Hi there.
I'm 19/F and I'm in college to become a Labor and Delivery Nurse. A classmate of mine got pregnant at 16 and had a daughter named Katelyn. When she was around 7 months old, she would bring her to my house and leave her with me for weeks, and weeks at a time. I woke up with her whenever she cried, I fed her healthy, ect. I fell in love with that little girl. Well, just recently, when she was a year and a half, that girl brought Katelyn over again, and she stayed for two months straight. I tought her her colors, numbers, and body parts.
Ever since then, I have fell in love with kids. I've been lookin online but so far no luck. Anyone know where I could find a job babysitting? I have my own transportation, I have a very reliable, flexiable schedule, ect.

Do you have any aunts and uncles with children? Do you have any neighbors with kids? Network. Talk to people and maybe by talking to people you'll find a fmaily that might need a sitter to watch their kids regularly. Connect with people, I've done the online babysitting experience and its not what I expected. I would suggest going through people and asking around if anyone needs a sitter. Or maybe you could get a part time job at a day care or a camp in the summer. Good luck!

So I'm babysitting for the first time on Saturday, one is eight years old and another is about 3.
Okay, so what do you do-do you just sit there like what someone did to me when I was little? Or do you play, or have fun or what?

I took a babysitting course and I've been babysitting my little cousins for 11 years. The best thing to do is play some games or get a fun movie to watch. Maybe you can make a fun box with dress up things or maybe some games from home. Maybe you have some stuffed animals that you don't want anymore and put them in the box. An easy thing would be a movie before they go to bed. Kids like to play though and they like to be entertained so if I were you I would try to start a game. See how the kids are first and see if they warm up to you. The kids might just want to watch a movie or their favorite TV show. Maybe read them a book before bed. Have fun and good luck! :)

I babysit for this family and the mom and dad go out when they come back they are intoxicated. What do I do? Should I tell my mom? This has happened quite a bit? (link)

Well I could kind of understand if it was a one time thing. You say this is happening a bit often then you should consider stopping your babysitting services if you feel uncomfortable. Now I don't know if you can drive to your babysitting job or not but make sure they don't drive you home. What I learned in my babysitting course is the "milk excuse" if they ask to drive you home. You say that you're Mom is picking you up because you need to get something at the store for example "milk". Than call your Mom or Dad or someone is capable of driving!

Oh no! Thats not good...well I've been babysitting my cousins now for 9 years its CRAZY. They grow up so fast but when they were in the terrible 2 stage I didn't know what to do until I started time outs with them. Anytime they did something bad they would go to the corner to think about it or they would go to bed early for not paying attention to the rules. The worst thing you can do is to spoil a child you never want to feed into their wants.

yes i have. i started babysitting when i was 13. I have babysat my little cousins and let me tell you its a lot of hard work and you have to watch the kids with a close eye cause they can get into trouble. my advice would be to take a babysitting course because it helps if you have a certification that you can show your clients (the parents) that shows your a committed babysitter.

I lose my temper a lot when i am babysitting. I am making good money, but this girl is so annoying. I dont get that mean, but I just want to tell her to SHUT UP. I try to be nice and act interested in what she is saying, but she drives me crazy!

not at all, kids can be kind of annoying and very tiring sometimes. it doens't make you a bad babysitter, just remember to breath and control your temper... after all the kids are little and they don't know any better.

You should definitely look into taking a class at your local hospital so you can show your clients you are an authorized babysitter!! If you want people to hire you post signs all over the neighborhood with permission of course ...ask your family members if they ever need a babysitter than your their girl!! You can charge by the hour or just charge a reasonable amount for your services ...such as i charge 20 or 25 dollars for all the work i did!!

ok , i dont kno what to do anymore . im babyysitting this 4 yr. old little boy . i came at 9:30 this morning and like 10 min. after the mom left for work , he's throwing his toys at me , one hitting my chin , then he took some statue thing the parents hav and starts biting on it . nd i cant control this kid . can u help me pleasE (link)

well the first thing that u could do is tell the kidd u mean business... give him a timeout if he doesn't stop this behavior and be sure 2 tell his parents how is behavior is outrageous!! GOOD LUCK!! Lemme kno how everythin turns out!!
