What is the difference between them? I have decided to put my faith into one of them cause i know they both involve Jesus and the Bible but how are they different?do you go to hell for being one over the other? do they worship the same god? and where can i get a bible? also is it true that luthern is based off the bible. I have ruled out Catholic. Also is mastrubating a sin? I will rate 5's for decent help.

There are similarities in the Roman Catholic Church and the Lutheran
church. Martin Luther, the protestant reformer who founded the Lutheran
denomination, broke from the Roman Catholic Church, but kept the parts of
the faith that were scriptural (based on the Bible). Later reformers did
not do this, which is why there are more similarities between them than other
denominations.
They both practice infant baptism, and communion as sacraments. Roman
Catholics have more sacraments than Lutherans do.
Lutherans also reject purgatory, praying to the saints, and praying to Mary as
unscriptural.
Their services are very similar in that they are both liturgical. There is a
set format. They both also have Bible readings, but a sermon that is based on
the readings as well.
Lutheranism is based on scripture alone. Roman Catholism is based on
scripture + Papal decrees + Church history.
Lutheran churches are governed locally, not from a big church hierarchy. You can get a bible from any bookstore.
Christians follow the teachings of, and about, Yeshua of Nazareth, commonly referred to as Jesus Christ. (Jesus is the Greek form of Yeshua which is normally translated as Joshua; Christ is Greek for "the Messiah" or the "anointed one.") Most Christians regard him as the son of God. They further believe that he is God, the second person in the Trinity. (The Trinity consists of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; three separate persons, all eternal, all omnipresent, all omnipotent, all omnibeneficient, who form a single, unified deity.) Most Christians believe that Jesus co-existed with God before the creation of the world, was born of a virgin, was bodily resurrected three days after his death, and later ascended to Heaven. Most conservative Christians believe that Hell awaits anyone who has not repented of their sins and trusted Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Church history:
After Jesus's death, his followers formed the Jewish Christian movement, centered in Jerusalem.
Saul of Tarsus, originally a persecutor of the Jewish Christians, reported having a vision of the risen Christ, circa 34 CE while on the road to Damascus. Adopting the new name of Paul, he became the greatest theologian of the early Christian movement. His writings, along with those of the author(s) of the Gospel of John, provided much of the theological foundation for what has been called Pauline Christianity, a movement that he spread throughout the northern and eastern Mediterranean basin. Paul's ministry was directed mainly to Gentiles -- non-Jews. Another belief system was Gnostic Christianity. They taught that Jesus was a spirit being sent by God to impart knowledge to humans so that they could escape the miseries of life on earth.
The Roman Empire recognized Pauline Christianity as a valid religion in 313 CE. Later in that century, it became the official religion of the Empire. From there the crusades and such happened and Christianity evolved (heh) into what it is today.
That last part about church history, I actually looked up online. My knowledge of religious history isn't that great. It's something I need to work on.
My question to you is what made you return to religion? You signed a former atheist. As a non-believer myself I am wondering why the change of heart.
