I got a new computer in December of '06. And it already had microsoft office word 2003 on it. BUT, I have to have a product key to use it, and the computer box didn't come with a cd for it, or anything. So, did they just put that on the computer, to try to get me to buy it, or is there really a way to find the product key? WITHOUT HAVING TO CALL SOMEONE.
you have to buy microsoft word 2003 separately. the program on your computer is sort of a demo program and will not fully function unless you go to best buy (or wherever) and purchase microsoft word 2003. it sucks, but that's the only legal way.
Okay, so my WHOLE life I thought you just stuck up your middle finger like this- http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/157678/2/istockphoto_157678_middle_finger.jpg
But people at my school are doing this-

What's the difference? It seems like the gothic/emo/punk people do it the 2nd way.. but I donno..
there's not really a difference, it's just by preference. whatever feels natural to you.
Is there any craft store that sells stirefoam balls that are different sizes to model the Solar System? Anything like a Michael's or any kind of craft store like that? Thanks!
i normally go to hobby lobby for things like that. walmart might even have them.
In the grade 8 graduation they gave some awards for some subjects. How many are there and what are they?
it depends solely on your school. some schools, like mine, don't even have an eighth grade graduation. go ask a teacher, friend, counselor, principal, office worker... et cetera. they should know.
FIRST PART: Ok I joined an online dating service and I was emailing one of the guys who wanted to know about me and what I looked like. My mom said tell him you are tall and slim. I said to her why did you say slim and not thin because I am thin. She replied because it sound sexier. I got a little upset that she said slim because she always tells me I am thin/skinny. She said slim means thin but sounds sexier. MY QUESTION: AM I OVERREACTING AND WHAT DO YOU THINK OF WHAT SHE SAID? SECOND PART: Today at work I had to call my mom. During the course of the phone conversation I asked her about slim and thin. I said to her that I was surprised she said slim because she always tells me I am thin. And she said you are - you are even skinny, but slim sounds nicer. She said; if someone is a bleached blonde you would not say bleached blonde because it isnt nice so you would say blonde. It is the same with thin, instead of saying thin you would say slim. Well then tonight I asked her again and she said the following; (1) at the beginning of tonights conversation - you wouldnt put thin on the online dating service because thin sounds anorexic; (2) towards the end of the conversation - what is the difference between thin and slim. MY QUESTION: WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF WHAT TRANSPIRED ABOVE?
slim and thin mean the same thing. they have the same denotation. however, they have differnt connotations. slim does sound sexier. that's not saying that you're slim and not thin... because they're the same thing. your mom was just trying to make you sound even more appealing to the guy. there is no difference between thin and slim. it's all a matter of connotation. skinny and thin make you sound twiggy. she didn't mean for it to offend you, she was just showing you that you can use different synonyms for the same thing to get completely different points across.
is england a country?
england is a country, and it's part of the region known as great britain. it's in europe.
An old friend gave me his email address ages ago and I've lost it, I think I can remember the beginning of it but can't remember the rest.
I don't want to guess and end up emailing private stuff to a complete stranger. Is there a website or something where I can do a search?
He's with hotmail but hotmails user search isn't at all good.
here are some websites where you may be able to find his email address... myspace and facebook! do a user search on both and see if he has an email address listed. you can also google his first and last name to see if he's posted his email address anywhere. if you remember part of his email address, try searching for that on google too. since you know he has hotmail, that will be easier to google. you could also do a search on aol instant messenger (if he has aim), but those are not always great.
a ton of bricks would hurt more than a ton of feathers right? i know its the same weight, but the bricks are harder, and have more force??
it depends, are you talking about having a ton of bricks catapulted at your head? i would say that the bricks hurt more... they would have more force. they would probably kill you. i mean, if you had a ton of anything dropped on you, it would be painful, but the bricks would probably kill you.
