I'm a junior in high school and am thinking about college. I really need volunteer work but I want the work to reflect my interests, extracurricular activities, and classes. I am interested in writing(essay, poetry, maybe journalism), art(all art but especially photography), and music. Are there any charities/organizations/foundations that I can volunteer for that support writing, art and/or music?

Also, I want to enter art and writing competitions/ contests hor high school students. What are good ones? Especially prestigious and national ones. (link)
I am looking to set up something for some sort of exchange of Ideas or whatever where partisipants can learn from each other etc. Internet based from home. All you need is a Computer and an Online Conection plus a wilingness to participate. If interested try to contact me.

Is it possible to get a masters and bachelors degree at the same time? As in, if I go to school to get my masters in one field, can I simultaneously study to get a bachelors in a different field? (link)
I think it maybe possible to enter a course where after gaining Bachelors degree you are automatically entered into a Masters degree. Where it is the intension to do so from the start. This I have heard of. I hope this answer of some help.

I'm a totally awesome computer fix-it type who has been awesome at my work for about 11 years.

The problem is that the field is flooded and while it's certainly got jobs, there's an industry-wide push to make it abhorrent. For example, I worked for a place who thought I didn't process jobs quickly enough because I preferred to be more thorough with customer backups. IT departments and turning to outsourced workers in order to shrink their budgets. In short, with all these shrinking prospects, it's been terribly demoralizing for me.

On the other hand, I've been improvising characters in Internet games and radio shows, as well as writing a lot of stuff. I volunteer as a puppeteer, and when I slip into a character (it's hard to believe, but) I think like that character. I also did some pirate radio a while back, and it was a lot of fun!

So here I am, at 29, contemplating whether to take a drama course or to make it a 4 year program in broadcasting and theatre. I know enough to temper my expectations; I don't expect that I'll be the hero in some Saturday morning cartoon, but even if I wind up writing in a cubical, I BELIEVE IN MAHSELF!

The question I have to the rest of y'all is: Does it make sense to leap into college or university in order to change the track I'm on? What options exist for someone winding down a soul-crushing IT career in exchange for a (greener) dramatic arts career?

If you can work via the internet then you should do so. Keep your P.C. server at home and protect sensitive data. Get something like that setup and do it as a Hoby or Charity. i.e. as a not for profit setup. If you can setup such a server then we can talk. and maybe we can contact some charity to provide assistance and/or to look for Government support.

i have just passed my highschool exams.i have been good in science but my maths is bit weak.my marks are-phys-86,chem-85,and maths-76. Plz help as i if i join commerce there will be all new subjects. (link)
Doing something that you are happy doing is best. Sometimes factors beyond our control can limit the choices. Better to chose correctly at the beginning. Don't aim too high. Sometimes what we are made to believe is a good thing is really an extremely bad thing. Doing something that you are happy doing is best.
It is not enough to study. There are factors like a Usefull Book compared to one Which may make your understanding worse after reading it. Lectures and Lecturers can be like that too. You can't effect your lecturers and it is with the bad Lecturers that you can shine by reading usefull books. In the Exams of Good lecturers the marks are downgraded to make an even playing field as compared to the bad lecturers where marks are upgraded. So find Good books. Look up previous Exam papers to see if you can gain an advantage from those as well. Don't Give up. Find the best recommended Books on your subjects, even if they are not the official books you are told you should read but try to ensure they are highly regarded at the level of knowledge you need and cover the material.
There are routes to being self employed which can be more rewarding if one choses what is of intrest to him/her self. You would be at an advantage if you study a subject which means you can run own business or gain that knowledge even if not studying it at the time at Univercity.

Hi, I recently added two majors one being a BA and the other one being a BS.

I know what the difference is between the both, but what are you considered? You're not considered a double major, because one is a BA and the other is a BS.

It's something like duo studies ... I don't know. If you guys can tell me, it would really help me out.

Thanks. (link)
In they U.K. a dual Degeer is called a Joint Honours Degree. Which sidesteps the B.A., B.Sc. Issues. If you are in America I don't know the terms there.

I'm a computer science major and digital arts minor, looking to go into game design.

