My name is Devin Lindsey or Vinny as my sister calls me! I am 17 years old and go to Bethel Park High school. I loooove swimming along with dancing, singing, and playing softball. I also run varsity track with is alright i supose too.


My favorite colors are orange, pink, and blue. I love to be crazy and have a good time

I've had a job working for 15+ monthes so I can answer alot about that

and I know alot about relationships in general so I can be helpful with that sometimes

especially with parent child relationships


I am a very observant person and tend to know more and care about more than most my age


and I really believe in volunteering to help animals especially at shelters. Usually its not their fault that they have to live their and its usually horrible cercimstances that bring them there and I feel terrible that they can't speak for themselves and people are too caught up in spending like $500 on this cute little pure breed puppy from a breeder just into getting rich instead of giving one of these dogs another chance at life (there are usually a handful of dogs under a year old so the i want a puppy excuse doesn't work with me)

My baby is named Lainey Mae... we got her from a shelter about 2 hours away from us when she was 7 weeks old. she is now 2 years old and the center of our family. unfortunately someone was cruel enough to go down and drug up and shoot (but luckly not kill) most of the dogs plus rob the owner (just like someone did at the shelter where I volunteer) and its now shut down

Sunday I am getting my hair cut 10 inches and donating it to locks of love. My natural hair is kind of frizzy and wavy. I usually wear it like that because I dont want to damage my hair. I usually straighten it on fridays and the weekends. When I get it cut should I wear it naturally or should I straigten it? I dont want to give frizzy hair to lock of love but I want the hair stylist to see how I usually wear it. So help please.

I would say straighten it. or atleast semi straighten it so it makes it easier for them to cut your hair and make sure they are cutting an even amount of hair from you. also chances are they will straighten it anyways so you may be saving them some time

either way it shouldn't really matter because your stylist will see your natural hair when she wets/washing is after they cut the 10 inches off

I have a medium skin tone, and a few blimishes from acne. I still get the occasional pimple or blackhead, but that's no biggie, what I need advice on is a good cover up make-up that will last all day, or even 6-8 hours would be nice. And I do have slightly oily skin. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

i use maybelline (sp?) foundation as my coverup... its the best stuff i have found.

its cheap and lasts until i take it off!

the only bad thing about it is the tanner you are the more orangy the tint it gives you

Sort of fair to medium skin color

I'm going to FL for spring break and have some questions about getting a great tan.

-- Does tanning oil work?
-- I heard that when you shave your legs, you shave off the tan ;; is that true?
-- If so what is an alternative that will keep your tan?
-- What is the best way to get an GREAT tan that will just wow people when you come back?
-- Where do you get those heart and star stickers for your stomach for when you tan?

tannings oils work great (usually the more expensive the better it is, make sure its for outdoor tanning)

the less you shower and the more lotion you use the better you will keep your tanning

you don't shave off your tan but as you bathe you do lose your tan from washing away dead skin because most tanning oils have bronzers that only color your skin (almost like a self tanner in them which gives you the best effect)

you get the best tan in the early afternoon (usually from like 12-3)


i get my heart stickers at my tanning salon.. I am sure you can find ones similar to them at craft stores (thats all they really are are those kind of stickers)

or you can just go to a tanning salon and see if they will sell you a few

are new seasons of laguna beach or the hills going to come on tv? i know hills season 2 just ended, but i mean in the future.

there will def be another season of the hills! that show is just getting hot and juicy

as for laguna beach that is questionable... they are most likely already filming that so it should def say whether is there is or not on mtv.com but that show has been fading in popularity so we will see

hi, well i desperately need money for something im saving up for. what jobs can i do, like on weekends that pay high, and are suitable for 15 year old. like handing out fliers etc? thanks

i know at most places you can be a caddy. i believe they make min wage plus tips which isn't bad.

also mowing lawns doesn't pay badly


but other than that high paying jobs are hard to find until you are out of college

but doing something on your own like lawn care will pay more than like mcdonalds because you can set your own fee and you don't have to pay taxes

I am sixteen yeras old, and wear a size 12 in sevens and a size 14 in rock and republic (in the kids department) I am too small to fit into rock and republic jeans made for women in a size 24. The other day I was in Saks and found rock and republic jeans for kids but there the largest size there was, was a 12, and I would either wear a 14 or even 16 if they made them.