My parents think I have sleep apnea because I get in bad moods allot, and I fall asleep all the time, and snore. Does anyone on here have sleep apnea or know symptoms? I'm getting tested for it this summer but I just want to know if anyone on here knows anything about it.
my grandmother has sleep apnea. she pretty much had the same symptoms as you- sleepy all the time, falls asleep at random intervals, snoring. she went to this clinic to get tested, and she was positive, so they gave her this sort of breathing machine thing, and you wear it while you sleep. it really helps, apparently. i'm not sure if she still has to use it or not, but it definitely helped. sleep apnea is something that can be treated, so you're in luck if you have it :)
i want powerpoint or excel, and i thought it came with microsoft, and i have microsoft, but i dont see it, helppp
it doesn't come with windows xp, if that's what you're asking. you would have to buy it separately. i think that you can buy powerpoint and excel separately, or you can buy microsoft office, which has powerpoint, excel, word, publisher, access, picture manager, and all kinds of stuff. you can get that at best buy or any store where you can get computer related things. it's pretty expensive, though. the cool thing about microsoft office is that you can download it to three different computers, so if one of your friends has the software, ask if you can borrow it to put it on your computer. that's what i did.
i have to write a poem about thing to sell that cant be sold, for example "a rainy day in april" or "lies" or things like that, but i dont know what to write! can i please get some inspiration? should i write about thing i'd want to be able to buy but cant be bought like love and honesty and positive things, or things that i have in my life that are bad and i'd like to sell? whats best? thankss!
this may sound really dumb, but this is what i would write about... you know that feeling you get when it's summertime and warm outside, so you walk outside barefoot and the grass is green and it just makes you really happy? i would write about that because you can't sell that feeling. it's pretty much one of the best feelings in the world though.
i walked outside yesterday
and had the most wonderful feeling.
the sun was yellow, the grass was green,
and it was really quite appealing.
i thought to myself,
"why not make some money?
i can bottle this feeling,
a feeling sweeter than honey.
surely others will buy it,
it's a rare find!
that's what i'll do,
i would be so kind."
so i took a jar
and scooped up the air
alongside all of the feelings
i had hoped to share.
but then i discovered
when i opened the jar
was absolutely nothing!
it was quite bizarre!
how could i sell something
that did not exist?
oh, exist it did
it had been in my midst!
while i still had the feeling,
where did it go?
it occured to me then
that it, i could not stow.
hey!
Well it seems like everytime I come on this site I find another person using another slang word or symbol I don't understand lmao. So I was just wondering what the percent symbol means or if it even means anything. I know, it's a stupid question but I was just wondering lol. Thanks
i don't think it means anything. it could just be a typo? it depends on the context though. like, if you showed me the sentence or whatever that you're talking about, then i would be able to tell you more, but i really do not think it means anything. other than percentage :)
I have a Razr v3 and T-Mobile. This morning, it accidentally ran through the wash and it doesn't work anymore. The little circle that shows if it has water damage is red. Will T-Mobile let me get it replaced for a new Razr v3?
most likely, no. i'm sorry. i have cingular and the same thing happened to me with my v3 last september. i called to see if they would replace it under warranty, but water damage violates the warranty. because they will replace it if the phone is messed up due to a factory problem. however, if you sent your phone through the wash, they won't replace it. it sucks. but that's what the little dot is for: so that they can tell if it has water damage or not, and whether or not to replace it. however, this is a pretty slim chance, but take your phone apart (like take out the battery and sim card) and leave it out for a few days. then put it back together and see if it works. mine didn't work, but some of my friends phones have in the past after they had water damage. but, here's the bright side: even though you can't get one from t-mobile, you can get a phone off of ebay for half the price of a brand new one. because you would just want the phone, not a new contract. anyway, it sucks, but that's all you can do for your phone.
hey.
when you write a name of a roller coaster in a formal
paper, how would you correctly punctuate it?
example: for a book, one italicizes or underlines the title. for a song, one puts it in quotes.
thank youu.
like others said, just capitalize the first letter of each word. it makes a lot of sense to me to think of it as a place... like if you said that you went to a certain place (proper noun), it would look like... "The other day I went to Chili's, and I went to Applebee's today." anyway, i hope that makes a little more sense.
i need a song that relates to dancing. i have this project in school like all about me. and on my dance team page, i want a song about dancing. no bad words. any suggestions?
"all she wants to do is dance" - don henley
what is 36% of 75?
