I have all the mental illnesses listed in the subject line.
For the five-hundredth time since I was diagnosed, I will explain what cyclothymia is. Cyclothymia is a milder version of bipolar disorder but it sure doesn't feel like it. It affects less than one percent of people in the US.
I have post-traumatic stress disorder which has manifested itself through voices and A LOT OF noise in my head, and also obsessive compulsive disoder.
I see a psychologist and a psychiatrist. I'm told that I'm at risk for a psychotic breakdown.
I'm scared and I don't like being mentally ill. How do I keep calm when everything in my head is so loud and stressful? Medications don't help anymore. (link)

I found this from a website and you may find it helpful:
Here are tips that an individual can do in order to help reduce depression. Think about things that makes you happy. Do fun things that make you happy. Going to a club to get exercise is another thing that helps people reduce depression. Try to remember the good times when you were really happy.
Depression isn't something that lasts forever. You can be happy again. Depression is something that can be fixed. Depression is something that isn't forever. You can be happy again if you have the desire to be happy. You have to want to be happy though. Happiness has to come from within ourself. Yes, being around someone else can cause us to be more happy because of the positive energy around us.
Eating healthy is important to be able to function better. Eating enough vegetables among with other foods and getting enough vitamins does make a huge difference in the way an individual feels from day to day. Vitamins is one of the most important things that we need.
Drinking caffeine can also help you feel better about yourself since it gives you a boost of energy. Sometimes all people need is a little bit of caffeine to help them be happy again. It works better than anti-depressants sometimes. Coffee or soda pop may be the solution for you if you feel a little in the blues or not very happy.
Sleep is also an important factor. Enough sleep does make a huge difference in a way an individual feels throughout the day. Getting enough sleep and eating healthy along with enough vitamins and exercise is most important things one needs to do. Sleeping too much can be a bad thing though, so make sure that you get enough sleep , but don't sleep too much. Make sure not to sleep too much cause it will make you feel worse and won't help much. People who are depressed tend to sleep allot or not enough sleep.
Try to reduce the stress in your life. Perhaps taking some time off from work will help you feel better. Everyone needs a vacation from work every once in a while. Are you happy with the house or apartment you live in? If not then perhaps moving to a different place will make you feel better. Are you happy with the city you live in? Perhaps moving to a different city will also help you. Allot of times people need to change something in their life when they find themselves unhappy.

my name is Rachel and iam a junior which is the 11th grade and this boy that i like is in the 9th grade and he's 15 and iam 17,but the problem is that he's black and my parents are really racist about racial dating what should I do?
please help me. (link)
|
you're 17 years old and that's old enough to make your own decisions.
don't let your parents get in the way of how you feel about somebody. you not dating him because your parents don't like that he's black is the same thing as you not dating him because he's black. you see what i mean?
they can't really say anything to you. parents, especially at your age, like to be as threatening as possible when you're doing something they don't like because it isn't long before their say won't even enter into your mind at all cuz you'll be all on your own. but they know that if you wanna do it they ultimately can't do anything to stop it.
honestly, i'd just not say anything else to your parents about it and start dating him. if they ask again then you can either be honest and say whatever i'm gonna do what i want or lie. either way, dont NOT date him just because of what your parents think.

Is there any way to be prepared for your first kiss? I know I should bring chapstick and mints... anything else? How should I act when we are done kissing? be silent? laugh? smile? what??? i'm so confused. any way to practice kissing so that I dont look like a total dork in front of the guy? thanks! (link)
|
Honestly, there isn't a very good way to practice. Ain't nothin like the real thang, baby.
Anyway..
Just be relaxed and go with it. You've seen kisses 1000's of times on tv and movies so you get the general idea. Even if the first kiss isn't the best, I know for a fact it'll get better from there.
Afterwards he'd probably like it if you looked into his eyes, smiled, and said "i liked that." or just say "i liked that" with your eyes and he'll probably kiss you again. haha.
good luck sweetheart, you'll be fine.

I am very confused about religion. My family is Christian and believe in God, but aren't too religious. I was never told to believe in anything.
I believe in God. BUT I also believe in Karma. Is there any sort of name or religion for that? they are two different beliefs and religions, but I believe in both.
(link)
|
Being without an organized religion is okay. There isn't necessarily a name for that, it's just being spiritual and having your own idea of God.
Having spirituality is what is important, and you should let it take whatever form it wants to in your life.
I'd say try not to focus on what religion you fit into.
I am the same way as you. I believe in God (probably in a different way that many organized religions do) and I happen to believe in karma as well. God and karma don't even necessarily have to be linked. What is linked is the common denominator, spirituality.
Keep exploring and if you feel led to an organized religion, go for it. If not, just establishing your own way to live your life and taking good beliefs from different faiths is just fine. For example I agree with many ways of living your life as related to Buddhism and Quakerism.

