throughout my childhood, I had severe bouts of depression. [to put it simply]

cutting, as long as she isnt doing it to be 'cool', or whatever the latest crazy fad is, is NOT cureable through psychiatry.

once someone has made up their mind to do it, there isnt much that can stop them.

try telling her how you feel, and how you're scared for her. knowing you have friends at this point is very important.

talk to her as much as possible- but make sure you treat her as you did before you found out. checking in every once in a while is more beneficial than nothing.

Try to steer conversations toward positive events, if at all possible, but if she brings up the subject, then talk with her about it.

One thing that really worked for me was seeing those worse off- volunteer at a shelter, visit a childrens hospital.

I have very fair, very very sensitive skin, and if I'm in need of a concealer, that's what I use. Its always better to go to one of their stores to try stuff out, so if there's one near you, I'd suggest going.

There's other foundations and concealer-like things there, though that's probably my favorite. Oh, and if any of their products aren't right, or they irritate your skin, you can take them back and they'll swap it for something else (some will even refund your money). They also will allow samples for many of the products, and will apply any of the make-up so that you can see what it looks like.

Its a little expensive, but definitely worth the cost. & its much cheaper than heavily commercial brands like MAC.

waves always look good, but if you overdo them, you can tend to look like you got a bad perm, or a clown with a bad hair day.

If your hair is straight, use a large curling iron on your hair when it is dry. Take a about a 1-2 inch piece of hair, and roll the curling iron almost to the roots of your hair, and hold it for three seconds. Repeat for the rest of your head, and spray in a light texturizing spray. Tousle your waves so the look almost casual- you dont want to look like you actually curled your hair. (too much like prom) If your hair looks flat on the top, then flip it upside-down and use a volumizing hairspray at the roots (on some hair, regular hairspray works, though this tends to be for curly hair). Curling irons work better with a little bit of oil in the hair, so if you can avoid washing your hair for a night, I'd suggest it. You should probably try this out before planning on doing it for your winter ball, just to see how it looks.

i think you've already answered that: he needs to be on his meds.

my entire family has two sides, no in-between: there's the mentally crazed, and the completely straight-laced, so i'm no new thing at this medication stuff.

its most likely that he will get defensive, but it's something [it sounds like] he needs to do.

you can go for any approach: tough love, 'this is for your benefit', ect.

[i'm guessing] the worst part for him is accepting that he isnt completely normal when off of his meds. help him accept it, and both of your lives will get easier, trust. :]

It might be that he is trying to subtly tell you that he isn't ready for marriage, yet.

It doesn't seem like you want to marry him at this moment, so have you tried telling him both that and your views on the subject?

You should ask yourself, though. Would you be happy with him, with kids, if you never got married?

Part of relationships, love, and all that is learning to compromise.

Think of something he might agree to, like that in 5 or so years (i know it's quite a while, but you're planning on spending the rest of your life with him) if you're still happily together, you should try getting married. Maybe something like when you have kids.
