely. Hope that helps :) .
