about

I have worked in nursing and/or healthcare management positions for 24 years. Primarily OB, Neonatal, Mental Health, Occupational Health and Geriatrics. In Jan 2008 I started my own business to board horses and do equine/human education. I am also a certified dog trainer.
I've been around the block so to speak and seem to be always helping others. I've been told that the reason people seek me out for advice is that I am approachable and caring. But on the same token even though I consider the person's feelings. I tell it like I see it. I've dealt with people in trouble with the law, dysfunctional families such as those with abuse & marriage problems. Not to mention problems with employees and employers.
I don't ever claim to know it all, and always keep an open mind.
advice
this seemed like the best column to me, sry if it's not in the right place.
i have serious trouble sleeping. for example, right now it's midnight and i am dead tired. so far i've layed down to go to sleep about 4 or 5 times. every time i do, within 15 to 30 minutes i start to feel very restless. i toss and turn, i try different positions, i sit up and lay back down, and various other things. what should i do? should i go so far as to see a doctor?

As far as seeing a Dr. If this is affecting your daily life when you should be awake, then the answer would be yes. I think the ohters gave some good advice, but since you mentioned tossing and turning it could be something as simple as your mattress. If you can't afford a new one try a feather bed that you can put on top of your mattress. In addition, what I found works for me is to turn my clock backwards and not watch the time!
(Rating: 5) thank you.
yeah my mattress is kinda screwed... i jumped on it alot as a kid (=
