is there anyways i can get myself to fall asleep? i am up sometimes like 2 hours after i lay down and its like 3 am! no naps...

Here are some simple tips that many people have found helpful.

Do's...

Make sure that your bed and bedroom are comfortable - not too hot, not too cold, not too noisy.

Make sure that your mattress supports you properly. It should not be so firm that your hips and shoulders are under pressure or so soft that your body sags. Generally, you should replace your mattress every 10 years to get the best support and comfort.

Get some exercise. Don't overdo it, but try some regular swimming or walking. The best time to exercise is in the daytime - particularly late afternoon or early evening. Exercising later than this may disturb your sleep.

Take some time to relax properly before going to bed. Some people find aromatherapy helpful.

If something is troubling you, and there is nothing you can do about it right away, try writing it down before going to bed and then tell yourself to deal with it tomorrow.

If you can't sleep, get up and do something you find relaxing. Read, watch television or listen to quiet music. After a while you should feel tired enough to go to bed again.

Don'ts...

Don't go without sleep for a long time - go to bed when you are tired and stick to a routine of getting up at the same time every day, whether you still feel tired or not.

Caffeine hangs around in your body for many hours after your last drink of tea or coffee. Stop drinking tea or coffee by mid-afternoon. If you want a hot drink in the evening, try something milky or herbal (but check there's no caffeine in it).

Don't drink a lot of alcohol. It may help you fall asleep, but you will almost certainly wake up during the night.

Don't eat or drink a lot late at night. Try to have your supper early in the evening rather than late.

If you've had a bad night, don't sleep in the next day - it will make it harder to get off to sleep the following night.


If the sleeping problem occurs for a week or something every month, it's probably hormones. Doctors believe teenage bodies tend to be awake late at night/early morning then tired at 11am in the morning. Just give some of them things a go. Sometimes i can't sleep because i just don't feel tired, then i wake up every hour! talk about annoying lol, hormones do strange things.

is their a suntan lotion that makes you tan for a long period of time? cause i get tan pretty quickly but after like a week without being in the sun for awhile it fades. thanks in advance. (link)
Make sure you moisturise everyday when you've got a tan as dry skin makes the tan fade. Also get a tinted moisturiser for everyday use like johnsons, st tropez or l'oreal. There are so many gradual tan moisturisers out there just shop around and read reviews for the best ones. When i have a tan i use st. tropes everyday tanning moisturiser which keeps you tan nice.

Hi, No matter what I do, when I remove hair from my bikini area, I get an itchy, rash with razor bumps. I've tried TEND SKIN & BIKINI ZONE & baby powder. Any ideas? (link)
Try waxing? I used to shave there and as i'm quite dark it was hell! and i got bumps and everything. I would say waxing is the best thing, it doesn't hurt as much as people say it does, and the results are so much better than shaving! If it scares you too much though make sure you exfoliate before you shave, cleanse and keep it clean before hand and use a clean new good razor and shaving gel.

I'm a girl by the way...Ok so im pretty sure that im ready to have sex for the first time. But im really afraid it will hurt, like a lot. I've been fingered once before and that hurt a lot too. So i'm afraid that i wont be able to enjoy it because it will hurt so much. i know it sounds stupid but please help.

It probably hurt because you were nervous and tense so your muscles went tight. The fact that you're worrying so much about it will probably make sex hurt as again you'll be worried and scared so you're muscles with contract and tighten. If and when you're ready, whenever that is, you need to relax and not get all worked up, as your muscles with relax and the experience will be more enjoyable for you. I would calm down about the issue more before you decided whether or not you're ready. When it happens it happens, just don't panic and relax, don't live to regret it:)


13/f, Me and my boyfriend were talking on the phone last night and then i just randomly said, do you like another girl? Then he HUNG up!!, then i tried calling him the next morning and never got a hold of him so i messaged him saying do you like another girl or not? Then he messaged me back saying i cant believe you thought i liked susie[exgirlfriend]!! And then he goes. i guess its over then. the thing is i dont want it to be over, we have been going out for 7 months and im scared to loose him, what do i say to tell him i dont want it to be over?