Hi. I'm 13/f
My problem is that My mom is really into christianity and all that stuff, but lately I've been getting into witchcraft.(yes, I know the bible says it's an abomination against God) My mom doesn't know, and so she still takes me to church with her every sunday.but whenever I'm in church, I feel like I'm getting a lecture or something like that. She's so into it, she sent me to private school because of the "Moral Values" of it. the truth is, all the kids there are pretty much the same as they would be in public school. We all cuss, some of us smoke and a few of us drink.I mean, I believe in god, but I also believe in spells. I've seen them work before and have succesfully done some. I'm not really sure what to do. Any help??? (link)

I liked wicca when I was your age too. Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf is a suggested read.
Anyways,
I think it's absolutely wonderful and awesome that you're exploring your spirituality and have decided to be wiccan or at least experiment with it. It's a very loving and nature-sensitive spirituality.
It sounds like your mom wouldn't be too supportive of it, but if it bothers you to be in church you should at least tell her that. Tell her you have no problem with her faith, but you're exploring yourself and feel that her faith might not be what you're looking for. Hopefully she won't try to force it on you because in my opinion that's not a very christ-like action.
Anyway,
good luck and have fun.
No one should be allowed to force their religion on you by the way, even if it IS your mom.

I think that I am bipolar. I'll be happy and obnoxious one moment and then the next I'll feel so depressed that i want to die. How do you know if you're bipolar? What do I do if i am? How do I tell my parents? (link)

The first thing you should do is look up websites on the disorder. Sometimes they have a little quiz to see if you exhibit the symptoms. Just remember that this quiz is NOT diagnostic, that means it can't diagnose you and you can't know for sure unless you see a professional.
Do that to get an idea though.
Next step, definitely tell your parents if you think they'll be supportive. If you think they won't be, talk to your school counselor. Parents and school counselors can both get you to see a professional.
If you do have it, it might be important for you to get medication because it can get worse as years go by. So however you do it, make sure you talk to a trusted adult that can get you to see a professional.
Good luck, and if you're scared, try not to be. There's a lot of people who live normal lives with it and there are plenty of people who would love to help you if you just seek that help.

A year ago I moved to a condo and i met this girl, for now i will call her C. And C was a nice girl, she was like my best friend for a while and then i met her friend, K. Shit happened, and then I got into a fight with K and then i got intoa fight with C. But then, i made up with C and K. Then C moved and it was just me and K. Me and K have become the best of friends, we're blood sisters, but K is a total slut, and C has changed into a little ho. She dresses like a slut and calls herself 'the playboy master' cause she loves playboy to death. Now me and C always get into fights and then im always the one that goes back to her and wants to become her friend again. Me and K get into fights too and stop talking, but we end up being friends again after a day. Now K is telling me to be the bigger person and be friends with C again cause shes 'so much fun'and shit. I really dont want to be C's friend again cause we're just gonna end up fighting again. So, should i listen to K and make up with C or should I just forget about C? I really need some advice on this. if you dont like a person, dont try to be friends with them.
it's simple as that.
don't let anyone try to persuade you otherwhise if you don't like what the person stands for.

everyone always says that you should be totally comfortable before you have sex, and that if youre nervous youre not ready.. but then people always say youre gonna be nervous your first time. so how can you tell? (link)
|
if youre with a boy you really like and you start doing other things and if he tries to have sex with you and you have no problem with it but just have little jitters cuz you've never done it before, then go for it.
you'll know the difference. right now it's probably not-ready nervousness.
point is, don't rush it. that might lead to regret and that's not a fun feeling.

I was wondering what the chances of pregnancy are in the following scenario:
the male uses a condom and the female has been on birth control for at least 3 years. About halfway through intercourse (well before ejaculation), the first condom breaks. After a few seconds, the male pulls out and uses a new condom. The other condom stays intact. The male also pulled out when ejaculation occured later while using the second condom. The only real worry involves the condom that broke for a few seconds in the middle of intercourse (well before ejaculation). It seems like a very small chance (especially due to the female being on birth control), but was wondering about it to help ease worrying a little, since this has never happened before.
Thanks! (link)

It depends on where you are in your cycle and how well you use your birth control. Birth control is almost completely effective even without a condom, a condom just is that much better. So honestly you're probably fine. And your body is used to it because you've been on it so long.
Fertility: you're most fertile the second week of your cycle, meaning 2 weeks after you got your last period. This isn't set in stone and it can be a little earlier or later. It depends on your personal ovulation which cannot be determined easily.
Hope this helps!
