I have the worst time trying to fall asleep.
It's been worse over the summer but even before I just couldn't fall asleep and it'd take me an hour or 2.
I think it started my sophomore year where I couldn't fall asleep. I'm going into my senior year and it's still bothering me. I mean it wasn't every night because I did have some good nights where it'd only take me 20 or 30 min to fall asleep.
I was thinking maybe I was making it into a habit. So I just tried going to bed at 10 or 11 but wouldn't fall asleep till like 12 or 1. I had to wake up at 5:30 for school but my body was used to the hours I slept so it didn't affect my grades or anything.
So I've tried different sleeping times and tried to get used to them but that didn't work. I tried reading before going to bed because people usually fall asleep during that time but that didn't work. Drinking milk didn't help lol. I would just lay there, for hours, just thinking about anything and everything. It's like my mind was still wide awake no matter how tired my eyes were.
I tried writing in my journal to let everything out, but even when I had nothing particular on my mind I couldn't sleep.
Now it's horrible, because last night is where it was really bad. I tried going to bed at midnight but I was laying there forever so I started reading. I read till about 1 or 2. Then laid back down and did not fall asleep till about 6. That was so bad.
When I fall asleep, I'm out. So I didn't wake up till like 1pm. I hate sleeping that late. It's so bad.
When I'm really drained, this isn't often, but I can naps very easily. But when I wake up, I feel sick like I'm going to throw up but I know I'm not going to. It's just my stomach feeling like it's twisting. Soo what's up with that?
Sorry that this was long but it's really starting to bother me and I can't have it be this bad during my senior year. (link)

I know how miserable it is not being able to fall asleep and/or stay asleep. I also suffer from sleeping problems, except I've had them for basically my whole life. And I also know that reading doesn't help me at all...the only thing it helps is passing the time by quicker.
First, maybe it's something you want to get diagnosed by a sleep doctor because you may actually have a problem.
--When you're going to bed, make sure that your room is dark. No nightlights, TV...nothing. That way your body recognizes that it's dark and time to fall asleep.
--Try not to drink or eat anything with caffiene for at least a few hours before you fall asleep. Eating/snacking before you sleep may also keep you up because of the energy in the food. If you're hungry or thirsty, my best bet to you is water and something light and healthy like a piece of fruit or vegetable. Nothing with a ton of calories.
--Taking a sleep aid (you can find them at any drugstore...CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc.) could definitely help you as it helps me. I use non-addictive, natural pills and they help me stay on a healthy sleep schedule.
--Sleep in a room with a comfortable temperature...if it's too hot, you'll find it more difficult to try to fall to sleep.
--I know this may sound odd, but sometimes when I can't sleep, I switch sides of my bed. So when I normally sleep on the side with my headboard, I'll sleep on the side I usually put my feet. I've recommended this to other people and it works. Although I wouldn't recommend it every night, just seldom occasions, because then the trick might wear off and stop working for you!
--I was recently given "Sleep Body Lotion" from Bath & Body Works which (with the help of the Lavender Vanilla scent) relaxes the mind. I've only used it twice and I can't quite tell yet if it works for me, but I have a sample bottle so it's not a waste of money if it doesn't work out.
That's about all the advice I can give you...that I can think of anyway. I hope this helps, even just a little.
Good luck!

ok, so i shave down in that area. and everytime i shave i CANT get it perfectly smooth. i can still see the black little hairs where my hair folicule is. its sooooo annoying. is there anything that will work? how are you supposed to shave down there? i read that you are supposed to go side to side. but that doesnt get the hair down there. i need answers please! The only real way to get rid of the whole hair is to either pluck it which seems to be way too time consuming or wax it. Waxing might hurt but it'll last longer than the shaving method and it'll be perfectly and desirably smooth. And you don't necessarily have to go to a salon to get it done. They sell wax in drugstores especially for legs and the bikini line so you can do it yourself.
My suggestion to you is do it shortly after you get out of the shower (when you're dry, of course), that way your pores have all opened up from the warm water and steam so waxing will be less painful.
I have tried using Nair, but it doesn't get rid of the whole hair. It's just a substitute for shaving basically.
Good luck and I hope I helped!

Hi! Im Gracie, my names Melinda but people call me gracie. Im a girl(obviously. Im 13 and I still dnt have my period. My sister Melissa got hers a few months ago and we're identical mirror image twins, were supposed to be,physically, just alike! Most of my friends have theirs too! My dad says that all girls get it sooner or later, but hes a boy so im sure he doesnt kno much about stuff like this. My dads girlfriend katie says that its jus bcause im small for my age but Lissa's small too! I kinda dnt want my period bcuz when Lissa got hers she cried and said it hurt real bad. Im scared. But its still not fair that Lissa got hers before me. I dnt really want my period but I wish Lissa didnt get hers either she gets everything first. Why dont i have it yet? is something wrong with me? This is completely normal! Your period could come tomorrow or when you're 14!I know it seems like you and your sister should've both gotten it at about the same time, but just because you're twins, doesn't mean everything you girls do/get will be at the same time!
Once you get your period, you'll feel silly for even writing this...feel lucky you haven't been cursed with PMS yet! Don't feel envious or jealous that she got her period first, you're definitely luckier in this instance!
I remember I wanted to get my period too, and I remember thinking "I have the wider hips and growing breasts, so why haven't I gotten my period?!"...now I wish I'd never ever gotten it!
Your sister's right, it does hurt! And it's an annoyance and the idea of it is just gross!
Best of luck when you get it, sweetie!