Sorry i may have got this wrong but...Did you actually say 'do you like susie?' ?? If you didn't then he might like her if he's brought her name up without you even mentioning it. Guys get touchy when you accuse them of this kind of thing (just like us i suppose lol). Before you say anything just think to yourself, do you really want to get back together..
1) He's ended it for such a tiny issue even though you've been going out for 7 months..If he hiding something?
2) Do you really want a relationship where you don't feel secure with him(As you think he likes another girl)?
Just stop and think before you get back together, as i found out after a one year relationship (we broke up over the same sort of thing as you), sometimes it's a blessing to let them go, i just feel if they're genuine they would make more of an effort to stay together. I know it feels like your world is caving in but after a while it's okay, they hardest part is when it's just ended.

Okay...If you've done that and you still want to get back together with him, you need to talk to him. You haven't got anything to lose really, if you don't try your best you're going to lose him anyway. Tell him how you feel and that you only asked because you love him and you're a bit insecure about him as you don't understand how you can have someone as nice as him, just tell him how you feel:) Mine probably sounds stupid to you lol but you can make your own up:)

B's are a good basis, just go through your work more and read things through again and again to get them in your head from the very beginning and don't leave work to the very last minute, the sooner you do it and complete it the better it will be (while the work is still in your head). I'm in England so i don't really get the american/australian school system sorry, but in England we have exams throughout the year to help us for our mocks and gcse's (English exams you do at 16) from the age of 8ish. If you don't have tests/exams throughout the year like i do, create your own or get a teacher or friend to do one for you, they're really annoying but have helped me so much over the years, i was getting B's and a few A's last year when all my friends were getting the same, now this year (going into Gcse year) I've been predicted A*'s for my gcse exams because i really concentrated when all my friends were chatting and being disruptive in lessons and not revising for exams like i used too. Now they're all annoyed because they've been predicted C's and B's lol. Just go over work from class over and over again and really concentrate in lessons, even if anyone says anything to distract you, you'll end up the better one:) It's not about being smart, it's about putting the time in to learn the subjects, you don't have to be a brain box to get good grades:)

I finally got registered at a gym (after weeks like wowww) and I was wondering how long I should be spending there, 3 days a week, and if I can push it, 4 days. If it's any help, I want to lose atleast 15 lbs by the end of summer (20 is preferred). (link)
Hmm 20lb in about 8 weeks? i'm guessing...It is extreme and could become unhealthy like i said in another question. Depending how active you are already tells you how much you can do at the gym.. 3-4 days a week ( 4 more effective obv.) giving yourself 2 rest days (not next to each other, say sat and weds). It's good to do a mixture of cardio a weights throughout those days though to help weight loss, speeding up the metabolism. Increasing the time periods in the gym each week with help in making you fit too and doing interval training when running will boost your weight loss. Controlling your diet will help too.

I've heard that if the more overweight an individual is the faster they'd lose weight, same if they're short (I don't really understand how the short one applies though). This is my question: If an individual is not necessarily overweight but is pushing it, and has a lot of flab, would it be faster to lose the flab by means of a healthy diet and exercising, than a person who has a healthy weight?

Hmm it's true that heavier people lose more weight than lighter people as they weigh more obviously, the height thing isn't really true you just notice weight loss more on a shorter person than on a taller person. The individual who is 'pushing it' is probably eat ingmore and exercising less than a person who is lighter than them generally (obviously there are exceptions like if they do lots of sports they may have muscle or they may just be naturally thin..), but my point is if you eat more, you can find it easier to cut out say 500 calories if you eat say 2000 a day whereas a thinner person may only eat 1500 already so would find it hard to change their diet; the same applies for exercise, if you exercise less then it's easier to increase your exercise whereas if you already exercise 45 minutes a day it would be a lot harder. Also if you have a 9 stone person and a 20 stone person, the 9 stone person can only lose 1-1/12 stone maximum within going anorexic so they have a limit making it a slower less effective process, the 20 stone person however can lose up to 12 1/2 stone so hasn't really got any limits so the process is a lot faster and more effective. ok well im 5'3 and im 13/f and i weigh 122 pounds. I want to weigh 103 and i have about 1 1/2 months to do it. is that possible? also what are some excerises you can do at home that will decreses your fat in your buns, abs, thighs, ect. if you dont have any excerise equipment. picutures would be awesome if you could find some. thanks in advance. Just to point out 105lbs is the real minimum weight you should be for 5'3, But you want to lose 19lbs in 6 weeks which is quite drastic. The only thing you can really do is cut your calories A LOT and workout 4-6 times a week running, biking and weights. Running burns fat through the whole body and is probably one of the better cardio exercises you can do as it targets the whole body, doing interval training helps to speed up the process too, for example:

