Q: does anyone know how much money you get paid an hour for working at a job like af & hollister?

A girl I know gets $6.50 an hour. Other than that, I have no clue.

It was after 9 so it was free, but I was wondering...it was with Cingular just FYI...but since it was free, would it still show up on my detailed billing? My parents are the kind that don't like me talking to people that I meet off of the internet, so if they found out that they had my PHONE NUMBER they would freak...I mean I wasn't the one talking, but yeah...anyways...does it show up on the bill even though it was free?

Yup. It'll show up. Not that I condone lying in any way, shape or form, but a way out of this with your parents would be to tell them that you allowed your friend to use your phone to call a friend of hers. Only offer this information if they ask about it, though.

Go to a proffessional stylist and see what he/she can do about your hair. Get a cute new cut, and ask for advice on how to care for your newly found short hair. Take your sister with to get her hair color fixed.

Q: my parents are so over protective. im 13 and they wont even let me jog aroung my block or go to the mall with a friend it gets on my nerves cause my dad always bring up these stories of about these 25 yr olds who get kidnapped raped and killed i told him to sign me up 4 self defense if hes so paranoied but he just gets mad he wont listen. Please help @ this rate i will be a prisoner without freedom and locked away in a tower at age 45.

Talk to your dad about why he is so overprotective. Are you the oldest daughter? Is your neighborhood really dangerous? Has he had any bad experiences? What if you go jogging around the block with a few friends? Try to talk to him and get the whole story. Then you could bring up the self defense class. If he just gets angry again, ask him why he is angry.
The main thing is to just show him that you are mature and know how to handle situations.
What does your mom say about all this?

You could pictures of the two of you on the covers. Or just make some funky designs and write "Hap[py 8th Birthday" and give the CDs titles.

Q: I am a senior this year. I will be going to college next year. Here is my problem. I don't know whether to choose a Nursing major or an Art major. My parents really want me to go for nursing, but art is what I love. Plus, most artists don't make a whole lot of money. What should I do?

Art is a very difficult major. If you want to be an art major, you should work on your portfolio.

I don't think that you should base your major on how much money you will make in the future. Perhaps you could double major in art and something like advertising, so you would have the art major and a means of support.

If you don't want to do nursing, then don't. There comes a point in everybody's life where you have to gently break it to your parents that you are living your own life. However, if you wanted to pursue both nursing and art, I would recommend that you look into Steinhardt School of Education and Communication, which is one of the colleges in NYU.

Q: Well, to start off I'm 15/f. I play the guitar and I have for about 2 years now and I absolutly love it. I just started highschool this past September. In November I signed up to be on my schools fencing team. I don't seem to have time to do any of the things that I used to do. I'm so caught up with all of my school work, and fencing practice, I hardly have any time at all to even pick up my guitar and strum a few chords. I feel guilty now because I show up at my guitar lessons and my teacher is expecting me to have the song we had worked on for the past 3 weeks perfectly memorized, because that's how it was for me when I first started playing, and I can hardly play the first 2 notes! I miss playing and I love fencing just the same and I don't want to give up fencing. Is there any way that I can find the time to play my guitar, do all of my school work, and fence at the same time? It's so frustrating! Please help!

Either give something up, or budget your time better. If all of these things are really importatn to you, then don't hang out with your friends as often. You'll see them in the summer.

Q: I have a problem with conflicts, well you could say that. And whenever I feel really bad I cut..... It's hard for me to stop, because it brings out anger, I don't really know what to do, and I need help.

Tell a friend who you trust and who you feel can help you through this. Whenever you feel the urge to cut yourself, call this friend. Stopping a long and hard process. Also, try doing other things when you get angry instead of cutting to take out your anger- go rollerblading, punch your wall, snap a CD in half. Something else which might work is if you take and ice cube and hold it on your skin until you feel the burn then it might take away the urge.
