i had this problem too for a while (im 17 btw and a guy) you could do this over MSN or any Instant messenger you may have, when nothings going on like when you 2 are not chatting say your a little bored or sotmhign and ask her if she wants to play a little gmae of Q and A and that she has to answer only the truth. dont go nuts and ask her how big her boobs are or silly shit like that, start off with a few lite onse like have any bro's or sisters? then after you can think of a few more then ask her if shes ever liked you in that way or if she does now. then would be a good time to confess your love to her unless youve allready done it.