Many people don't even think about their pillowcases. Try and change your pillowcase weekly because oils can build up on it and cause blemishes.
Also, I make sure I wash my face twice a day. Everyday. I generally use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Facial Cleanser that you can basically get at any drugstore. However, recently I've been using Hibiclens Liquid, which you can also buy at your local CVS. It's generally used for surgical reasons (it's an antimicrobial skin cleanser that helps reduce bacteria). It basically rids of any kind of bacteria, including acne-causing bacteria.
Also, make sure you moisturize your face with an oil free cream. Just so your face doesn't dry out and peel. You might also want to invest in a dermatologist, they can prescribe you with a topical cream or oral medication that can help your face.
If you use any kind of make-up, like cover up or concealer, try to buy oil free products. I use Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Makeup cover-up. It's blemish treatment with salicylic acid so it covers any blemishes while getting rid of them!
I really hope I helped!
Good luck!

im fairly thick down there, and Im planning on being intimate with my boyfriend....what should i do so that its more smooth? i cant get a wax but how should i go about shaving so that theres no razor burn, etc.? (link)

I don't know if you know or if this is what you were referring to, you can use an at-home waxing method that can be bought at any drugstore. They range from cremes to pre-waxed strips, which can be $5 to $19, however high you're willing to go.
Like Faith42 said, if you've never shaved before, I also would cut the length of the hair, leaving as little as you feel comfortable left before shaving. For example, if the length of your hair is an 2 inches, cut it until it's .5 inches, that way shaving it easier and doesn't clog the drain (oh no!).
Once you're in the shower, you can use a soap or a shaving cream on the desired shaved area. Both work the same for me, so I go by either one. Then use your razor to go WITH the hair. Not against. I.E., if the general direction of your hair is down, shave down! Not up! I think the most common mistake for girls who shave is they shave in the wrong direction, making little nicks in their skin and they're more likely to have razor burn. Knowing that, that's really the trick to shaving. Follow the same method until all the hair is gone.
I hope I helped!!

so i have some hair just around/bellow my belly button and ive shaved it before but it came in thicker....so now im wondering what I should do so that you can't see it but i dont want to keep shaving for fear that it will just get worse? thanks! (link)

I have a similar problem. Although not all of it is dark, but the 4 or 5 hairs that are, just get plucked. I use your typical pair of Tweezers and the hair will grow back every week and a half-two weeks so it works for me.
If this is too much work for you, I know drugstores have waxing products. Like I know Sally Hansen has a waxing "kit", and I know of someone who was telling me how she uses an at-home waxing kit for her eyebrows, instead of going to the nail place. You should try something like that if you're not too into the plucking idea.
I hope I helped!

I dont have the best back, im 17 and i get lower back pains alot my doctor once told me i have an extra curvature in my lower back. I can only sleep certain ways without it hurting, and lately while im sitting upright on my left mid section of my back will randomly start feeling numb and prickly. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? (link)

I actually have scoliosis which causes me minor back pain. Sometimes I do wake up from it and can't sit, stand or walk for long periods of time. It can get pretty intense. My back doctor told me that doing daily excersize can help. I tried and it helped drastically. Try running or jogging for 10 minutes or so, do some simple sitting and stand excersizes like crunches. Touch your toes without bending (or try), try a sit and reach. Try to crack your back, or have someone massage it. Sometimes, I even have my sister walk on it for a few minutes. Hope I helped!

My mom is wanting me get the flu shot but I have a few questions. Does the flu shot give you the flu? Does the flu shot make you sick after having it?
My best friend had the flu shot last year and was terribly ill for a week or better afterward. She said that if she hadn't had the flu shot then she probably wouldn't have gotten sick because she rarely gets sick (she was just taking the flu shot because she could get it for free and figured, "Why not?").
I don't want to end up sick because I was trying to avoid getting sick. I really hate when I get the flu (or any kind of illness, actually) so I am trying to avoid people that are ill already with it. I'm afraid that if I get the flu shot then I'll end up sick too, just like my best friend was last year.
So, does anyone know if the flu shot makes you sick or if the flu shot actually gives you the flu? If it doesn't make you sick then why did my friend get sick last year right after having the flu shot? (link)
|
The answer to your question is yes. The flu vaccine has dead or weakened pathogens. They inject these dead or weakened pathogens in your body because your immune system will see them as foreign and your system destroys them. This prevents you from getting a serious strain of the flu because now your immune system will remember and recognize the germs and kill them.
Hope I helped !
