Hey there. Well, I started birth control last Sunday. I haven't even been on it for a complete week. Well, my boyfriend and me had sex, and I read in this little book I have about the birth control I'm taking, and it says it takes a month for birth control to become effective. I really worried now. Is there a chance I could get pregnant? I mean, does it actually take a month, or do they mean, the first time you take it, it's effective? (link)

Okay, well your 1st question, yes it does take a month. I had to be on the pill when I was like 12(not because I was sexually active, I had slightly disfunctional overaies and it was a way to make me start, I know to much info but I felt I should explain. lol.) But anyways, it took over a month to start working correctly. Oh and just a peice of advice, even if your on the pill you should still use a condom. The pill isnt 100%, it only reduces the chance, especially if you dont take it the same time everyday. As far as your 2nd question yes you can become pregnant at those times. You can become pregnant anytime but your highest chance of getting pregnant is the week after your period. That is when you are "ovualating." In my opinion you should take a pregnancy test the week after your next period (weather you've had it or not!) Good luck and lemme know how it goes!! =)
