hey, one of my friends is graduating from highschool soon and i want to make her a good cd with songs like vitamin c - graduation song and stuff like that. so if you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated
thanks! (link)
I want to go to McDonalds, and order a cup of water every day, and fill it up over and over again - until they go broke.

If you want more of my ideas, just ask.

what are some good punk bands, Im lookin for some hardcore shit... all I have right now is some distillers and a few songs from the gits
(link)
What do you define as "hardcore shit"? I'll give you the stuff I listen to, which may not be 'hardcore' by your standards, but it's some of the only quality punk music i've found.

-Naked Raygun
-Black Flag
-Rancid
-Big Black (I think they are a bit more alternative than punk, but most people I know tend to disagree with me)

Those three are the main ones, nearly anything else I listen to you can probably find by looking up bands that those three have influenced.

how do I tune my electric guitar.... I don't know sheet about it. Id get some lessons but I dont have the money right now. (link)
You need one of the following...
-Pitch Pipe
-Piano (Or pretty much any other instrument that is tuned correctly)
-Guitar Tuner
-Anything that can produce a correct "E, A, D, G, and B" sound.

Using anything but the guitar tuner - play a note on that that corresponds with the note on your guitar. When they sound about the same (you will more than likely be able to hear it) then you are in tune on that string.

If you're unsure of what note each string plays open...

E - While holding the guitar as if you were playing it, this is the string closest to your head.
A
D
G
B
E - While holding the guitar... this is the string furthest from your head.

Using a guitar tuner, if you're using an electric guitar then you are usually able to just plug it in and play each note. Indicator lights or some other method of showing you if you are sharp or flat should be on there.

does any one know some good classic rock songs? (link)
I'll just randomly name the best song off the pile of albums next to me (all classic rock ~ For the sake of time and space I won't name the same band twice).

Whipping Post - The Allman Brothers Band
The Turn of a Friendly Card (Part Two) - The Alan Parsons Project
House of the Rising Sun - The Animals
Roll on Down the Highway - Bachman Turner Overdrive
Happiness is a Warm Gun - The Beatles
Sabbra Cadabra - Black Sabbath
On the Road Again - Bob Dylan
Fire On High - Electric Light Orchestra
White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
All Along the Watchtower- The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Battle of Evermore - Led Zeppelin
Diary of a Madman - Ozzy Osbourne
Sheep - Pink Floyd
Simple Sister - Procol Harum
Melancholy Blues - Queen
Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones
The Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel
Kid Charlemagne - Steely Dan
The Pusher - Steppenwolf
Eruption - Van Halen
Slang - Weather Report

~There's plenty more, old, new and in-between. You can direct any further requests to my inbox.

Does anyone know what the name of this song is and who it is by it goes something like "I am my own worst enemy"
Thanks (link)
Or theres a song by a band called LIT.

I'm trying to think of the lyrics - I just heard it for the first time in a few years the other day.

Can we forget about the things I said when I was drunk?
I didn't mean to call you that.
I can't remember what was said or what you threw at me.
Please tell me, please tell me why.

My car is in the front yard.
And I'm
Sleeping with my clothes on.
I came in through the window last night and you're gone. Gone.

It's no surprise to me I am my own worst enemy.
Cause every now and then I kick the living shit out of me.
The smoke alarm is going off, and there's a cigarette.
Still burning, please tell me why.

Thats one of the only ones I can think of - but then again with only that little section of the lyrics, it could be quite a few different songs.

i have limewire and all my friends say its illegal but i think its legal. u dont pay for it or anything. which is it? i rate (link)
Its perfectly legal.

However to USE the program, that is a different story. To download files that would by any other means have to be purchased is illegal and immoral.

And if you are prosecuted for it, we aren't talking the itunes $0.99 a song fee.

Thousands of dollars per song.

By purchasing music at a store you are.
-Placing more money into the pockets of the artist and label, which if you like the music, I don't see why you can't do that.
-Funding the store, allowing it to stay open so others can buy music as well.
-Keeping yourself away from potential lawsuits
-Removing another freeloading bastard from the internet.

And its basically the opposite of that if you download.

Is it hard learning to play the guitar? I hav one and i can play a few songs by ear and now i want to take lessons. And wut r some good books on leanring how to play the guitar? It would help if this came from someone with expierience...thanx...i rate high! (link)
If you can play by ear you shouldn't need books or lessons.

Hey im about to load up my mp3 player with music ive DL but before i do i wanna know if anyone has any suggestions of songs..i listen to rap, hiphop, r&b, nd reggaetone.....i have alot of songs os i might already have what you suggest but i will still rate high for you! thx so much! (link)
Hey! I suggest that you buy music you mooching bastard. I don't mean buy rap CD's - I mean buy REAL music. Its pathetic that you listen to what is basically a police scanner and a metronome and with how much money you will put into an Mp3 player you won't put a fucking cent into the pockets of the artists you are listening to.