But does anyone know where (online or at a store) I can find rock and republic jeans for kids in a size 14?

PS I'd appreciate if people didn't say oh! well check in the women's department, try looking at saks again, or try ebay. I am specifically looking for rock and republic jenas for kids in a size 14 or 16 online or at anther store.

i would have my boyfriends mom take me, but are you surrre its free? and if they decided to like put me on antibiotics or do something to fix it would i have to pay for that? because i dont have any money. and do you know if id have to go to a pharmacy to pick the medicine up or would they give it to me there? and on more ? about that, would my parents have to be with me or something to pick up the prescription since im only 15?

usually everything is free. at most if it was something really expensive they would charge you like $25.. like birth control thats what they usually charge.


I have never been there myself I have only talked to the people working there, so i cannot give you specific details but i know they make everything as cost free as possible because they see mainly teens

ive been to the doctor probably 4 or 5 times (the last time i went was on friday) becuase i had like a viral infection, got reinfected or whatever and blah blah blah. but, i need to go again i think but idk if my parents will take me. i bled after sex abouttt 8 months ago i think. then, about a week ago i bled again but it was weird. i bled, thought it stopped but didnt and i put a tampon in because i figured i had my period. that day and the day after it was really light, then the next 3 days it was really heavy. on friday it stopped and i had sex yesterday and i bled. it stopped but everytime we had sex again yesterday i bled again. i came home and i went to the bathroom and noticed dry blood in my underwear, wiped and their was blood on the toilet paper. so i went to bed with a pad and theres like a quarter sized blood spot on it. what do you think is wrong? my parents dont know we have sex, and they cant know. absolutely cann nott know. so, could i get away with saying, hey mom i think i need to go to the doctor because i keep bleeding inbetween my periods? but ive noticed ive only bled when we had rough sex and it felt like he was too deep. could that just be the problem and am i okay then? and no, its not my hymen breaking, ive been having sex with him for a year now, and oh yeah im 15 years old.

try going to a place like planned parenthood. they can do confidential check ups without your parents having a clue (unless you have something extremely serious that requires surgery or what not then you might wanna tell them)
but they can get you a gyno appointment free of charge and they will be able to see exactly what your problem is

I really want to be a model. a lot of people tell me that id be a good one. the problem is, i'm too short. i'm not a short person, and i have really long legs. but right now, i'm only 5 foot four and a half. i did a thing that predicts your height when your older and it said i'd be 5'5.5. thats not good enough. does anyone know if that should be around right?

this whole thing with models and height is misleading....

most runway models are usually around 5'10"

but to model clothes im magazines and stuff you don't have to be tall at all..


no matter what your height is if your face and body has potential some modeling agency will take notice

without going to a doctor is basically impossible to tell

but do you get cramps when you are having your period? cramps are from the egg going from the fallopian tube to the uterus and if you get no cramps that could possibley be an early sign (or you are just lucky enough not to feel them)

My son's 3 years. Everytime I ask him if he needs to wee he says no. When he says yes and I get him on the potty seat (which is on the toilet seat)...he doesn't do anything, then when I let him go about 10 minutes later he messes himself or uses the diaper.
I know when he wants to poo but when I get him on the seat he never does it there. I bought pull ups today and hopefully it will help.

