about

Welcome to my advice column. ...Call me Charis. First of all, before I say anything else, let me say this- I come here to give and get advice, not ratings, not comments. If you rate me, tell me whether or not I was of any help to you. Now, that being said, let me say...I'm not your typical sixteen year old girl. I'm not extremely exciting, brilliant, special, or fascinating in any way. I AM however, insane. =P I fit into several "categories" such as redneck, tomboy, bookworm, dork, and band geek, to name a few. I have a wide variety of intrests, including but not limited to: mythology, philosophy, history, art, literature, political science, religion, role playing, music, and current issues. I love politics, and will never cease to voice my opinion about something. I believe is is very important for people (especially young people) to be involved in the world around them. They need to get out, get active, and have a strong, fact-based point of view on things. I'm a very strong conservative. Die-hard, in fact. But I do have friends all over the political scale- democrats, republicans, libertarians...everything, except maybe communist. x_x I support President Bush, and I have an opinion on almost everything and anything political, because I'm good like that. I don't put my email up on sites any more because I get hate mail when someone disagrees with me. I don't mind people having their own opinions, but I refuse to have to put up with some unhinged, crazed maniac who's only goal when writing his/her e-mail is to call my vile names, curse at me, and tell me how stupid I am. I don't care what your political view is- liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican, there're an unhinged left AND an unhinged right, and I don't have the time or patience to put up with either.

I'm a strong supporter of the US Army and other branches of the Armed Forces.

I love animals, and I have two Siberian Huskies- named Hailey and Cupid; and an African Dwarf Frog called Aqua. As I said before, I especially love politics, and will never cease to voice my opinion about something. I believe is is very important for people (especially young people) to be involved in the world around them. They need to get out, get active, and have a strong, fact-based point of view on things.

I collect icons. -random-

I've been told numerous times I'm insane, and I really ought to seek professional help. I have a deep, irreversable fear of: The color pink, sharks, and being abducted by aliens only to fall out of their spaceship and be sucked into a black hole (don't ask)...

The world is my playground, and life is the practice run. ^-^

advice

This is just an example. If I eat 2000 calories a day, and I burn off 2500, does that mean I've lost 500 calories, and 1/7 of a pound?

Or, if I eat 2000 calories, but I require 2200 daily, does that mean I've lost 200 calories?

Which of those two ideas is the correct one?

"If I eat 2000 calories a day, and I burn off 2500, does that mean I've lost 500 calories"--It can be very dangerous to burn off more calories than you take in. Think of it this way- you every day, you take in 2000 calories, and you burn off 2500, yes, you've lost weight, but you have ALSO burned off ALL the food calories you've eaten, so you're not getting any nutrients.

"if I eat 2000 calories, but I require 2200 daily, does that mean I've lost 200 calories?"--no, it means you're not taking in as much as you should. You need to keep at least some of your calories, because a calorie is "A unit of energy-producing potential equal to this amount of heat that is contained in food and released upon oxidation by the body."