If you do a 20 minute run on an average of 5mph, every 2 minutes increase the speed to 7/8mph for 30 secs then return to 5mph, this will burn fat faster and speed up your metabolism.

Also weights help to increase weight loss as they increase your metabolism, so aim to do them 3 times a week as they help burn fat AND tone your thighs, abs etc. I know it can be hard to do 'weights' when you don't have any but your own body is one of the best weights you can use! Doing tricep dips on a bench, the plank and many other exercises help tone certain areas.

1-2 weeks before you need to get down to your ideal weight, you COULD go on a juice fast detox and only drink juices for that time with one solid meal a day, this can lose up to 10lbs and is very effective, but you have to be careful about eating too much after obviously lol.

So yeah, cut calories, sugar and carbs alot (about 1000 calories a day) and do lots of exercise and you'll probably manage it, if all fails at the end, juice fast for a week. I lost a 16lbs doing this for a couple of weeks, to be honest it's a quick fix, but if you want to keep it up you can:), if you find it hard to keep to..Have one day where you're allowed some treats so that you don't lose all luxury lol!
Drinking green tea 3 times a day helps to boost metabolism too and other foods you can find on websites help.

People will probably argue that you shouldn't be dieting so extreme and weigh so little but i'm only answering this because you asked, so i hope it works out for you:)
Just keep healthy and make sure you don't go toooooo extreme.


Ive noticed some things about myself and i was wondering if these are normal and how to change them.

I could go outside with my family and have the best day of my life, but then come home and after a few hours be misreable and angry.

When i am having a great day, it never seems to last. But after a little bit i can cheer myself up. But then ill be sad again.

I get to sleep at about 11 (or somtimes 2) at night (or 2 in the morning)

I have wierd eating habbits where i dont get hungry (expt i always love candy/munchies) until late at night, when i need to go get somthing to eat.

I broke up with my boyfriend (who i had been datin on/off for a year) out of the blue. (The day after i had heart surgery and he has been so suportive about it, saying he would visit me and everything) He was perfect and amazing but i didnt think i loved him and some days im over him and im happy for him and whatever new life hed like to have and i want him to get a girlfriend and move on and other days i just want him back. But i know i cant because i dont even know what i want.

Some days when i think about things my ex-boyfriend would do or say, it would make me be thankful it was over and other times the same things make me miss him.

I know im smart enough to get straight As but i get As and Bs because its so much simpler in theory. I get to stressed from all of the pressure of quizes.

I have high expectations of myself and i seem to fail most of them.

I used to think i had the best body but now im losing faith in my self image.

Im in-consistant in everything.

I used to think i needed to be perfect in everything..

Im inspired easily but easy come easy go.

I feel like my life is ina downward spiral and that im going crazy. But tomorow when im happy everything will look so clear.

What is my problem? Why am i like this?

Aw i remember going through this when i was about 13, Nothing bad has happened to you it's just as my mum said 'becoming a woman'. All your hormones are up and down and everywhere right now and it's making you go through these crazy emotions and moods. I have certain times through the month...1 week i cry and cry about absolutely nothing or something silly like losing a pen! I don't feel like crying it just comes out and then i feel horrible...another week i can't sleep and go to sleep at 1-2am then wake up every single hour til i get up panicing that i'm late..I go through hot and cold phases, bloating, feeling rough every wonderful thing that puberty and now periods give you lol. If you haven't started already, it sounds like your heading towards periods as all these things are symptoms of 'the time of the month'. There's nothing to worry about it's just being a girl. Best cure for when you feel down = chocolate and shopping;) I find exercise clears your mind a lot and i'm always less stressed out when i've been in the gym or done some hockey and lacrosse!
If you find things really hard you can take hormone vitamin tablets for women (you can get them from chemists and probably supermarkets) which calm your hormones down a bit so you don't feel so grumpy:P
I found 13 to be one of the hardest years because everythings growing, you're getting a more womanly shape, moods and everything gets on top of one another, just chill and do something you enjoy when you feel down, you'll laugh about it when you're older!:)