My question really is how to approach the potty training for a boy of 3 years. I want to get him into school soon but the only wait is potty training!

try rewards.. that always worked for me

I got an M&M for everytime i used the potty and that got me hooked because before that i never wanted to.

for my sister my parents sang a song where she could dance when she was done

Also try to buy books that invlove potty training and maybe if he sees the little boy in the book going he may feel more motivated

and i would be patient

I teach 3 year old preschool and we had a boy who could not attend till the spring session because in the fall he still wasn't potty trained

Today a woman down the street called my mom and asked if I could come over and get aquianted with her kids so I can be her mother's helper. The reason she called is because a few months ago my mom gave her our number, I never met the woman. The problem is, I have no idea what I should do when I go to their house. I'm REALLY shy and i'm not all outgoing to adults (actually all people) like "OH HEY! NICE TO MEET YOU!! AWW YOUR KIDS ARE SOOOO CUTE! HI THER (INSERT KIDS NAME HERE)!! I want to be like myself when I go there, so how should I act to the mom? Also, what should I first say to the kids when i meet them? I don't want to seem like i don't like them. Ok second question: When i'm actually doing the job, WHAT ARE SOME THINGS I CAN DO TO KEEP THE KIDS HAPPY AND LIKE ME SO THEY ASK IF I CAN COME BACK? They are girls and i'm pretty sure they are 3 and 5 years old. Thank you!

First I would be calm and just be yourself and talk to her almost like a friend. thats what i do because if you think about it chances are their parents aren't really as old as you might think (they are usually closer to your age than your parents or somewhere in the middle)

but just ask them question start with how old are you what is your name etc.. (make sure you get down to their level) and then ask them questions about maybe an animal on their shirt or a toy they are holding.. from there they will really open up to you and start talking even the shyest kid.


As a mothers helper you want really have to plan to much because mom will still be around. usually when i babysit i bring some sort of art activity (at libraries they have tons of teachers aid books loaded with different activities to do with preschoolers)

also usually running outside and playing hide and seek (although you pretend to hide your eyes) does alot of justice

on your first time going over i would maybe see if you can find like a magic trick you can do that they can keep (like something appears in your hand like a weird coin or something special) to lighten the mood and interest them


it will be alot easier than you think

just avoid movies and video games! althought they keep kids entertained i feel bad taking parents money and their children never learning anything

one big hit is making homemade play dough (http://babyparenting.about.com/cs/activities/a/playdough.htm) or baking things like cookies

it passes alot of time and makes a good snack or activity

My sister and her friend (they're 14 years old in middle school) asked me if they could go to a friend's house at 11:00 tonight. I asked them about it, and they said that they would go to a guy's house who's also 14. He lives about a 10 minute walk away from our house. They don't want me to tell our mom.

Basically, I said no. My sister and her friend told me that the guy's parents don't know about it and that they would WALK there. I explained that 2 girls outside at 11pm is very dangerous. So they asked if I could drive them (I'm 16). I said no to that because no parents know about it, and I just don't have a good feeling about it (I don't think they'd have sex, I just think something bad will happen, like get caught).

My sister doesn't understand because earlier this year, I came home from a party because of my 11pm curfew, but I went back to the party til 12am when I found out that my mom was asleep. I think that these are completely different situations: there were parents at the party who knew about the party, my mom was drunk that night so she wouldn't get mad, and I wouldn't be walking.

I don't your situation was completely different. I think its very similiar. you both went somewhere you shouldn't have when you weren't allowed (well she wanted to)

she looks up to you and if she sees that you think its okay to sneek out she thinks its okay for her.

although you were watching out for her safety which is great she is probally gettin mixed messages (trust me I am 17 and have a sister who will be 14 next month I know what you are going through)

I don't think it would have been fair to rat her out when you went out and she kept her mouth shut... so basically let her go and risk whatever might happen or follow the same rules you set for her and she might be more understanding

my uncle's wife thinks i am a bitch that i steal other girls style and make myself look stupid. i am not i don't even buy clothes. she's like in her 20's so she thinks she can just pick on me. i don't steal anyone 's style at all. i don't even like how they dress. i hate her i don't want this happening. i can tell even without her talking to my mom i know she has done something that would make them think like her.

