when you go to an open casting call, do you need to have a resume or headshot? (link)
|
you could. you should bring a head shot and resume to every audition you have. you should always be prepared. good luck.

I am an alto singer and would like to try out for my school's production of Into the Woods. We are not allowed to try out using a song from the musical and starting this year we must sing an entire song, not just the usual 15 bars. The past two years Ive sang the bars from Home- beauty and the beast, and popular- wicked. The problem is I cannot sing all of home and Im not confident in my voice for all of popular. I tried Fine Fine line- avenue q, but it is also too high by the third line. I could sing Not that girl- wicked. but its a tad boring. Help! (link)

into the woods is a great show! some good alto auditions songs are all that jazz-chicago, as long as he needs me-oliver, i get a kick out of you-anything goes, america-west side story, ect. try stageagent.com. it's veeeery helpful. good luck!

what should i sing when i audition for the play "little shop of horrors" any tips. songs? (link)
|
little shop of horrors is great show. there's very belty music in this show, so i'd recomend singing something that shows off your chest voice. if you're a female, if you want to sing something from the show, i'd say suddenly seymour. however, there are plenty of songs from other shows to sing. part of your world fro mthe little mermaid would be a good audition song. if you're a male, i'd recommed singing something from the show as well. skid row would be a good selection. also, stageagent.com is an excellent source for all your theater needs. it can help you finf audition songs, monologues, shows, ect. good luck!

I did this summer camp last year for kids from 5th to 12th grade last year and it was really fun. We did Anything Goes! Anyway, this year, the director wants to do High School Musical *gag*. The thing is not many guys are doing the camp, and most of them are like in 7th grade and can't sing that well. Are there any good musicals that we could do for middle school kids? Please don't say Seusical the Musical or Oklahoma, because the director JUST did those 2 shows at his school. (link)
|
ugh high school musical! i was in it last year. worst experience of my time. i was in anything goes recently too. i absolutely loved it. anyway, luckily there are tons of great shows to do! footloose, cinderella, once upon a mattress, carousel, meet me in st. louis, the music man, into the woods, bye bye birdie, guys and dolls, ect.
byt the way, stageagent.com is a VERY helpful site. it can help with anything from searching for a show to for a role for your vocal range. good luck!

i'm auditioning for a play on friday, but for the singing part, i have no idea what song to do!
i can pretty much do any tone and have a wide range, so thats fine, but i'm really stuck on what would should that i have that. Any ideas for songs that show my range and are good for auditions? thank you :] (link)
|
if there's music, it's a musical, not a play. just thought i'd put that out there.
anyway, a wide range is good. so i'm assuming you're a mezzo(middle range). i could be wrong, though. but a mezzo song from a musical would probably be the best choice.
some suggestions...
soprano: goodbye, little dream, goodbye-anything goes, climb every mountain-sound of music, i could've daanced all night-my fair lady
mezzo: i don't know how to love him-jesus christ superstar, on my own-les miserables, come to your senses-tick tick boom
alto: i get a kick out of you-anything goes, all that jazz-chicago, there are worse things i could do-grease
if this show is a newer more pop-ish show, i suggest singing something of that genre. however, if its an older show, i'd say sing something more jazzy and upbeat, or slow and pretty, like the stereotypical school musical. good luck!

well we are starting our play in theatre arts and i got my lines i have alot of lines so whats the easiest way to practice my lines and get them down :) (link)

practice makes perfect. read over your script and practice your lines at least once a day. the more you practice the faster you'll learn. good luck.

What's the word that means getting very into character, or becoming the character. This is mainly for actors. (link)
|
characterizaton.
characterize by thinking:
what is your character's strongest desire?
what is your character's happiest/worst moment of his/her life?
what is the reason for your character's existance in the show you're in?
what is your character's life story?
what was the best gift your character ever received?
ect.
good luck.

i live in new york and i want to become an actress eevryone keeps saying to do community theater and such. whats a community theater and can someone help me find one i can enroll myself into. also, what other things can i join if i want to become an actress ok thanks alot. it has always been my dream. (link)
|
it depends on what kind of actress you want to be. if you want to be on broadway, then doing community theater can get you somewhere. also, going to open auditions for broadway and other theaters are a great experience. if you want to be a film actress, then going to theater auditions can help too. try researching "acting auditions in new york". good luck!

SO i'm in a play in this little theater. It's snow white and i'm the evil witch. Also i'm 13. My mom said something to me yesterday that got me thinking. She said "you never know if talent scouts are watching you , i hear the come to little places like that, so try your best". So I started wondering, what is that "thing" or "things" that make a talent scout go up to someone and tell them they have the potential to be professional? It can't just be that you are a good actress/ actor cause alot of kids I seen are and no talent scout contacted them. So what is it? If you aren't involved in acting can you please not answer this? Thanks. (link)

talent agents look for many different things. they want a responsible, well put together, prepared and, of course, talented actor/actress. so memorized your lines like the back of your hand and present yourself very well. if you get nervous, just breathe and remind yourself that you can do this! good luck!
|
Yesterday I tried out for a musical and for the first time in an audition I had to sing. Well I was nervous because before people have told me I sing bad. But this time I sang "fabulous" from hsm 2 (I know it's a bad song, but it's the only one I could remember!) and the my friends told me I was amazing and one told me I sounded like ashley tisdale. I think maybe this was because I was onstage and I could be as loud as I want, because usually when I sang I was afraid others would hear me so I sang soft and high. Well this weird thing happens to me when I get onstage, like I don't care what anyone thinks. But one thing I really really want to do is to vibratto in my voice. You know how your voice vibrates at the end of a note. I'm so jelous of girls who it comes naturally for! This little girl can do it so good. Is theere any way I can learn? (link)
|
vibrato isn't something you can learn. it's kind of something that just comes to you naturally. with proper training, vibrato could come to you. good luck with that!
p.s. ashley tisdale is not a good role model singing or acting wise, keep that in mind(not saying you're bad, just don't model yourself after her.)

Hey everyone, just wondering if you have any good sites or books for monologs. (link)

my acting teacher is sooooo mean to me and she makes me cry after every class and i hate her soooooooooo much. i can't stop taking her classes because i go to a performing arts school and i HAVE to do the classes they make u do.
wat should i do?
i have it 4x a week. omg i hate this (link)
|
talk to her after class. tell her you don't appreciate the way she's treating you. if she still doesn't treat you nicely, ask a parent or guardian to call and complain about her. good luck!

15/f sophmore
I'm thinking of joining one of the school plays or musicals. I have hardly any acting experience but I can sing very well and i think if I really tried I would have the potential to be a good actor. My dream has always been to play a lead role in a show. Do you honestly think this is possible for an inexperienced sophmore to work their way up and eventually get a lead? Do you think it's worth the hard work and dedication? (link)
|
it is highly unlikely for an unexperienced actor/actress of any age to get a lead role. however, if you start small, with a cameo or chorus role, you could someday climb your way to the top! i've been involves in musical theater for almost ten years and i went from chorus girl to having three leads in a row(i, too, am a sophmore). never give up on your dreams. i hope it works out, good luck!

I was just cast in the school musical, Beauty and the Beast, as one of Gaston's 4 "silly girls"-- what is this role? Is it a lead? Will I have a lot of stage time? Or solos? (link)
|
the four silly girls, i'd say, are cameos. they are a very fun part. they are kind of like gaston's fan club. they follow him around, giggle, swoon over him, ect. and they have a few lines and solos. they are on stage for a lot of the first act, i believe. stageagent.com would be a very helpful website for anymore questions in this area.