My mom keeps telling me that it's hard to get a job in computers since everyone's going for it. But programming comes so easy to me and I loved every part of designing basic games in AP Computer Science in High School. :\

Is she right? Am I making a mistake? (link)
Switch to pure digital design, For internet use. And posibliy a supporting topic is my advice. Forget Programming altogether and Game related art. For you this maybe a valid option: Go into work from Home on Internet related Jobs. Make sure you have a server, the P.C. where your website is located at the premises onsite at home and keep data Backups. Keep all critical data such as credit card numbers securely encripted. Get professional help to set it up and forget about University. Doing something that you are happy doing is best. Sometimes factors beyond our control can limit the choices. Better to chose correctly at the beginning. Don't aim too high. Sometimes what we are made to believe is a good thing is really an extremely bad thing. Doing something that you are happy doing is best. There is in the media many organised lies to make bad career choices seem good simply to only gain from a very few number who qualify and stil in my opion they failed choosing a bad option.

I'm nearing the end of my first year of a Politics degree at a UK university. I've been pretty miserable the whole time I've been here for various reasons - I'm not enjoying the course, my flatmates are awful, I'm very lonely and I miss home badly.

Now I'm seriously considering dropping out, going home and getting a job. I've weighed up the pros/cons of both staying at university and leaving but either way it seems I get a bad deal. I can either spend another two years completing my degree and being miserable or I can go home and accept I will struggle to find a 'good' job.

The truth is, if someone said to me I could go home tomorrow and have a decent job ready and waiting for me then I'd go in a heartbeat. Deep down I know I would be happier at home but I'm scared of ruining my future prospects.

What should I do? (link)

What could be the Average cost for studying M.S degree in computer science in USA for a foreign Candidate (link)
Bad career choice stay away from it, you can never be your own boss in any major or posibly even trivial endevor. So my advice is Do something more rewarding and in Computer related issues almost exclusively only the fattest cats play, and you need to almost as fat as Microsoft to play amongst these fat cats. For those who don't what I mean by fat cats in the context is having nearly the same finantial clout as Microsoft. And if you work another then you are treated no better than a slave, goes with the territory it seems, In other words the Job is Like that. Never try to get into a Job for any apparently impressive monetary gain. Get into what you enjoy, more chance of keeping your Job then and doing well at it.

Hello, I'm from England and just finished with my college life (6th form). I am waiting for my results to come back in august and then I can hopefully be setting off for university! the thing is I am so scared, it's such a big change for me, I've always had my family with me and we've always had money but my dad has recently abandoned us for another woman and taken almost all the money.

So most of my worries are money wise, since my mother has been a house-wife and is now struggling with money while the divorce is going through and I'll be quite far away by my standards (down in Luton). I'm more than willing to get a job once I get there but my cousin who is all ready at uni said there's no time between having fun and school

Which leads me to the next concern, Socialising. I would rather work and study than be getting drunk but I'm a shy person and don't make good friends easily so I'm worried people will see me and think I'm just strange and ignore me :/.

The final concern I have is about the workload, I don't know what to expect at all and if anyone (particularly those who have done Psychology) could tell me how difficult the shift is from A level to university and how much I am expected to be doing in a given week would be much appreciated.

I guess what I'm asking for is a sort of guide of tips or own knowledge that will help me relax, I'm the only member of my immediate family to get into university so they really aren't much help and besides that, were all falling apart at the seams lol. thank you :) (link)

I am a dream chaser, nothing holds me back and i live out my dreams. I want to go to an art institute for college, but my second love would be premed.
what are the best art institutes in the usa?
As i look at the list of majors for kansas city art institute, there isnt a single one i Dont want..id be truely happy with any of them from studio art like graphic design to ceramics or painting, theater, music, writing.
Can u major in it all for the same price?
Which major has the most jobs or gets you the most money?
What art jobs are there?
In highschool half my classes are honors art being one of them. im pretty smart and love to know how stuff works, and i love people. emergency or specialist doctor, special education, art therapy, business marketing all intrest me.
is there any jobs that deal with art but mainly one of thoes others? (link)
If you want to do painting then why not find the nearest library and borrow a book or books recommended at Amazon. (A very cost effective path in terms of training costs). There is Art in the Computer Design Industry

I am not getting the grades I want nor need. I am currently doing my b.tech from india. However, I can't seem to get A's on any of my quizzes or tests.
I study all the time. In about 1 - 2 hour increments a couple times a day. I am taking org chem 1, physiology, pre-cal, and communications. I am not worried so much about communications and for pre cal i just have to practice. As for organic i do the practice problems in the book over and over again. Then sometimes when the quizzes come i make stupid mistakes. I think i have test anxiety.
And for physiology i record the lectures and listen while in class, then go back over the recording and type out the notes later in the day. I never go out on weekends. I work about 10 hours on weekends, then the rest of the weekend i study. Then I workout and lift weights about 5-6 days a week as well. But thats all i do. I never hangout with friends or anything, shouldn't I be getting A's?!!