I'd ignore her. Eventually she will mature but in the meanwhile i would be the bigger person. If she truely hates you and it doesn't look like she is annoying you by that she will quit. I would take to your parents/uncle and maybe find out why she is acting the way she is. for all you know it could just be a huge misunderstanding

ok i have rlly thin hair. i hate it cause it gets rlly oily and thin like 2 days after i wash it and i hate it. all the girls in my school have rlly thick healthy hair and i rlly want thick hair. i use these nioxin shampoos that are supposed to help stimulate hair growth but they dont work that well. i eat pretty healthy i NEVER eat fast food always home-cooked, organic. i dunno what to do! its so thin and i want it to be thick and healthy :(

try getting it layered.. if done right it adds some volume

and also try volumizing moosse (sp?) thats helped me alot

I would say consult with a hairdresser.. because none of us truely know you we can't say exactly what it is but hair dresses will be able to cut your hair better to make it fuller and give you the best advice

okay i really want a puppy but my mom says no because she doesn't believe me when i say i'll take care of it myself. how do i convince her i'm responsible enough for a puppy and that i will take care of it? i'm 13/f if that helps

well i had the same thing happen to me. what I acually did was i started volunteering at a dog shelter.. not only because i wanted to get a new dog but i needed community service hours too. my whole family started going and eventually we were all convinced we needed to help one of those dogs out and bring them into our lives. (because they are in a really sad state and the whole situation at dog shelters can be really sad). well we started looking around and eventually we found a 6 week old beagle puppy at a shelter who has happily been living with us for almost 2 years. (she will be 2 march 21st)

it took about a year to convince my parents but it was def. worth the wait. I knew getting my parents involved would make their hearts melt too.

alright,so i was at the doctors yesterday

and i wouldnt grow that much more maybe two more inches.I wanna grow taller,because i model

She told me that i wouldnt grow anymore b.c I already went through puberty.I'm 14years old by the way.And my parents and whole family are all tall? The doctor was a complete idiot by the way ( first time seeing her she thought she had me all figured out )

chances are she is about right... most girls go through most of their growing when they are 10-13 and once puberty and the period comes your growing dramatically stops and there isn't much you can do.. but its all your genes if you think about it.. talk and see when your mom stopped growing.. your spine doesn't stop growing till you are 20 so you aren't totally done.. althought i am 17 have been 5'1" ish since about 6th grade and both of my parents are a decent amount taller than me


although there are things that can stunt any further growing that might happen that you might want to avoid:

Smoking
coffee
lots of pop
birth control

5'8" is not a bad height for a model at all. Most runway models are about 5'10" so if you get the right kind of clothes and shoes you can atleast give your body the illusion of an extra inch or two.

and besides not all models are tall. just mainly runway models... if you have the talent the height really doesn't matter that much


just keep your head up because there is nothing you can really do or take to make yourself taller

English is not my first language (it's my 4th, in fact) but I don't I'll have trouble getting my point across.

I'll turn 18 on the 28th of March. But here's the deal: I don't know how to throw a party. Last year, only 4 out of 20 people showed up...So I'm in deperate need of advice here.

Thing is, I won't be in the country for my birthday. I will be somewhere abroad for a field trip with my university. I will return back home on the 29th (afternoon). I want to relax for the rest of that day then throw an awesome party/gathering the day after. BUT I have not idea what to do...my taste in music sucks, I don't want to celebrate it at home where my family will most likely be to embarass me like every year, and I don't want it to be boring...

More details: I've 10 people that I want to invite, boyfriend included, no family members, car/transportation is available, money is not an issue, party can 'last' for more than 24 hours (since it's my day [basically] and I get to stay out till whenever)

If party starts at home then ends up somewhere outdoors, that's fine too. I just don't wanna spend it at home and only home.

Maybe go for a mini vacation? You didn't say where you were from so its kind of hard to give you specific ideas but what about renting a van and going away for a weekend? to like a sporting even or the beach or something... nothing totally fancy but just something that will get you a way.