Its pathetic and you are responsible for the downfall of music.

I hope you are satisfied.

what are some good songs that were popular in 1990-2000? (link)
I can't name a whole lot for songs, and I can't name a whole lot as far as later ninteys goes. But here are some bands you may want to check out (some bands that made some of the popular songs of the ninteys)

Nirvana
Crash Test Dummies
Stone Temple Pilots
Green Day (By the way, the songs name is Good Riddance - not time of your life. Im not even a fan and I know that.)
Collective Soul
Spin Doctors
Pearl Jam
Marcy Playground

Okay, so I've been doing piano for like 5 years now. When I first got a piano I really wanted to take lessons, but that's when I was like...10? Now it's become insane. It ruins my social life, and I don't practice so my really mean Russian teacher gets really mad! I've asked my mom to let me quit, but she gets so mad whyen I ask and says no! What do I do? I want to quit! (link)
Tell her you quit. I'd think that after about 5 years you have most of the general idea of playing piano, and that after all that time you can pretty much only improve through practice. If you don't want to play - then don't play.

I don't know if anyone on here is gonna know anything about writing music but I was wondering if anyone has any tips on writing music with guitar. I can write lyrics but not music. I've tried writing some music but it usualy ends up very badly. So any tips? (link)
I recommend just spending awhile just playing other peoples music and singing their stuff. There are a lot of websites that you can get chord progressions off of for free. You can get a feel for playing while you sing, then after you get a hang of it start just experimenting by singing and playing the open chords (mix it up with barre once you get a bit better at picking the chords)

If you want further advice you can always talk to me on AIM, which is TheyDiedPretty or you can consult MFS, who answered the question first.

I've seen a few responses from MFS and it seems as if he knows his musical stuff so i'd suggest you go to him before myself, however if you want another persons opinion feel free to talk to me.

hey im looking for some good hip hop or rap songs to play at my sisters dance

Thanks (link)
Hüsker Dü made a lot of really good dance songs, but they don't quite fit under hip hop or rap.

I am quite sure people will like it though.

Is there any way to get music for free at all? I think I heard something about CD's or something...I don't want to have to pay all that money for songs!! =/ (link)
Yes there is, there are many ways to get music, but they are immoral, illegal, and anyone that does do them has no reason to - because they obviously don't care about the artists that they are listening to.

Pay the money, listen to the music. If you people stop paying, they stop making. And only the selfless people will continue to make music, which means that most current music is dead.

And then Bob Weir will be one of the only people still playing music.

I don't have much of a problem with that, but then again, I buy my music, and I don't listen to much for current music anyway.

Hmm, this is kind of random, but I'm not sure what CD I should buy next. I like classic rock mainly, like Pink Floyd.
Any ideas? (link)
I find it funny how you say you like Pink Floyd - yet people suggest a bunch of alternative, metal and such. Floyd is a rockish-psychadellia folks.

I strongly recommend that you check out The Alan Parsons Project, its quite similar to Floyd - they are pre-floyd, and they produced Dark Side of the Moon.

If you like Floyd you will probably like it.

i downloaded iTunes but i dont have an iPod nor an account so how can i download the songs, not buy them ? (link)
Im not sure - but I don't think it works that way. To get the licensing and stuff to distribute the music, they have to pay money, since they have to pay for it, I highly doubt they are willing to give it away.

any one know some hot techno songs? (link)
Do you mean stolen?

If thats the case then yes - nearly every one ever made, try this place called the internet.

what is the song by black eyed peas thats like Oh..Spending all your money on me..and spending time on me.. and its like my humps my humps my humps my humps?

thanks so much!!! (link)
Black Eyed Peas are no talent hacks that steal classic songs and exploit them as their own.

Get a Dick Dale record instead, same music - no bad rap lyrics.

what kind of music is this grateful dead, frank zappa, little feet, the who, rolling stones, led zepplin, pat b., santana, weird al, rage against the machine, jimmy hendrix ?? (link)
Good.

MFS had it quite right.

Frank Zappa is to Rock and Roll what Miles Davis is to Jazz.

hey you guys for summer school i have to take a poll of peoples favorite songs! so can you post ur favorite thanks (link)
St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast by Frank Zappa

Hey u guyz im a prep and i love punk so what are some good prep/punk songs?? (link)
Why bother listening to any music? Odds are the self inflicted shotgun blast to the head is going to rupture your ear drums.