Alright, so I'm 15 and I've never had sex or anything. When me and my boyfriend are together sometimes he fingers me.. and every single time he does, I bleed. I was just wondering if this was normal or if there is something wrong with me.. I know its probably normal to bleed the first time, but what about every time? My best guess would be his finger nails or he's doing it to roughly etc, or he hasn't 'broken' your hymen fully so he keeps stretching it causing bleeding. But still, i'd get it checked out because you may need an internal examination..If you're too embarrassed to go through that maybe email your problem to an online doctor or a health line.

I would think you'll start quite soon if you're getting discharge. If you've had any breast tenderness then thats a sign too. I found when i started my period my breasts went up a cup size so i wouldn't worry about your size for now you still have years to grow:) I'm sure the hair issue with start whenever period or not to be honest, it sounds like you were a late puberty starter if you haven't got armpit hair or maybe you're just lucky! I wouldn't worry, it will come when it's ready the more you worry about it the longer it will probably take to come because of stress.
Bra wise there's loads of push ups, wonder bras are good for that and gel bras etc, theres loads of kinds out there:)

With all the media and celeb diets today every girl is drawn in this downward spiral of skinny size 0 supermodels. The media have done us all want to be thinner because they say it's beautiful and most the rich women celebs are skinny in our eyes so we think skinny = rich and pretty. Other girls will disagree probably but there's too many 'icons' and size 0 women at the minute, how can a girl be happy with her body when every magazine in the world seems to say every woman without a flat stomach is fat.. The truth is they aren't fishing for compliments (well most aren't..), they just aren't happy with their body and most probably will never be however stupid it sounds, i can't complain though because i've basically described myself up there:o


I had my ears peirced at clairs, like 7 weeks ago and i woke up this morning and one of my earlobes where swollen. It doesnt hurt and it feels kinda num ,
do you know whats wrong with it?

Woah, Some people are a little over the top about the issue.. I've had my ears done nine times (different places obviously!) and quite a few of them have caused pain and discomfort for months. I still get random pain when i've slept on one funny. One of my friends earlobes swelled up extremely big and all she did was get some special ear cleaning fluid from a piercing shop and cleaned it twice a day and the swelling went down. Don't worry about it, the swelling with calm down soon enough:)


ok,at the time i started getting breasts,i was overweight,and then i lost weight,now that im 14.i wear a 34c-34d size bra,and my breasts are kind of saggy.im just wondering if there is any exercises i can do to get them to look normal.u always see the girls in magazines & such with prefect breasts,so thats what guys expect.this is bringing my self esteem & confidence down alot.please,any help would be highly appreciated.thank you. There may not we any exercise you can do to make them 'perfect', but there are exercises you can do to firm them up

But the good news is that you can tuck that twenty dollar bill back inside your bra -- there is no magical product, cream or device that will help you put your best breasts forward. I'm going to recommend three exercises for you to do at home that won't cost you a dime and will put more boom in your boom-chicka-boom in 6-8 weeks. Simply do 1-3, 8-15 rep sets of each move, 2-3 times a week and I guarantee you'll see results! Have fun.

1. The Modified Push Up
Lie on your stomach, bend your knees, and cross your ankles. Bend your elbows and place your palms on the floor a bit to the side and in front of your shoulders. Straighten your arms and lift your body so you're balanced on your palms and knees. Tuck your chin a few inches toward your chest so your forehead faces the floor. Tighten your abdominals.
Bend your elbows and lower your entire body at once. Rather than trying to touch your chest to the floor, lower only until your upper arms are parallel to the floor. Push back up. Don't lock your elbows at the top of the movement and don't do the dreaded "head bob." That's when you dip your head toward the floor without moving any other part of your body.

