I have a bit of an acne problem. Its just a little thing, its not excessive like other people. Its just a little here and there, but I have blackheads like CRAZY! I dont know how to get rid of them! I cant afford ProActiv, or any of those other problem-solving products. Does anyone know of any home techniques or for lack of a better word, recipes to help get rid of them? (link)

It's also a good idea to drink water rather than sugary drinks and cut back on oily or greasy food, this can affect your skin.
I also find that antiseptic creams like Sudocrem are good if you apply them and leave them on overnight.

How much do you eat in a day and what? Do you really get lots of fruits and veggies in? Also, what vitamins do you take? (link)
|
I take Cod Liver Oil in the morning because I find that it stops my hip aching (I walk a LOT). Vitamins aren't really essential unless you do not get enough already in your diet.
For breakfast, i eat a high-fibre or multi-grain cereal. Recently it's been Cheerios but i change between Wheatabix and Quaker's Oats (depends on where you're from if you know these brands). I also drink a glass of reduced-sugar cranberry juice, as this has 100% Recommended Daily Allowance of vitamin C.
For a snack, I usually have either fruit (strawberries at the moment) or Ryvita (again, you may not know the brand, basically they're wholegrain crackers).
For lunch I have wholemeal bread sandwiches, with any kind of filling as long as it's not terrible unhealthy like chocolate spread.
For lunch it's whatever my Mum is cooking (I'm 17, a student). This can range from chicken and salad to fish and chips, but there is always a portion of veg with it like peas/carrots/sweetcorn. Then sometimes i'll have yoghurt for dessert.

I'm a teenage girl. My periods have been regular for a number of years, and I get THE WORST PMS EVER! Like I'll have it for 1 and a half-3 weeks of the month, and my symptoms are as follows:
I get really bad, intense cravings for unhealthy food. Even when I'm full, my body won't let me stop eating. I binge uncontrollably. I'm always pissed about some random thing. I'm moody as heck. I sometimes feel bloated(like air in your stomach). I gain 2-10 pounds. I have no energy. I get horrible headaches. I get horrible vaginal cramps. I'm extremely irritable.
what can i do to reduce the severity/length of my pms?
(i already exercise and eat right)
any advice is appreciated. (link)

Go and see your doctor (preferably a female doctor if it makes you more comfortable) and tell them about this. I completely sympathise with you about the cravings for unhealthy food and mood swings so I know partly how you feel, it's sometimes like having an evil alter-ego take over. But there are some things you can do to try and help.
Depending on your age and where you live, one idea may be taking the Pill. Not for contraceptive reasons although obviously it does this too, but some types of Pill will have different affects on your cycle and PMS. If you can find one which eases the symptoms you get, that would be fantastic, although again it depends on your situation (age, restrictions, parents allowing it) as to whether you'd be able to take it.
The bloated feeling you're describing may be water retention, which is something a lot of women get due to periods. There are remedies for this available, if you want to know more then you can find info online.
There may be some herbal remedies which can calm your mood. Again, look online for information, but makes sure you get all the details, as some herbs like St. John's Wort can have a bad effect on your liver. Although it sounds a little far-fetched, but trying things like aromatherapy and meditation can also help. Learning relaxation techniques, like writing down why you're angry and screwing up the paper and throwing it away, can help (Some good scents for mood-swings are geranium and citrus scents can clear your head too).
I hope some of these things help you :)

ok, i want to lose a little weight, but i'm not really on a diet or anything. but anyway, my mom is starting to be annoying, because she thinks i'm anorexic. like, i try really really really really hard not to eat all day, but i end up eating like a salad or something, and that's all i eat. because when my stomach growls, like if i eat, i end up getting hungrier later too. but if i only eat once a day, towards like evening, i can sleep easier, and stuff. i also don't eat meat. i slip up occasionally, like maybe once a week i'll eat a bite of meat..
is this bad? (link)
|
This is very bad, but not for the reasons you're thinking of. Your behavior will lead to severe nutritional problems if you do not get the right amount of vitamins per day, and you will become faint and light-headed if you do not get enough calories per day. It sounds like you are on a diet, and a very dangerous one. Eating meat and salad is by no means a slip-up. You should seek advice from a doctor about what you should be eating daily - if you carry on in this way, it could have serious effects on not only your physical health but your mental health too.
A healthy diet which will cause you to lose a little weight must have 3 meals a day. A good example of a healthy day would be a cereal like bran flakes with some fruit for breakfast (or a fruit juice), salad for lunch, and a balanced dinner like pasta with tomato sauce and vegetables, or chicken with rice/cous cous, or a jacket potato with a filling. You may not be anorexic in your eyes, but to a health professional it would seem as if you are heading in that direction.

If you are concerned about weight and looking skinny then this could be the beginnings of an eating disorder and you should consult a doctor.
Even if you aren't concerned about that at all you should seek professional advice - fluctuations in appetite are perfectly normal but if you don't feel like eating much at all then there may be a medical condition behind it.
If you can't stomach solid food, try drinking more fruit juice (juice, not squash or fruit concentrate) as it will give you vitamins and some energy, as well as smoothies. Try things like yoghurt or milk too. Even if you really don't feel like eating it is essential that you keep up nutrients and vitamins or you could develop a defficiency like anemia which can become quite serious.

ive been using fiberSMART. its fiber capsules that are soppose to make you go to the bathroom and speed up your matebalism.
but i dont htink its working
anyone help? (link)
|
Taking fibre capsules will not effect your metabolism. Your metabolism is the rate at which chemical reactions occur within your body, and so this affects how quickly you use up the nutrients within food. Fibre is not a nutrient which is digested, it merely passes though you, and so these capsules will only speed up the rate you digest food and will not affect how quickly you burn off fat or calories.
If you want to increase the amount of fibre you eat to become more healthy or possibly lose weight, it is much more effective and much more simple to eat high-fibre foods. This way, they fill you up and give you a healthy digestive system. Things like oatmeal/porridge, muesli, wholemeal bread and other wholegrain products are great for this. Hope this helps :)