We recently moved the modem and wireless router to the middle of the house so everybody can get a connection. Problem is, it's right next to the wii. Now, whenever we turn the wii on everyone else in the house immediately loses internet. Why is this? And how could we fix this? We also never use the internet on the wii anyway. Please, tell me why it's happening and how this could be resolved. Since it seems like we wasted money on the wii because we cannot play it. (link)
My Guess is there is too much of a wireless signal from the wii interfering with the router due to close proximity of router. The second posibility is electro-magnetic interference from wii due to close proximity. Try moving the router away from wii.

I would like to contact any computer programmer out there to help me in my project. I would not ask you to make a website for me, but rather, I would just ask you some tips or perhaps ideas in making it. I badly need help. :(( (link)
Forget Programming: Takes years to even get into.
This Web creaqting tool is Excellent (at least as on Windows XP): Website X5 Evolution 8. You will need to have PHP and SQL_Database_Server on the hosting site. They do provide a free site.
Look Here for £10 compact version:
http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=PCSH&searchstring=website&page=search&pa=search&go.x=0&go.y=0
Clearly you want to create a Good looking website and then ask for one to be done for you to look similar and some similar functionality. Seek advice on Further improvements you should have.

For a very long time I have wanted nothing else but to go to college, then uni and become a midwife. All of a sudden, with like 3 weeks before i'm meant to start college I really don't want to go. I don't see the point in getting debts at uni so I probably won't do that and at college I have taken 4 subjects, 3 of which I don't want to do or care about. I've been thinking about acting professionally, but I'm not sure what sort of professional experience you need for that (all I have is an A grade drama gcse?). I'm getting quite upset about it, and I'm thinking I would rather get a full time job instead like one of my friends has done.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can either get straight into acting or find an education ish route that works for me?

16/f, just left school. Thanks :) (link)

i want to make a website so bad but i dont have enough money too do you know how to make a "REAL" one for free?!?!?! (link)
Buy a website creation package. Some allow multiple levels of ability to use them and these are probably best. Set up the Server, the PC with the site on it at your premises and keep the site as static, unchanging, as possible.
I have used "Website X5 v8 Evolution" to great effect. Maybe it has been updated for later versions of windows?
I still use Windows XP Professional with it.

I know basic stuff, but I really want to learn how to code well. Can anyone give me some advice or sites? (link)
In the Computer Industry Information overload easily occurs. Learning is slow. Mastery is extremely slow. By the time of mastering an advanced topic that Technology may be dead already. Thank the likes of Microsoft for this aspect. So Learn the Basics and master the most essential parts. Best to have an interactive training session with examples from an Expert.
In some things I am an Expert but my finances are tight and my health is poor and My concentration and ability to do things can be erratic.
I would be willing to show some of what I know but I would need the co-operation of others who know different aspects of the technology and I would only be able to do so interactively from home.
Maybe as a part of a charity to be set up and on a purely unpaid no-commitment voluntary basis, at least initially.

okay my sister forgot her password on windows xp. so there's only one person on there. like, one username.

how do i get the password? is there like a DOB code or something. and if there is, i need to know how to get into DOB or whatever.

come on all you secret computer nerds.... i know you know it.... HALLLLP!

okay thank ya :) (link)
I have seen this advertized somewhere: "XP Password Retriever", but don't blame me if it isn't ligit as I don't know anything about it. And also I can't say if it does what it claims.

there is a website i want taken off the internet its topix it has messed up peoples lives by allowing trash talk spam and trolling and is there anything i can download to take it off the internet (link)
Use an FTP windows program such as: "Cute FTP Professional". and download and then delete the website. You will need FTP access and password.

HI all I am a student of University. I have to do my projects till the 20th of this month but I do not have not enough time to write the project. I have some last year’s project information in printed form which I can use. Can anyone tell me how can I modify printed information quickly so that I can make my project report on time? Thanks in advance. (link)
You can scan using software which converts text in images to letters.
In my opinion they seem to limit the cheaper versions of such software so you get poorer crossover.
One such product is called omnipage.
Clearly you will need to check that the image to text conversion was accurate before changing the text.
It is called Optical Character Recognition.

I just started a website called "Teensy Triumphs".

Users basically just drop by to share an accomplishment and to support that of others.

here is the link: http://teensytriumphs.yolasite.com/#/

do you think it's a good concept?
how can I improve?
Also, feel free to post on the forum :) (link)
1: Menus non standard.
2: Left hand side menus are usually better.
3: Use more tables.