36% is the same as .36, and "of" really means "multiply these two numbers." so, .36 X 75 = 27.
well you know how you americans brag about how you live in a democracy and what not, how come the native american indians aren't allowed to vote??
they are allowed to vote, as long as they are citizens of the united states. however, many live on reservations that have been set aside for them by the united states of america. i'm not sure, but i believe the reservations are not considered the actual united states of america because those lands were set aside for the indians when america was being settled... so it never has been america. but they can vote if they want to.
i need help on homework, i forgot my book and we need to know the measurements in an ounce in order to find it:
Terry made 192 fluid ounces of punch for a party. Which is equivalent to 12 fluid ounces?
A. 2 gallons
B. 6 quarts
C. 16 pints
D. 32 cups
i need to also show the work for this problem, please & thank you!=)
here's a little bit that might help you: there are 8 oz in one cup, two cups in a pint, four cups in a quart, and sixteen cups in a gallon. there are two pints in one quart, and eight pints in one gallon. there are four quarts in one gallon. with that out of the way... knowing that 8 fluid ounces is equal to one cup, you can convert 192 into cups by dividing 192 by 8. that ends up being 24 cups, so you can rule out answer d. 16 pints and 2 gallons are the exact same thing, so you can also rule those out (that's a little trick that i love... if two answers are the same, it can be neither). because there are four cups in one quart, and 24 cups in all, 24 divided by four is six... so that gives you six quarts. terry made six quarts of punch for his party.
What way can you actually break an arm.
Ive thought aout a few ways but they dont exactly make sense.
Any ways to make it easier at least?
xo
are you trying to break your own arm? please don't. but if you are asking of ways people have broken their arms in the past, one of my friends fell out of a tree, and somebody else i know broke their arm playing softball (she was trying to catch the ball and it knocked the crap out of her arm). when you break your arm, it never fully heals to the way it was. it could grow funny. and plus, you have to wear a cast for a very long time and it is painful like you would not believe. but if you're trying to break your own arm, please don't go and fall out of a tree!
what was the best book you have ever read when you were 13? or best book in general... that a 13 year old could read and comprehend? i feel like i've read all the good books. i've always loved reading since i was little.. im not like a geek/nerd or anything, some are just really good. uh.. my favorite kind of books are ones that are about kids like around my age.. doesnt matter the gender, going through life and etc, and... just like are good page turners. i dont care how long it is.. just not like 300 pages please! here are some of the books im already interested in and have read (uh.. i forget alot of others though lol)
- Shug by Jenny Han
- Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
- The Clique by Lisi Harrison
- How to be popular by Meg Cabot
- Avalon High by Meg Cabot
- Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot
- Hoot (the novel)
- harry potter series
- a wrinkle in time
- any book by roald dahl
- junie b. jones - barbara park (haha i love these)
- any babysitter's club book
etc.
and please dont say like gossip girl, the it girl, a series of unfortunate events, and the chronicles of narnia.
THANKS!
PS: why do so many kids of today hate reading so much, anyway?
i'm 15/f, and you just described my bookshelf :) anyway, some really awesome authors are: sarah dessen (AMAZING) and laurie halse anderson. also, there's a book called "confessions of a teen nanny" and it's sort of a series- it's good too. have you read the mediator series by meg cabot? there are six of those and they are some of my favorite books ever. there is a book called "scrambled eggs at midnight" and the cover is white with two eggs and one looks like it has been kissed with green lipstick. i'm not sure who wrote it, but it is definitely one of the best books in the world. when you get older, or maybe if you're really mature for your age, you should read "the perks of being a wallflower", which is about a 15 year old boy, and "to kill a mockingbird", which is about two kids growing up in a town in mississippi in the 1930s or something. those two are definitely on my favorite book list. i'm trying to think of random stuff off the top of my head... if you haven't read "the notebook" by nicholas sparks, you are missing out. also, meg cabot writes some adult novels (not like trash novels, but just more mature) and i've read one of them (i can't remember which one) but they are really good. i think they're called like "the boy next door" and "boy meets girl" or something. i'm not quite sure. why do kids hate reading? i have no idea. i honestly wish that more kids did read. i can't understand people that are proud of the fact that they don't read. you know how on facebook/myspace it has the "favorite books" section and some people put "i don't read..."? that's the most annoying thing ever. it's like they're admitting to being morons. so i love when i get to answer questions like this about books for teens because people my age really should read more.