I am starting the maple syrup diet cleanse tomorrow.
is there anything i should know before starting it?
i want to lose atleast ten pounds. (link)
|
I agree - the maple syrup diet is an incredibly bad idea. Detox diets do not work, and such a severe diet will cause you to obsess over food all the time because you're so hungry - trust me. Not only will this mess up your digestion and probably give you constipation from getting no fibre, but it will leave you with low energy levels and possibly anemia because of the lack of iron in your diet. This can give you bad mood swings and cause you to feel faint, or even pass out. Again, i should also know because I have been anemic from being on a ridiculous diet, now I have lost weight with a controlled balanced diet and it works just as well.
Check how healthy your are using this BMI (Body Mass Index) calculator before going on ANY kind of diet - http://www.nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyweightcalculator.aspx

whats the best and fastest way to loose weight (link)
|
The best way to lose weight is never the fastest - quick-effect diets that promise results in two weeks work in the short term, but don't last in the long term. If you want to lose weight for an event or holiday coming up soon, there are things like the Special K Diet and SlimFast which can help, but be aware that they are not sustainable.
If you want to lose weight and stay a healthy weight, it's simply about getting a balance of food groups. Swap fatty foods for low-fat substitues (full fat milk for semi-skimmed/skimmed, desserts for low-fat yoghurt etc.) and find healthier ways of cooking food - grilling for example.
Eating high-fibre alternatives will also keep you fuller for longer (sugary cereal for oatmeal/porridge or muesli, you can add fruit or honey to liven it up, white bread for wholemeal etc.) This will help to stop junk food cravings.
It is important to check that it is healthy for you to lose weight, so check your BMI (Body Mass Index) to see how healthy you are on this calculator - http://www.nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyweightcalculator.aspx
With a healthy attitude towards food and will power, you can lose weight and keep it off. Fad diets DO NOT WORK, and can leave you in a vicious circle of under-eating then bingeing because it's too much too fast.
Hope I helped :)

im 5'1 , how do i get my body to look like megan foxs? her body is perfect!!!! shes skinny and not to muscular (link)
|
Firstly, I wouldn't recommend aspiring to Megan Fox - she is an actress who probably has her own nutritionist and personal trainer who motivates her to do exercise. She is well known for her body and so it's not realistic to want to look like her - everybody is built differently and so what works for her may not work for you. I may not be right but from what I remember, she's also quite tall, which has an effect on her body too.
Squats are an excellent exercise, also ab crunches (lie on your back, knees up close to you, and then do sit-up type movements) and that sort of thing will get you toned in problem areas. You can find many exercises on the Internet by just searching for them, and video tutorials.
Getting a balanced and healthy diet is essential. Gradually swapping fatty foods for lower fat alternatives is a good start - definitely do not cut food out, because without calories to burn you will have less energy for exercise.

i'm a pretty healthy weight for my age, 126 for a 16/f; though, i really hate certain parts of my body. around my hips and the tops of my legs i have some buldge i'm really uncomfortable about.
although i was raised doing low key activities, as i got into highschool i've been trying to get involved in physical activities like sports and whatnot. i don't belong to a sport regulary so it's hard for me to work out.
i wouldn't be resorting to this if i could go to a gym and whatnot.
lately i've been subjecting myself to anorexic habits out of hate for my body and jealousy to my more attractive peers.
my problem is that thanks to medication for ADHD, i can handle not eating during the day, but when it wears off in the evening and during weekends when i don't take it i can tend to binge. which is really like a sucky thing to happen if i'm going through the stress of dieting. i wanna know how to control this and balance it out.
also, i do run a ocuple times a week and do workouts on my stairs.
skdfj;askljf anyway, any tips to healthy dieting that will give me quick results? hopefully i can get some good answers based off fasting and not regular eating.
thaaanks. (link)

I'm 17 and I am around the same weight, and also have weight around my hips and the top of my legs. There are some exercises which can specifically target those areas if you want to tone them up, just have a little look around on the internet.
Yes, it is good that you've realised your behavior has changed, and it's also good that you realise this is not a healthy attitude towards food and exercise. It seems to be that when you're around your peers, you're more aware of your body than at the weekends, and this added to your medication routine could have an impact. It's important to have a good role model to aspire to who has a balanced and healthy life, rather than being jealous of people at school, as this will only knock your confidence. Fibre packed foods like the ones mentioned below will definitely help you feel fuller for longer, things such as oatmeal, porridge/bran, wholemeal bread, nuts and seeds etc. are good for this and make an excellent start to the day.

My new years resolution is to quite eating junk food, how can I achieve this? (link)
|
I agree, I know many friends who've tried to cut out everything bad all at once and then they end up feeling awful when they've eaten something bad, it does need to be a gradual thing.
Healthy alternatives I eat instead of unhealthy foods are:
Low sugar squash + soda - when you're craving something fizzy, it doesn't have to be sugary. My favourite is lime cordial and soda.
Fibre-packed anything is good for filling you up - wholemeal instead of white, plain cereals which I can sweeten myself with fruit or a bit of sugar, Ryvita instead of crisps (depends on where you live if you can buy those).
Unfortunately i've found no alternative for chocolate, but low fat yoghurt tends to be much more filling if i'm looking for something sweet. Basically, it's just about finding things that you like, cutting out junk food doesn't have to be a sacrifice as long as you have a positive attitude :)