2. Soup Can Press
Lie on your back with your feet flat on the floor and a soup can or dumbbell in each hand. Push the soup cans up so your arms are directly over your shoulders and your palms face away from you. Pull your abdominals in but don't jam your back into the floor; don't let it arch way up, either. Tilt your chin toward your chest.
Lower the soup cans down and a little to the side until your elbows lightly touch the floor. Push the weights back up, taking care not to lock your elbows or allow your shoulder blades to rise off the floor. (Note: Use soup cans of equal weight. When those get too light, you can fill two Pinesol bottles with dried beans or pebbles.)

3. Incline Fly
Lie on the floor with your head, neck and upper back propped up against several large pillows. Hold a soup can or dumbbell in each hand and press the weights directly above your chest, palms facing each other. Tuck your chin to your chest to align your neck with the rest of your spine, and maintain your natural back posture, neither arched nor flattened.
Spreading your arms apart so that your elbows travel down and to the sides, lower the weights until your elbows lightly touch the floor. Maintaining a constant bend in your elbows, lift the weights back up, imagining that you have a barrel lying on your chest and you have to keep your arms wide to reach around it.

okay so my boyfriend's bday is coming up in a couple of weeks. he recently bought his first polo from aeropostale and he decided he really likes it. so i think i should get him another one from a designer store, such as lacoste or ralph lauren. however, since he is a teenager (16)and wears a small in polos, i dont know if i would be safe getting him one at a store like that since its for men. should i get the same size or maybe go to extra small? thanks (link)
I would say if he's 16..He's probably quite manly built already so i'd say he would be a small in RL or Lacoste unless he's very small built that is. I'm not a big fan of Lacoste so i'm not sure how there sizes range, but Ralph lauren tell you the measurements for their sizes on the website, so if you could find out his measurements somehow then you can tell on the website. Ralph Lauren have some really nice new polos out at the minute for men too!:)

I get pimples just like everyone else, but for the most part I am breakout free but whenever I do get a pimple it always leaves a scar.

I don't pick at it or try and pop it but usually when it does pop its when I'm in the shower or washing my face.

What can I do to prevent it from scarring? And what products can I use to get rid whatever scars I have?

I use bio oil on any scarrs i have and it takes a while but the results are amazing:) I'm not sure where you're from but most chemists stock it:)

To add on to previous answer:

Waxing
- cons: Can cause ingrown hairs and removes tan if you don't moisturise

Shaving
- cons: If you're dark you can still see the cut hair under the skin which could cause ingrown hairs

Delipatory
- cons: Can burn legs

Tweezing
- cons: Hairs actually grow back a lot quicker than waxing

Epilators
- pros: Like a big row of tweezers, like eyebrow tweezers but for legs, last a week etc
- cons: painful, takes forever, prone to ingrown hairs, can't use on sensitive skin, misses some hair

Electrolysis
- pros: Long lasting results
- cons: Painful, expensive, chance of reaction/infection, time consuming

Laser hair removal/Photo epilation/Pulsed Laser
- Pros: Most effective, Hair reduction and some people have complete permanent hair removal, doesn't hurt a lot
- Cons: Expensive, Up to 6 treatments needed


Ok. ive never had a boyfriend before and ive also never felt this way about a boy. the problem is that we havent EVER talked to each other and i think he likes me. Hes at my bus stop and i will always catch him glancing at me. But i REALLY want to talk to him but im the really shy type especially when it comes to a cute boy like him. he lives on the street right behind mine. does anyone know what i should do to talk to him. and since its summer, i dont see him and all i do is think about him all of the time. If you haven't spoken to him before to be honest you haven't got much to lose, if you keep leaving it you're not going to gain anything so just give it a try:) Just start a conversation with him with something simple like music or comment on something he's doing or wearing, just some general chit chat really. He's probably as shy as you when it comes to girls so will probably talk to you more and more if you make the first move and show you're a nice girl:)
